The only pockets of what can pass for wildlife now huddle themselves into the brush of the tundra, which blankets the heart of the icefield. Dense evergreen forests skirt the mountain ridges, and many dragon clans huddle in wicker caves and huts nestled deep in the trees for the better part of each year.
These dragons are used to the frigid environment, however, there are some that take shelter within the mountainous crags from the bitter howling winds that sweep across the expanse of the Icefields. This particular dragon clan has made their home out of an icy cavern that looks as if it was carved in one swipe of a giant dragons claws.
Spectris de quo Frigora Nocturna, they call themselves. This dragon clan prefers the language of English-Latin as the words roll easily off their tongues.
A beautiful and slender dragon with black and white mottled fur and feathered wings seems to emerge from beneath the snow amidst the grey rocks, she has a strange metal contraption connected to her right wing and her facial markings look like a skeleton was imprinted on her. You blink your eyes against the flurry of snow. Perhaps you are seeing things in this blizzard? She steps forward and appears to speak to you.
"Salve viator! Quid protelo vos huc locum?"...
You stare dumbfounded at her, unable to understand a word she said.
"Potesne intellegere Linguam latina?"...
You raise one eyebrow at her in response and she cocks her head to the side.
"Nec? Can you understand English language?"
You nod your head at her.
"Yes? ...Yay!" She ruffles the feathers adorning her head crest, happily you assume. "Do you belong to a clan?" You shake your head at her.
"Are you lost?" She blinks at you in concern.
You look around at the harsh landscape, whirlwinds of snow flying in the air. The wind feels like eels sinking their teeth into you. You nod your head unsure of where you are and uncertain of anything at this point.
She gazes at you for a moment and glances up at a rocky ledge of the mountain that overlooks the clearing then back at you.
"Maledicti!" She curses under her breath briefly.
"Well then...Come, traveler, you'll make a fine addition to our lair!"
She turns and stalks off toward the mountains on all fours. You follow silently your only guide in this harsh, unforgiving terrain.
