when you approach the blossoming empire, the first thing you see is a large flowered tree. the petals are pink and small -- maybe cherry blossoms? the tree itself is suspended in the air along with the kites of the cloudsong, seemingly torn from the ground by a whirlwind of some kind. despite this, the tree seems perfectly healthy. dragons and miscellaneous unidentifiable creatures zip around, weaving between shelters fastened to the branches and dark covens inside the treebark knots. sorneithians of all sizes, shapes and flights wave at you cheerily.
an entourage of dragons approach you, mostly coatls strongly resembling koi, but a few beautifully dressed skydancers line the edges of the pack. the elegant skydancers smile at you warmly, but their hollow, pupil-less eyes imply something darker. a heavily pregnant "koital" whispers to you that they're not dangerous as long as you're a few clawsteps away. you wonder if she's kidding.
as they guide you towards the largest knot in the tree, you see kites and platforms are tied to the branches of the trees, and sometimes the tails of dragons. the colorful sails float as if weightless, despite the fact that they are often also supporting the weight of jars of mysterious sludges, piles of junk or indifferent familiars.
when you enter the main hall, foreign dragons dressed horn to claw in traditional wear are buzzing about. "you wish to see queen shivii, yes?" one of the escorting skydancers asks. the pearl jewelry she's wearing shimmers at her words as if her voice has enchanted it. you give her your answer, and with nothing more than a bow she's disappeared into a crowd of ambassadors. you begin to take in your surroundings, and before you know it the only dragon by your side is pregnant coatl from earlier. before you can ask her anything, a female tundra emerges from the hub. her fur is a pristine white, and large, heavy antlers hang from her head. a bamboo phytocat is to her side, glaring at you coldly. the tundra smiles at you, "nice to meet you, traveller. i am queen shivii of the blossoming empire. what brings you here?"
