"You smell like a friend," she said with her nose so close she almost pushed into my chest. Her nostrils flared again to inhale my scent. "Yes, a close friend."

Yoomee could barely fly then, but it was still impressive to see a recent hatchling fly. She told me she had heard shouting and splashing and went to investigate. I was the one she heard.

The ice had collapsed under my weight and the bitter chill had rendered my hands incapable of pulling myself to safety. That was when Yoomee appeared and plucked me out of the water.

Over the time we spent together, Yoomee told me I owed her nothing. My friendship was enough. But I had to leave and I did not know when I would be back.

She nestled her snout to me. "I am glad you have returned. Let me show you my clan-"

I laughed, "I've already seen it Yoomee. I returned because I have something to ask you."

"Hmm?"

And so, Yoomee became the leader of my clan. She is kind and nurturing and sees the best in every creature that has ever crossed her path. Nadir is her mate, a guardian dragon who found his precious treasure to protect; Yoomee.

Together, Yoomee, Nadir and myself seek to create a place where all are welcome as I was once so openly welcomed. A place called home.
