The chunk of sun-bleached bone that dug itself into the bottom of your claws—how many miles ago did you step on it?—shoots pain up your leg as you take another step.
You wonder if this will be your last one, yet, you've noticed that the gently throbbing, intestine-like flora here has discreetly been cleared away, in an almost path-like formation, and it piques your interest enough to fight collapsing.

Bones lay splintered, their broken ends all facing the same way, like subtle arrows. Every few meters you encounter a fickle, bony tree with what appears to be claw-marks etched into the ivory-colored wood.
A panther anole sits in the eye socket of a Snapper's heavy-jawed skull, and darts in front of you, continuing in a haphazard zigzag pattern.
From nowhere a Guardian leaps and catches it under it's claws. It's back and neck are decorated with bones, red earth, and various other organics of the wasteland. A thick rope of membrane is wrapped around it's neck like a scarf. Somehow the camouflage prevented you from noticing the lurking Plagueling.
Tucking the anole in a satchel, the Guardian emits a throaty growl in your direction, eyes narrowing—you are surprised to see it is aligned with Light—and fans out its fins. It is lithe, and well-muscled. In your current state, it could tear you to shreds.
Before you are allowed to speak, a towering male Ridgeback alights, his heavy wingbeats causing you to sway in the wind. The Guardian lays off and allows him to pass, appearing to mutter something.

'You are trespassing, you know this?" He says in a gruff, lightly accented voice;
his manner of speaking hints that Draconic is not his native language. He fleet-
ingly scans you with his eyes, then nods to the Guardian, who spreads her wings
and leaps into the air. "You are injured, yes? We can aid you. You can find home
within our clan... Be assured, we are a different kind of family."
