Inferno5426's Clan

A lone dragon soars above the steep cliffs where the ocean meets the Sunbeam Ruins, the early-morning sunlight playing across their scales. They swoop down into an alcove cut into the south-facing side of the cliffs beneath the Beacon of the Radiant Eye. A guard stands in front of a pair of great marble doors inlaid with Light's sunbeam symbol in golden glass. The dragon and the guard exchange a few words, after which the guard nods and thumps the end of his staff on the ground. "Welcome to Clan Hearthlight," he says as the great doors grind open...

Clan Hearthlight makes its home in an underground ruin in the cliffs beneath the Beacon of the Radiant Eye. Behind the doors is a large main cavern, its ruins decorated with Light's signature strings of glowing baubles. White pillars, part of the ruin, hold up the ceiling of the main cavern. An array of stained glass windows depicting the history of Sornieth is set into the cliff facing east, across the ocean and towards the rising sun, casting multicolored light across the cavern. Additional panes showing scenes like the flights and their deities are carefully stacked against the wall nearby, ready to be swapped for those currently displayed in the array. Mirrors hang from a sophisticated system of ropes and pulleys that runs throughout the main cavern, allowing them to be repositioned to catch and reflect the light from the stained glass windows and throw rainbows around the space.

In places, the ceiling of the cavern has collapsed, allowing shafts of sun to shine down from above. The openings serve as additional entrances and exits for clan members. Under them, the clan has allowed patches of grass and bushes to grow, the comfortable beds of sun-soaked vegetation used as meeting places or nesting sites.

In the center of the main cavern, under the largest shaft of light, sits a great raised dais around which the entire clan can gather. A massive mirror hangs suspended over the dais. In times of celebration, this mirror is set up to shower the dais in rainbow light. The council, consisting of the three clan leaders, uses this dais as a grand gathering place to deliver important news or announcements to the entire clan.

Tunnels wind their way out from the sides of the main cavern, leading to dozens of auxiliary caverns used for many purposes such as homes for individual dragons, hatcheries, or workspaces.

Clan Hearthlight is a clan of outcasts. All three clan leaders are originally from flights other than Light, all outcasts in some way from their birth flights. As such, the clan embraces dragons from all flights and circumstances and serves as a welcoming home for those dragons unlucky enough to not have a clan of their own.
