Vein giggled happily and blushed with flattery. Even at his young age he understood the dragon language very well, he just didn't know how to speak yet and was in fact, afraid of trying. He curled up into a little ball in Loons arms and snuggled against his chest lovingly. He would be rather upset when he wouldn't be able to go with his uncles in an adventure but if they gave him a very good reason he would understand.

Loon did not mind that Vein was not speaking yet, and neither did Jolly. In fact, neither of them would mind if Vein never spoke, since they already have a situation like Jolly's. Unusual things happened in that family often, and everyone was fine with it. Loon had considered adventuring, too, but ultimately he left the choice up to Jolly. He secretly hoped they wouldn't go, though. He was deathly afraid that something might happen if they were away, and Loon knew himself to be a valuable fighter. He was right, of course, and Jolly knew this as well. There would be no more adventures for some time for the twins, sadly. Pale was actually eager to teach all of his siblings how to fight, he always thought each of them should know how to properly defend themselves.

Vein would speak at some point, but he would speak very little, he didn't find it the most necessary to speak in his case, all of his emotions shone is his bright, mismatched eyes. Orb had been happy when he just learned the basics and was taking on more knowledge about as he decided to read about fighting too.

No one seemed to leave the cave that day, all were content to hide in the safety of the cave. Mirth was hiding in his nest while his let his thoughts and terrors run wild. He had tried to hold them back, but currently lacked the mental strength to do so. Every little sound and movement made him flinch, so his pets minded to hold very still. When night fell, and the festive day was at its end, Pale sighed, knowing his time to work had come. He reluctantly got up from the spot he'd been resting in the entire day and went outside. He would make this night of work his last for a while, since he intended to use future nights for training his siblings. The other twins, Jolly and Loon, had passed out cuddling Vein, and were sitting next to the fire as usual. Hailstone watched Pale go and nodded to him as he did so, guarding around the clock was tiresome work, and Hailstone would eventually switch shifts with Noble and Loon. Jolly would guard with Loon, since he had superior senses. He would feel a threat a mile off just by their mental stability and intentions.

Jacaranda saw her brother tense and flinch every so often and she became worried. She came over and wrapped one of her light pink and light purple wings over him and gave him a weak smile before snuggling next to him. Orb was asleep already and he would have practiced training but he was full out tired so he let himself sleep.

Mirth's eyes were dilated, and he only stared up at his sister in horror, thoughts of what might happen to his family flashed through his mind, and he whimpered. He didn't sleep that night, nor did he move. When Pale came home, dripping with water again, he listened to him come in, and greet Hailstone on the way in. Pale walked past Jacaranda and Mirth's room, but stopped when he saw them. He knew what was going on with his little brother. He was having a meltdown. Pale came in the room quietly and sat next to Mirth gently. He looked down at him and stared intensely into his eyes, Mirth couldn't turn away and stared back. "It won't happen. Not to this family." Was all he said. He knew what Mirth might be thinking of. Mirth stared up at him for almost a full hour before he nodded. At this, Pale left the room and went to his own, letting Mirth calm down on his own. It was all he could do for his brother in that moment.

Jacaranda became frantic as Mirth whimpered. Her pale blue eyes went wild and she nuzzled the side of her brothers face hoping he'd be ok. She wanted to sleep but not if her brother didn't. She stayed awake with him until Pale came in and she watched him closely without a sound.

Eventually, Mirth was too tired to stay awake with terror. He passed out, and his brain rebalanced itself with sleep, restoring him to a neutral state. He did not dream when he slept, his mind was too tired to present him with a dream of any kind, its only focus was restoring itself. While Pale had been in there, he had studied his little brother, looking at his physical features. He had spent his night easily finishing contracts and using his remaining hours searching for information on the family's new enemy. He hadn't found much, but he thought he now knew how she made Mirth insane before he was even hatched. Mercury poisoning. He would have to search further into that another night, for now, he needed rest.

Jacaranda Watches her brother fall asleep and that reassured her to the state that she fell asleep. Curled up right beside him with a weak smile on her face. She felt like her brother had stopped being scared for little while and she felt like she was able to smile again for a reason.

Noble was awake now, and making her way to the main entrance. She came up to Hailstone. "Lets switch guard duty. You look like you need some sleep badly." She said quietly. Hailstone nodded gratefully and groggily dragged himself to his nest, all full of fluff and silk, to sleep for a long time. Pale's mind was racing, and he found sleep was difficult for him at the moment. Luckily, Pale was also used to sleepless nights, but he knew he still needed rest to think clearly. He settled for sitting in his nest in a meditative trance. He had learned this from many books, as well as observing his uncle Jolly, who seemed to be a master of clearing the mind. One would wonder if there was anything in his mind at all. Flare was still asleep, but sleeping lightly.
