Long before the settlement of people on the island of Berk, dragons roamed free. They had their own colonies, even hierarchies. They worked together to hunt, feed their young, and protect what was theirs.

Leadership:

Leader: The dragon that oversees the clan. Makes major decisions with the help of the second in command, seniors, and at times elders. This dragon is responsible for seeing that everything runs smoothly.

Second in Command: Takes charge when the leader is unable and will take the leader position if the leader passes or retires. This dragon also oversees strategy and organizes patrols.

High Ranks:

Healer: If a dragon is injured, they will go to the healer who is specialized in magical properties. This dragon has extensive knowledge of herbs, and only the wisest can become a healer.

Head Guardian: Oversees the protection of the dragons.

Head Hunter and Gatherer: Organizes parties to gather and collect food for all the dragons in the clan.

Head Gardener: This dragon has the knowledge to plant various plants to help the bees/hummingbirds pollinate. Varying flowers and even some foods this dragon is able to pollinate.

Head Pollinator: Helps pollinators plants, and oversees the process.

Head Producer: Oversees the production of food for the clan.

Wise Ones: Older dragons that have served their purpose to the clan.

Basic Ranks:

Protectors: Makes sure that nothing will harm the clan, and monitors the terrain that they live in.

Hunters and Gatherers: Searches out for food for the clan and brings it back.

Gardeners: Can plant and tend to the crops in the fields.

Pollinators: Specialized in pollinating, helps plants, and are able to complete the process.

Hunters: Hunts or fishes for food.

Healers Apprentice: These dragons aid the Healer, but only the chosen one will take the Healer's place.

Novices: In training for one of the positions above.

Caretakers: Oversee the young.

Hatchlings: Dragons who are too young to be novices until they are a few weeks old.
