Lore Bite: The Flight Home

The Zephyr Steppes expand behind her to the south and Reedcleft Ascent is before her in the north. She scans the skies, ensuring the coast is clear before arranging her gloves, spreading her wings, and leaping into a scar in the surface.

She dives for what seems like hours before her wings take to the air. Her small form rises gently as she adjusts, staying in the shadows of the ravine.

The mechanics on her wings click and hum gently as they hold her steady, speeding her over the rushing rapids below. Water sprays onto her goggles, sending droplets of light across her vision. The impairment does not matter; she has flown this way since she was a hatchling, far under the surface, away from prying eyes.

She weaves through sharp turns and around perilous spikes of rock. All in good fun. Finally, she reaches the familiar right turn toward the setting sun, and she climbs. Two strong flaps have her at the right altitude, and she gently curves toward the open ocean. A small clawed hand reaches out, latching to the stone, and she vanishes.

The tunnel; barely large enough for the others in her clan, is far too large for her. She is dwarfed by its entrance, yet the shadows outside keep it hidden, keep it safe.

She reaches the other end of the tunnel, and is greeted by brightly glowing crystals. The large common area is an anomaly, it shouldn't honestly exist. Seemingly too large to be built into the stone, she had found this cave years ago, when she was tiny and young. Since then, her clan had grown, had expanded. Newly carved tunnels spread to other entrances, to nests and rooms. Commotion down one of them announces meal time, and several drakes are squabbling over some food.

She takes off her goggles, hanging them around her neck, and smiles.

She's home.

Oddly enough, most of my dragons are exalt rescues of some kind.
To name a few: Galyx, Samhain, Gidget, Glow, Emphira, Klyde, Carem, Zephyrus, Adhara, Daesora, Allseia, and Allneia are all rescues.

Generally speaking, if dragons are in a row together and not organized pair-single-pair, they are a lore group, and should be treated as such.
