Flare grinned brightly. He could remember when his siblings had said their first words, and it was such a precious moment to him still. He did not manage to get a word out of Pale, although the dragonet was ready to speak. He understood what his father was reading to him and even learned to read some more words, but he did not find in necessary to speak at the moment. Soon enough, it was late and Flare had to get Pale to put the book down, which he did not. He only ran to his room with it and tried to read on his own, desperate for practice. Jolly had fallen asleep in the main cavern covered in bones.

Lavender had smiled when she saw her father happy and continued to say more words. She was not saying complete sentences yet and her words were still babbly but was understood a little more then before. Lavender was so happy but so sleepy that she had to be carried to bed and put to sleep. Orb had followed his mother around almost tripping over himself he was so tired

Flare was glad they wore the dragonets down so much. They would be getting a good nights sleep and hopefully sleep in bit. He thought they could use the rest. Tomorrow he would have to start another work day, but he wouldn't be bringing Jolly this time. Teaching him and dealing with large crowds was just too impracticable.

Symphony picked up Orb, cooing at her tired out dragonet. She went to the nest and lay down instantly drifting into a very happy deep sleep. Orb had already been asleep and continued to snore softly next to his mother.

Flare came to the nest as well and unfolded his wings, very carefully, and wrapped them around Symphony, making a tent. He drifted to sleep as well, but knew he wouldn't e able to sleep in, so it wasn't a deep sleep. He woke early that morning and got out of the nest quietly so he wouldn't disturb anyone.

Morning came and after Flare left Symphony slowly arose. She yawned and wrapped Orb up in a fur before going to wash the apples for breakfast. Lavender curled up tighter in her nest nit letting herself wake up.

This time, Jolly actually stuck around for breakfast. He almost never did, but he really wanted to see what would happen if those red fruits were cooked. Pale had't slept very much in the night and was up early. He stayed in his room, still trying to read. Flare had made it to the shop and was opening up. Already, there was a line so early in the morning. He sighed, it was going to be a long day.

Symphony did indeed cook the apples and they were very sloppy and turned into warm mush. Orb slowly woke up and stumbled out of the nest and going to hug his mother's tail. He lay on top of his mother's tail letting her drag him around

Jolly watched the apples closely with a sick fascination. He watched the skins lose their brilliant color very slowly and watched as the insides turned soft until they were mush. He thought of how these fruits could never return to how they were. Pale finally came in at this time and observed everything. He watched his brother and then Jolly. Something about the way Jolly watched those apples made him happy, but he couldn't describe it.

Symphony scooped the mushy apples out of the pot and put them into the coconut bowls. She set them out then smiled and patted Pale on the head lightly. Orb clinged to his mother's tail, shivering in the morning fall breeze
