Cyst's Journal Entries, Day 1:
Gone. They're all just... dead. But there were no wounds, no blood... just their cold, dead bodies. It had to have been an attack from another clan. It HAS to be... right? Almost all of my friends, my clan... no single clan could have done this. There's no way. It... it had to have been multiple clans.
Thankfully, Orsino, Candy, Moon, and Beleth survived. Orsino said he was out trading with a friend clan, so he wasn't home for whatever happened. I thought it odd that he had left his nest mate to look after the eggs by herself, but I had done the same thing myself. Beleth and I were busy at the Auction House, looking for new additions to our clan, when we heard about the devastation at our lair. Maybe the reason the mothers survived was that... they were at the nesting grounds? I don't know.
I can't even think right now.

Cyst's Journal Entries, Day 2:
Beleth is leaving. He claims to be unable to stand the sight of his home any longer. His sister had been among the dead, and he can't stand to have the memories floating around him constantly. So he is going to go live with a friend clan to the west, in the Abiding Boneyard. I will miss him dearly.
The mothers are worried. What if the clan is attacked again? They're scared for their babies. Moon, in particular, is very frightened. She's always been an anxious sort.

Cyst's Journal Entries, Day 3:
Things are getting worse. Candy and Moon won't leave the nest, not even to eat. I have to bring them food, hoping that they'll eat it. They usually don't. They don't dare look away from their eggs.
Orsino is oddly okay. He continues on as if nothing has happened. Of course, he's heartbroken over the loss of his children; but he's never been the emotional sort. I guess that's why he's still able to work away in that lab of his. I hope he isn't holding in his feelings. Plaguemother have mercy on us.

Cyst's Journal Entries, Day 4:
The eggs aren't looking well. They've begun to brown in spots, and pus has started to leak from pores in the eggs. Needless to say, the mothers are terrified. What could be causing this to happen? Some... disease? The clan that attacked us must have brought a new strain of virus. Maybe that's how they wiped out my clan in the first place, with some kind of toxin or disease.
I'm quite resilient to diseases, being born in the Abiding Boneyard, but Candy and Moon aren't native to the Plague badlands. Neither is Orsino. But why would a disease affect the eggs? They're literally born in a writhing pool of infection!
...What is happening?

Cyst's Journal Entries, Day 5:
Only two more days until the eggs hatch. Incubation has been slow because of the sickness that seems to be spreading throughout our lair, so they will hatch later than planned. Dear Plaguemother, I hope they are healthy. Well, as healthy as a plague spawn could be.
Moon has stopped talking. She just curls around her eggs, eyes trained on their pus shells. They keep leaking, evening beginning to crack in some spots. Candy has tried to stay upbeat, but our eggs are also looking worse. I want my children to survive. Gods, they have to survive. Please.
Orsino came to me today and asked if he could try and help the eggs. He had a vial of some bright yellow liquid that he said could help the hatchlings survive. He's smart, so I said he could. He plans to inject it tomorrow.

Cyst's Journal Entries, Day 6:
The eggs are looking better! Orsino's medicine seems to have worked. I don't know what I would do without him. He's always been a huge help in our lair.
The mothers are speaking again, too. They have been constantly thanking Orsino for his help, and Orsino has, no doubt, been enjoying the praise. He's a little cocky, if not arrogant, but he's still an asset to our clan.
I'm so happy to see my eggs doing well. The pus has almost fully stopped leaking, and the cracks are even seeming to heal. Maybe we will survive after all.

Cyst's Journal Entries, Day 7:
They're dead.
Almost all the hatchlings were stillborn. One little spiral held on for a total of seven minutes before becoming very still and eventually cold. Candy... she couldn't handle the pain. She cried and cried and cried over her babies, cradling their bodies in her claws, her sobs drowning out any other noise. But Moon... Moon was very, very silent. She just stared at the little lifeless bodies of her hatchlings, not daring to touch them. And then, out of nowhere, both mothers dropped dead. They writhed in pain for a bit, and then froze. Orsino and I are the only ones left.
-Entry 2 of Day 7-
ALL HIS FAULT. ALL HIS FAULT.
The little bodies of the hatchlings began to... ooze with the same yellow liquid that Orsino had injected their eggs with. IT'S HIS FAULT.
I stormed into his room in the lair, finding him looming over numerous papers and beakers, all of which were full of that vile liquid.
I confronted him. I accused him of killing our lair. And all he did... was smile. He was PROUD of what he did. He confessed to all of it, and I... I killed him. I KILLED HIM.
I'm all alone.

An egg. A single little egg outside our... MY lair. I'll keep it.

Cyst's Journal Entries, Day 8:
Jaxine - I decided to call the hatchling that - is doing well. She mostly just sniffs around the lair, looking for things to get into. She's so small, so I lose her pretty easily, but I can usually find her in the food stores. We have so much left over, and we don't even need it all... Anyway, Jaxine is nice company. She can't speak very well yet, but she's learning. She called me "Papa" earlier today. I nearly cried.

Cyst's Entries, Day XX:
We can't stay here any longer. Feon died of starvation. Shred is so hungry she can't move. Jaxine is barely holding on. And I... I can't look at this place any longer.
We are moving to a new clan, Jaxine and I. Shred isn't going to make it, so we're leaving her here.
