Hraefncin's Clan

The English word clan derives by way of Scottish Gaelic clann from Old Irish cland, meaning 'offspring, descendent'; in turn, this comes from a Primitive Irish *qland from Welsh plant itself from Latin planta, whence we also get 'plant'. Ultimately, the Latin word comes from Proto-Indo-European *pleth₂os, pleth₂eh₂ where the English word 'flat' also comes from.
