No one recalls Vadalyn's true origins. Some say that Mount Ether used to have two peaks, but then the Windsinger himself summoned forth the air to sweep away the lower peak until all that remained was the unnaturally flat plateau that is now called Vadalyn.

Open to the sky and featuring a scenic precipice, Vadalyn was built around the concept of freedom and adventure. Its inhabitants are travelers, or retired ones. As such, many of them do not reside in Vadalyn full-time. But Vadalyn provides even its most journeyed adventurers with a safe place to stay between trips away, to raise their young, or to enjoy their olden days.

Over the generations, the Vadalians have become primarily colored in ways that reflect these Vadalyn ideals: blues for the sky, yellows and golds for the sun, white and light greys for the clouds. These things have become Vadalian symbols used by the Atmospheric Council - Vadalyn's overseers.

However, not all Vadalians have colors inspired by the sky. Some are of more earthy tones akin to the vibrant greens of Vadalyn's leaves and grass.

This utopia is protected by a mysterious bamboo forest that has grown to cover most of the mountain. Legend has it that the first non-Wind dragon to join Vadalyn was a Nature dragon, and that she planted the original border of bamboo around the clearing before vanishing without a trace.

The now-dense forest is said to prevent anyone from finding Vadalyn who is not meant to, while guiding those who are to their new home. This has led to a widespread superstition that any outsider who stumbles into Vadalyn must be of pure intentions. Outsiders are rare - but when one does stumble into the clearing, all Vadalians are sure to accept them with open arms, believing in the myths.

For many years, Vadalyn has continues on in this peaceful manner, taken care of by its Atmospheric Council. Due to Vadalyn's obscure location and years of ongoing peace, the Council has rarely had to do any true diplomatic or governing tasks. Today, the Atmospheric Council positions are mostly views as a formality for those who are considered to be the figureheads of Vadalyn, and their primary job is to preserve Vadalyn's beauty and to keep Vadalyn's history and legends alive.

Now, however, Vadalyn is facing a dilemma it has never experienced before: a group of outsiders have arrived, yet their intentions seem anything but pure...
