The Misted Spires

Welcome to the Misted Spires, a subregion of the Crystalspine Reaches bordering the Starwood strand. Here, there is a strange yet beautiful mix of the two areas, resulting in three spires with the enormous trees of the Starwood Strand growing at and around their feet. It's the best of both worlds, but clashing magical energy produces a misty haze over the subregion, giving it an ominous look, and these magical mini-wars can sometimes result in horrors unknown to anywhere else. This is what most would call mysterious, forever shrouded, an area that most wise dragons overlook when finding a spot to lair, despite the natural curiosity of the flight. You're either brave or foolish to wander here.

Yet, in the very center of this secluded place, a small clan of dragons have chosen to settle and begin their lives as servants of the Arcanist.

The Clan of Misted Haven

Within the Misted Spires is an area with filled with life, a miniature valley, if you will. Plants and fungi with various magical properties found nowhere else inhabit this eden, and ridges in the land allow clear brooks to tumble into small waterfalls. In short, it's a secret haven, but the most curious place in this enchanted paradise is the cave from where the singing brooks originate from. It proudly overlooks the low-lying land between the three spires from the side of the tallest of the trio, the Cryptic Spire. The cave had been untouched by dragonkind for eons, and strange but wonderful creatures lived inside of the multi-chambered cavern.

Three wandering dragons, two imperials and a tundra, were in search of a place to call home. The tundra, called Sornolyn, was a skilled Arcane mage, and the two imperials, Charvi and Bole, were mates. The dragons had been searching for a suitable spot for months, and Charvi was expected to lay her eggs any day. They were nomadic, and Charvi needed to settle somewhere soon, for the sake of her children and the traditions of her species. So, one fateful day, the dragons had taken off from the Shifting Expanse, and were flying over the border of the Starwood Strand and into the Crystalspine Reaches, Charvi felt it in her very soul (and stomach) that they must land. All three dived downwards, landing smoothly in an unfamiliar place surrounded by mist, much to Sornolyn's distress, for she knew the area was unexplored and uninhabitable, thanks to the few scrolls that contained information about it. Charvi and Bole, however, were not shaken by the mage's warning. As the trio walked through the lush, magical forest, they found a valley between the three spires- Misted Haven. Charvi and Bole felt as though this could be the forever home of their clan, but Sornolyn was having doubts. "There's something eerie, something... well, off, about this land," she told them. They did not listen to the Tundra, and soon enough, found the perfect place to nest; a cave looking out over the valley, sitting upon Cryptic Spire.

That is how the very first members of our clan were born, to Charvi and Bole, lead by Sornolyn. There were three children, two of them were never named. One was sent to the ranks of the Arcanist, the other was sent as an indentured servant to a mirror dragon in the Lightning flight. The remaining child, Cyra, stayed with her parents in Misted Haven.

Cyra was raised to be a battle mage by Sornolyn, so she could protect the tiny clan. When Cyra was older, her mother left Misted Haven to serve the Arcanist at the Observatory. Cyra, Sornolyn, and her father remained, who later became so sick with grief, knowing he'd never see Charvi again, left to join his other daughter in the Lightning flight. It was only Sornolyn and Cyra in Misted Haven, who eventually scouted and recruited other dragons to join their clan. They were successful, and in her older days, Sornolyn left to join Charvi in the Observatory, leaving the clan to her most trusted apprentice.
