Welcome to Shady Acres Retirement Home!

Deep in the Lake District of England, nestled among the gentle rolling hills and calm, cold lakes, lies a retirement home. Shrouded by a light mist that hovers and never seems to clear, the home sprawls over several acres and cultivates a cosy atmosphere for those approaching their twilight years. Raucous laughter can be heard drifting over nearby farms and disturbing the ducks and swans that nest near the lakes, and chattering and song accompanies the sunny patches that pepper the ground underneath the ancient oak trees. It is a retirement home like no other. 

Only the most mischievous and fun-loving people end up in Shady Acres - those that have remained young at heart and refused to age gracefully. But once there, they don’t always remain people. Amused and pleased by their antics - brief yet frequent romances, pranks, bawdy humour and terrible advice for their grandchildren - the Flight Rising Deities blessed them and transformed them into dragons. Now they can fight and breed and make friends for many more years than their human selves could ever dream of. 

Every so often, a dragon from another Clan or group wants to retire and have fun with the Shady Acres gang, and they are welcomed with open arms (although Myrtle makes fun of their names). And every so often, a dragon wishes to return home permanently, for although they can appear to their families as their human selves when they visit, some wish to rest for the remainder of their lives among their human loved ones. Then the Tidelord steps in and graciously helps them home via one final hurrah on the battlefield. The remaining dragons of Shady Acres mourn their loss (for they were fun dragons who always had hot water bottles full of rum and the latest Mills & Boon tucked under their pillow) but are happy that they have their families around them once again.
