there exists a clan, on the outskirts of the Gladekeeper's domain, that stretches not only deep beneath the earth but high into the trees.

It's easy to miss the clan if you're not looking for it... or if you're not looking up.

The cave entrances of the clan span throughout nearly all of the Everbloom Gardens. They are discreet, hidden among the colorful and bountiful flora of the Gladekeeper, but their entrances are securely guarded by a number of vicious and carnivorous plants, friendly only to clan members and allies.

Should one enter the cave systems, they are to be greeted by all manners of organic illumination, none of them flame. Glowing ivy drape themselves from the shimmering leaves of underground trees. The groundwater rivers glitter with luminescent algae, fireflies dancing in the boughs between. The main chamber is an enormous, massive thing with stone supports, a soaring ceiling and the occasional wooden reinforcement, stretching both far into the distance and high into more rock. It is an expanse swathed in glowbugs, trees, vines, ferns--an underground forest, complete with a meadowed center and a lake to the side. Despite its warm, comforting, low light, the plants grow in abundance. Enchanted lanterns hang from tree branches, giving illumination, sometimes providing an area of bright light for those who need it after spending time underground.

Its tunnels from chamber to chamber are dimly illuminated with glowing crystals and millions of softly glowing flowers and vines can be found within. Often they delve into darkness completely but never for long, and are large enough to fly through. (The imperials must walk.)

The tree systems are spread on the edges of the Shrieking Wilds. Should one find the tree systems, they will be greeted with the sight of dozens of platforms and roofs made from wood, stone and metal, with sturdy fences or rails to keep dragons from accidentally falling off. On them are the basic furnishings of a dragon's room, their close belongings stored securely within locked hollows in the tree.

The roofed platforms are all connected by chains or ropes, decorated with hanging trinkets. Birdskulls, stone tablets, windchimes, gemstones, tassels, and beads all clink charmingly in the wind.

There are rumors of a tree, larger than the rest the clan inhabits. They say this one belongs to the Lady of the Willows, the clan leader. No one is sure if it truly exists. Those who have tried to find it, in seek of telltale magic, gems, and golden fruit, have all failed. Others say she simply hides in the clan's expansive main chamber, underground.

Nonetheless, it is said it is a towering tree with branches strong as steel. Among the leaves there is golden illumination from within, and the wood is studded beautifully with intricate looped carvings and shining crystals. Pods of light are interspersed throughout the bark like eyes. Follow the rivers, they say, down into a dark lake, and it will be in the center. The tree is hollowed for the Lady and has pathways to every part of the clan's underground network, they say. Find her and know every secret of the Everbloom Gardens, they say.

Scarcely a dragon outside of the Clan has seen the Lady fully before, only as a fleeting shadow or a fuzzy image that turned the corner. She is described as a large dragon with a body akin to a skydancer, with more wings and more feathers, wearing long swaths of iridescent cloth and hanging golden jewelry. Willow branches and great antlers crown her head. Other supposed appearances are floating through the grapevine, but this is the most popular, scrapped together from the memories of multiple dragons. The Clan members are sworn to secrecy about her true appearance.

The Clan of Forest Calling has no organized hierarchy; the only semblance of it is that the Lady's word is law. Most of the rest is up to common decency. The clan is more like family, and extended family, reaching down the lines as a network of close relationships. Each dragon can assign themselves or each other general roles, like "tree system repairdragon" or "hoard keeper." The Lady is more interested in taking in and giving a home to wayward wanderers than establishing an organized government and community.

Loners are given shelter when they ask for it, as well as food and assistance. But they are a guest, and are not to abuse the system and can be expected to hold and pull their own in exchange for temporary housing and protection.

This clan welcomes dragons of all backgrounds, even those of sister Plague. The Clan of the Forest Calling allows for new lives. The Clan of the Forest Calling looks out for each other. The Clan of Forest Calling leaves behind none.
