The Mangata Roundclaws, based in a deliberately undisclosed location within the Rimebone Stockade, is a long-established cohort of individuals united by their appreciation of the moon and the wintertime. Alongside its many Iceborn denizens, the lair quietly welcomes a trickle of outsiders, forming an integrated clan - an increasingly rare and controversial sight in the Icewarden's realm. For this reason, the Mangata Roundclaws are a semi-secret society.

A serene atmosphere facilitative of quiet reflection is upheld within the lair, tending toward pacifist and neutralist approaches. Battle and exaltation are generally against clan principle, though defensive ranks are regularly trained for necessary conflict.

Temporary visits to the mainland are allowed, but since most members value loyalty and stability very highly, absolute population turnover is slow.

The Mangata Roundclaws enforce neither religion nor social hierarchy. Nonetheless, appropriate reverence is directed toward the Icewarden, and the progenitor Philander is respected as a pioneer and clan figurehead.

Many Roundclaw members are avid collectors, continually expanding the lair's bestiary and filling its vaults with miscellanea. Each item's worth is assessed on novelty over and above monetary value. Most clan possessions are shared rather than monopolized by a specific dragon, with the exception of objects of personal significance.

The Mangata Roundclaws are a brotherhood and largely do away with the traditional romantic partnership. Their love is communal and functional, but no less unbreakable. Provisioning and offspring care are also seen as group efforts, rather than exclusively parental duties.

Though the outward froideur of these dragons might deter those quick to judge, the worthy few will understand: sometimes the iciest moons have the softest and hottest of cores.

N.B. The name 'Mangata Roundclaws' was devised by the clan's pioneering members to represent their values, from the Nordic mångata, meaning the reflection of the moon on water, and 'roundclaw' as an allusion to pacifism: the rounding-off of sharp claws.
