as you and your band of exhausted travelers crest over a rise on the Windswept Plateau, you behold a large trading city straddling the entire width of the river valley below, and even climbing the sheer cliffs on the edges. enormous buildings frame a colorful main street, where dragons of all shapes and sizes shout cheerfully at each other, and beastclan and familiars roam freely. there also appears to be a giant circus tent wedged in between an observatory and a spooky temple complex, for some reason. huh.

any number of fine trade goods are produced here, but what this city is famous for is its wide array of fine educational facilities and colleges, which churn out beautiful and highly-educated youngsters at an absolutely astonishing rate! the city has no guards and no walls, because why would it need them? if you come here you're leaving with a fine array of assorted gewgaws, maybe a couple of pets, and probably some bright-eyed and well-heeled youngsters to bring back to your clan. thanks for your patronage! come back soon!!

this city has no proper name itself, but is constructed of five boroughs, each with their own specialty and leaders-

Funky Town, home to the famous Collegiate of Alchemy and the School of Cool, ruled over by the Funky Town Chamber of Commerce.

Cirque Infernal, a fabulous and sinister Circus Academy and Extravaganza, ruled over by the Supreme Jestorious.

Goldfish Gangway, an alleyway off the main street that a group of vagrant coatls have taken over to show off their fancy stylings and teach any willing youngsters a world-class course in physical comedy and funk dancing. you're not sure which one of them is actually in charge, and neither are they.

False Gods Court, a temple complex roamed by a group of... strange beings... that just sort of showed up one day. if you're foolish enough to grant any of them an offering, you may receive an equal boon ranging anywhere from "temporary invincibility" to "a swift kick in the teeth", so approach with caution. asking which being is in charge will probably get your entire lineage cursed, though.

and [REDACTED], a massive research facility where scientists pursue the latest and greatest standards of beauty and coolness with cutting-edge technology! breaking into this building is a great way to get either tazed or accidentally melted, so maybe don't. great place to pursue your Doctorate in Inadvisable Science, though!
