TOPIC | [new breed] The laughing shadow dragon
I don't know I was inspired by the description of the shadow lands. I also noticed that the shadow lands do not have a dragon originating there as of yet. I wanted to make a shadowy dragon with long limbs as it would be used to maneuver among the bramble and thin pines.

I drew them having similar characteristics as the shadow dragon deity, so they have frilly necks and while she doesn't have horns, I created them to have a sorta horny facial structure similar to ridgebacks.

The shadows seem like water coming out of her so I guess since she is in the forums it would be pretty much full of shadow and only the strongest can maneuver her shadowy pools.
Here are my sketches...

male and female...these were just quick sketches of an overall idea I had.

Pretties. I could support this. Especially with the frills. We need some dragons with mad frills.

Ehhh I don't really like the art of the dragons listed in the OP.

It looks too much like a starter dragon to me. It's almost as if a Guardian dragon and a Mirror dragon bred together and produced the dragons in the OP.

No support.

Well since you are in the shadow clan...what would better represent you. As I said these were quick sketches to get an overall feel and I don't mind revising my design.

@rabidminimoose I'm not sure really. I usually just go along with the flow lol :)

I think we could make dragons with talons and maybe large bird-like wings with feathers. Maybe the snout could be similar to a Pealcatcher's snout?

I don't know about the birdlike wings but talons...I tried to get the talony feel in my first sketch but let me put more detail in another revised one with the pearl catcher snout. I can't say for sure if feathers are allowed for main dragon breeds. Considering we don't have one with just feathers...the skydancers have like an inbetween wing design I guess lol.
edit: Here is a sketch...with a different facial structure.Image37.jpg
Overall I think that many of us just want some frilled beasties....lol so I don't know. Maybe Undel would make a frilled dragon of her own. This was just a concept.

I appreciate the effort and thought put in it, but no support, personally.

Long, thin limbs, long neck, three horns protruding from each side of the face, forehead gem, and a mane-like projection running in a line down the back of the head all make it a bit too Skydancer-y, in my personal opinion. Some similarties are going to happen (Wildclaws and Skydancers sharing the "three spikes on each side of the face" thing and the feathery head projections, Guardians and Ridgebacks both having pointed chins), but their body shapes and other features are distinct enough that you can still tell them apart easily. Really distinctive body types and designs seem like they shouldbe pretty important aspects for a site like this (again, strictly in my opinion): you should be able to instantly tell breeds apart by their silhouette without having to really study it or think hard about it.

The Shadowbinder, for example, is especially unique in that her wings seem to end in sort of feetlike things, giving her a distinct sort of six-legged looking stance.

I have a sketch with the wings like that but I stopped because the feet and arms would be hidden and they need to be seen for apparel. Also...with the horns I sorta wanted to do the actual fin fringe thingy the shadow deity has but I thought the dragons all need horns so I scrapped that Idea. They all need horns right? that's part of the dragon breed rules?

You could always add fins between the three horns on the face, Or something like that. then it would look like the frills on the shadowbinders face huh? idk Dragons are mythical creatures :P there are no rules.
