Life in a military unit is never easy, especially for newcomers. There are long, unrelenting, hours, constant patrols, and the paralyzing fear that one day, no matter how careful you are, someone will come along and end your journey. The Skyrider clan was no exception. A multi-factional family unit, with each breed serving a unique purpose, developed in the harshest environment in the land, with only one true intention; Conquer and Dominate.

Skydancers hold the governing power, highest ranking among them, the pearlescent white Engel, who acts as the founder of the Skyrider clan, or what he affectionately calls his “clan of lost souls.” Engel’s right hand is his mate, Kiernan, who tends to air towards keeping order in lieu of leading the clan, even if it means acting as judge, jury, AND executioner. In spite of her decidedly cool nature, she is often regarded as the clan mother figure, offering advice to the young ones and old.

Imperials serve as the clan’s much needed workers, collecting and gathering food and treasure for their clan. They are led by Brocca, the mightiest of their breed, as she often claims. Her second in command, Caine, while extremely smart and efficient when assigned a task, is known to lack the ambition to go find something to occupy himself, so the position often falls to her daughter, Spektrel. Emerald takes his position at Brocca’s left hand, serving as an overseer to ensure tasks are completed to a satisfactory quality. Obscurity tends to disagree, the two often spar for the position.

The Banescale breed, led by General Prowess, hold control of the entirety of the clan’s military might. She and her mate, Centerfire, evenly split powers and responsibilities between themselves when it comes to strategic planning and firepower, as well as doling out punishment when needed. A tradition-oriented breed, the two selected mates for their two sons, Caliber and Commander, to expand their might as a family. Caliber will be mated to Skirmish, and Commander to Cauterize, based on their parents' interpretation of their individual traits and genetic diversity. This will expand the number of generals in the clan from four to six, and increase the military power they have as a family.

Mirrors, in their multitude, find strength in numbers, and act as the disposable soldiers in combat. What began as an act of escape and desperation quickly turned into a very large family unit when Tango met Whiskey, a fiery and strong male born in the shadow realm, but cast out as a hatchling. They ran together as hatchlings and stumbled upon the Skyrider clan accidentally. Prowess saw them as nuisances at first, but quickly realized their unique might in numbers after Tango’s first group of eggs hatched. The two of them “breed like rodents,” as Prowess often says, and are less reliant on tradition than their Banescale commanders. Their children are free to explore the lands and find mates for themselves, based purely on Prowess’ ideology that the more they breed, the more soldiers she has.

Crossbreeding is strictly prohibited, an offense punishable by death if it is discovered. There have been rumors, however, involving the origin of Laila, a peculiar Nocturne who appeared in the dead of night as a hatchling. Mated pairs are together for life, unless their mate is killed in battle or dies of old age. With the exception of the Banescales, mates are not predetermined or arranged. The Mirror dragons are the only breed that allows their children to venture out into the world with the only reason being to find a mate, the rest are required to find one within their breed and in their clan, with the exception of finding one in a neighboring clan.
