Would you believe me if I told you we live in the belly of a beast? That it swallowed a city whole? That monsters live among us, hiding in the skin of our kind?
You wouldn't.
The truth isn't a perfectly crafted painting. It's not a beautiful blend of colors. It's smudges of red against the stark white snow. Against skin. Against bones. Against ash. All painted crimson red.
It's the lies that look beautiful. The lie that the ruins above weren't once our ancestors home. The lie that the tunnels we live in aren't part of an ancient beast.
Lies let us live in peaceful bliss. They let us hide from the painful truth.
