Hina's journey across the ocean was spectacular. She had never been on a cruise liner before, and some of the facilities on this boat were a surprise. There was a tennis court, rock climbing wall and wave pool on the deck, with a aerial battle field for those trainers who wished to partake in a moving sky battle. Hina was not one of those trainers. She was in the wave pool with her Quilava who insisted on going into the water, tripping her trainer up to do so.
"Shion, you don't need those!"
Laughed the fiery haired youngster. The quilava had scrambled out of the pool and into one of Hina's traveling cases to bring her some psyduck floats.
"You can swim perfectly fine without them, but if you insist."
She chuckled, taking the rubber ducks and blowing into the first one. As the fire type paddled around waiting for her arm bands She got swept up in the crashing wave, yapping happily when she resurfaced. Hina whistled to get the pokemon's attention, slipping the armbands onto her fore paws. Shion yapped again and then stopped paddling, allowing the arm bands to do their job.

During transit Hina pretty much kept to herself. There was some small talk between herself and other trainers, but that was about it. She was more interested in her fire type, ensuring she didn't decide to dive off the edge of the ship. Hina didn't doubt Shion's swimming capabilities, but they where on the prow of cruise liner, and she didn't fancy the thought of the small pokemon getting swept underneath the hull.

Near the end of the voyage, Hina gathered her things and pulled out her issued trainer passport along with a map. An over enthusiastic young male voice sounded over the loud speaker, but was somewhat drowned out, the hubub of the deck making it semi inaudible. Hina made her way closer to one of the speakers.

"We are now arriving at the Hau'oli City Marina on the Alolan Island of Melemele! For our passengers who are leaving us here, all our staff would like to thank you for traveling with the S.S.Mistral ! Alola!"

Hina double checked that she had her case, satchel and ruck sack when she was finally on dry land again. She decided the first port of call was to go to the Pokemon Centre and call home. She had failed to get any signal an hour prior and had promised to call when nearing the destination to reassure her mother that she was safe.

With her giddy Quilava bouncing along beside her as she followed the signs, Hina pulled out the letter and guide to find where they were supposed to meet. There was still some time until that point came and she wanted to make sure she wasn't late.

She wasn't going to be late. The location was the Centre foyer.

"Two pidgy's with one stone Shion." She told her pokemon, who barked back at her. "Come on. I'll race ya!"

(Flygone, i have been subbed, also Nil's kabutops is much larger than her average size, like )

Nilumbra had snuck out of her house late last night, when the stars were out and the moon was high in the sky. She'd jammed a backpack full of things she would need on her journey onto her back. Sock had been out beside her the entire time, using his echolocation to watch and make certain her parents were downstairs.. not paying attention to where Nilumbra was at the moment. Sock was strong enough to carry her short distances, so lowering her from the roof and to the ground had been rather easy for the Crobat.

From there she'd sprinted across the ground as fast as her feet could carry her and narrowly making it in time to get on the boat, breathless and haggard. Once on the boat, she felt a surge of pleasure echoing in her veins, and a powerful sense of foreboding as the boat surged away from the shore. She'd stared at her hometown until it had turned into only a tiny shadow on the horizon and turned back to face forward.. to alola.

On the ship, when she had deemed it safe, Nilumbra sent out Gut Ripper. The Kabutops earned a few confused and concerned stares.. considering it was a fossil pokemon and those were.. exceedily rare and expensive apparently. And they kept saying something about Ripper being.. larger than average or something... whatever that meant.

Ripper had immediately headed over to the wave pool, giving a challenging glance towards a weird Quilava who seemed to want to swim. She sunk into the pool and started swimming back and forth underwater, enjoying the sensation with a pleased grin on her face.

Nilumbra just watched her Kabutops sliding through the water in a beautiful and delicate fashion.. though other trainers and pokemon seemed intimidated by her. Nilumbra was tempted to send out Butter.. her Leavanny to mess with them even more, but decided against it.. probably not a good idea to sent a slightly mentally unstable pokemon out in a crowded area.

"We are now arriving at the Hau'oli City Marina on the Alolan Island of Melemele! For our passengers who are leaving us here, all our staff would like to thank you for traveling with the S.S.Mistral ! Alola!"

"Ripper!" Nilumbra called, and the Kabutops slid out of the wave pool, knocking a trainers' pokemon back in rather carelessly with her scythe-like arms. Scampering towards Nilumbra, Ripper looked happy, giving her trainer a gentle smile. "I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. You are probably going to enjoy yourself a lot around here. Alola are a bunch of islands surrounded by water."

Ripper chortled happily, and then tilted her head, glancing at Nilumbra with concern in her eyes this time.

Nilumbra reached her hands up and Ripper bent down, her massive head snuggling into a wide-armed hug. "Don't you worry your pretty little head about a thing." she murmured. "We are safe here.. they won't ever find us."

Ripper purred as if she was some kind of cat, nuzzling her head into her companion further with her eyes closed contently.

They stayed like this for a moment before Nilumbra removed her arms from her companion. "okay.. lets make this count.. and never return back to where we came from."

The two started off towards where the map had told them to go, the nearby pokemon Center on the foyer. An easy stroll down the street for sure. Ripper made an odd noise like gears grinding.. a notification for a strange girl sprinting around with her Quilava.. the same Quilava Ripper had gave a challenging glare to on the boat. So she had been one of the others to come to the center then?

Nilumbra pat Ripper on the scythe and moved across the way towards the girl and her Quilava, eyes scanning the far taller girl's face. At least Ripper was taller than the both of them by several feet, which made Nilumbra feel less intimidated.

"Hey.. you." Nilumbra called. "You a part of this Alolan activity thing?" her voice was thick with a regional accent, the sound of a person from Unova.

Frankie Lou's journey was...An interesting one, to say the least.

The young trainer was less than excited to leave her snowy hometown, and as she traveled down to Canalave City it felt like she was leaving everything she knew behind in Sinnoh. The only way she could console herself was to remember that this whole trip was just temporary, and that in due time she would be back ice skating in Snowpoint. Her mother, on the other hand, was gushing with excitement for her daughter's adventure, demanding pictures and videos and whatever else Frankie could get to her mother.

Once she boarded a ship and set out from Canalave City, one thing became clear: seasickness readily came to her. Each time a wave crashed into the hull she felt her stomach mimic the swaying of the boat. And much to her dismay, she was simply getting off of one boat and getting onto a much bigger boat so she could go visit some land she didn't even want to go to. At least she had her Pokemon, right? With them, she spent much of her time on the boat secluded away in her room, trying to soothe her tumultuous stomach.

In fact, the young trainer almost didn't get off the boat when they finally reached Hau'oli City. She could only barely hear the faint echo of the speaker in the hallway, so when she stepped out to see everyone leaving the boat she hurriedly packed her things and made a beeline for the exit. She didn't think that she would be excited to see Alolan soil, but her seasickness made her feel otherwise.

That is, until the heat of Melemele hit her. She quickly pulled out a pokeball and sent out Brynn, her snorunt. The small, triangle shaped Pokemon popped out of her ball and smiled up at Frankie, shaking ever so slightly. Frankie couldn't help but to laugh and pick up Brynn.

"Seriously?" She asked jokingly. "How can you still be cold? It's like a million degrees out here!" Not that she was complaining though, she already felt significantly cooler now that she was holding the snorunt. It's Ice Body ability definitely helped out a lot.

Holding Brynn in her arms, Frankie Lou walked into the Pokemon Center where she would be meeting the other teens participating in this Alolan event.

Faust had been feeling sick to his stomach the moment he had boarded the large steamboat.
Sick that he was leaving Johto.
Sick that his brother seemed to not care.
Sick that his parents were watching like predators losing their only prey.
Sick that he didn't know what lay ahead of him.
Sick that he was going to be alone.

And the worst part was - he had neglected to go out and purchase clothes for himself that actually fit his figure so he was stuck wearing a sundress his mother had so lovingly bought him for his birthday two years ago. It wasn't that he looked bad in it; it was actually quite the opposite as his long wavy auburn hair, thick bangs, and bright eyes made him out to be a very goodlooking girl.

Keyword being girl and not boy.

Tugging down on the end of the dress as if the wind was going to flip it up any second, Faust made his way to the deck area where he found a comfortable seat to observe the ocean. As he situated himself on the sticky plastic, he made a low cooing noise and patted his lap as to invite his glameow to have a place to lay down. Glancing sideways, he watched as Belle mewed at him excitedly before deftly leaping onto his, her soft paws tickling his thighs before she settled down comfortably. His heart swelled, enticed by her cute behavior before he carefully started to stroke her fur, occasionally scratching her behind the ear or neck.

He wasn't sure how long they stayed like this.

Every once in awhile he would reach up to secure the sun hat he wore to cover his face, pushing the top down so the sunlight wouldn't severly burn his face. Faust couldn't say he wasn't used to the sun, but Goldenrod city (and Johto itself really) was not a tropical region. He rarely visited their rocky beaches, preferring to stick to the city streets and surrounding forests as a means of entertainment - the game corner was his favorite spot to go (he'd even traded in his tokens for Belle whom he'd had his eye on for quite awhile). Because he skipped school so often, even neglecting to go home, the boy even got to know the employees there and became friends with the owner, sometimes recieving free pokemon or snacks as a gift for being such a frequent customer. Honestly, though he thoroughly despised his home life, that was one thing he was going to miss about Johto.

And so this routine of playing with his hat, petting Belle, and getting stares from various kids his age went on for awhile until he heard his saving grace erupt over the loud speakers.

"We are now arriving at the Hau'oli City Marina on the Alolan Island of Melemele! For our passengers who are leaving us here, all our staff would like to thank you for traveling with the S.S.Mistral ! Alola!"

"Alright Belle, seems we gotta leave," he sighed happily, reaching down to pick up the small ball of fur in his arms. Still fast asleep, she meowed quietly before turning over and snuggling against the boy's arms contently, her ears drooping in complete submission.

Somehow managing to balance his pokemon in one arm and take out a map in the other, Faust glanced down to try and figure out where he was supposed to end up. It didn't take him long to find out it was a pokemon center he needed to find, and he folded the piece of paper and stuck it in his mouth so he could roll his luggage out and still hold Belle easily.

Caught in the crowd of people exiting, Faust quickly glanced up at the looming palmtrees and deep blue ocean that lapped at the shoreline. It was quite the sight to behold and he gently woke up his glameow, setting her down so she could take in the scenery for herself. Purring happily, she rubbed up against his legs before trotting ahead and pawing suspiciously at the sand.

"Oh come now, don't get your coat so dirty," he scolded, catching up to his pokemon as she tried to lick the new substance, a look of horror crossing her face as she realized it was definately not edible. "Belle, please don't do that," he huffed, nudging her along to the pavement. She seemed to give him a look that said 'stop being so protective, you're not my mother' but didn't protest knowing that her trainer was most likely right. Anxious to get away from the unwelcome stares of strangers, Faust half-walked half-ran to the pokemon center, hastily sprinting through the front door before pulling off his hat and shaking out his hair.

Running both hands through it so it was out of his eyes, he gave a short once-over to the people inside before picking up Belle who was somehow already getting into trouble with a nearby snorunt. Approaching the other trainer, he bowed once as an apology and let the glameow crawl back into his open arms.

"Sorry, she doesn't usually run off like that," he murmered, a pink blush kissing his cheeks as he was already embarrassed that this person was about to be confused to all hell and back with his outfit, feminine looks, and extremely deep voice.

(Can you guess what day it is?)

This pokemon center here in Alola seemed to have much more charm then back in Johto. It was smaller than the two story pokemon hub back in her home region, but maybe that was what made it feel more alive? There were garlands strung up over some doors and potted plants everywhere. This center also had the addition of a quaint cafe area which she was immediate draw to, taking photos with Shion and her Roserade Tea like any budding tourist. One of this cafe branch's special seemed to be moomoo milk, which she was going to buy initially (Hina loved milk) but seeing how her family owned the commercially known 'Marten's Milktank & Mareep Ranch' on Route 39 north of Olivine city, and she had a preference for the 'home grown' milk over competitors. Hina thought choosing something new would be the best option. She didn't account for the complimentary Rage Candy bar though.
"So much for deviating from Johto traditions." She told her partner, who yapped happily.
It was welcomed all the same... Although she had three packets in her case... Or was it her case?

A few photo's later, Hina rummaged through her entourage of bags (If you included that her rucksack could split, there were four) to find where she had put the other Rage candy bars; She was certain the labels were slightly different. They were in her case, but hiding in the back zip pocket, meaning she missed them the first time round. About the take a comparison photo, a voice called out to her.
"You a part of this Alolan activity thing?"
Averting her attention from the packet now being stuffed into a pocket to the person heading towards her, she started to reply rather jollily.
"Yeah, I'm a partici-" Her Jolly tone changed as she blinked in awe and fascination, eyes glimmering. "Wow, your Kabutops is spectacular!" Hina praised, taking a quick step towards the pair momentarily forgetting about her stuff sprawled across the floor and circular table. Shion was a bit more tentative than her trainer, feeling anxious around those claws that were could swallow the averagely sized quilava's body.
Studying the fossil Pokemon, she made an observation that was quite obvious.
"Must be pushing over 6 feet... Wow."
She folded her arms and covered her lip with a finger still fascinated by the anomaly creature. The red head addressed the pokemon directly and then it's trainer.
"You are amazing." Pause. "They are amazing."

Before much in the way of a conversation could take place, another person vocalized to another, leading Hina to believe that most of them must have been on that cruise liner after all. With the addition of other pokemon, not a monstrous monster creature that could cut her in half, Shion leaped at the chance, leaving the confides of her bag fortress to the two other small pokemon and their trainers, bounding around two sets of legs one in a summery dress, and the other summery cardigan.

(Uhmmmm.. saturday?? lol XD)

Ripper gazed directly at Hina, looking proud that she had been praised, making an odd burbling noise with her mouth, gazing directly at the little Quilava with a friendly expression on her face. Though clearly the Quilava didn't understand that, because the little creature sprinted away without a second glance. At first Ripper looked a little sad, then she adjusted her scythe-like arm protrusions and looked like she didn't care. Smaller pokemon were always running from her.. and the fact that she was.. well.. double effective against the Quilava might have something to do with it as well. And the fact that she had literal scythes for arms... and was so much larger than the other pokemon. She was used to it by now.

Nilumbra blinked, shocked at Hina's praise of Ripper. "Oh.. she's a rescue. Got her as an Kabuto. She was a little shell then. Used to ride on my head and stuff. Freaked me the heck out when she evolved.. and now i ride on her head instead."

Seeing the Qulava's reaction, Nilumbra thought about maybe returing the massive fossil pokemon.. it would probably attract less stares that way.. but at the same time she was pretty sure none of her other pokemon were going to be able to attract less stares. A Crobat? Well it was a massive purple bat.. maybe not as rare or exotic as a Kabutops.. but releasing Sock right after putting away Ripper might earn her some.. suspicious glances. Same deal with Monstro.. two headed dragons tended to get bad raps. And then there was Butter... there wasn't even a slim chance of Nilumbra releasing the creature in this place.

So she just watched as the Quilava went to curl around the others in the room.. probably others that were a part of the alolan adventure squad. "Uhm.. I think your Quilava likes flowers." A dry comment as she knew exactly what the Quilava was actually afraid of, she was just.. trying and failing to make light of a situation her and Ripper had seen hundreds of times.

The faint, grating sound that Brynn made brought Frankie's attention back to the present. She had drifted off for a moment, comparing how different the Pokemon Center was from the one back home. She had never seen a dual Pokemon Center-PokeMart, so it just added to the trainer's list of firsts here in Alola. To her surprise though, there was a Glameow right in front of her. She gasped aloud, happy to see a Sinnoh-native Pokemon here in the tropics.

Before she could reach out and touch the cat-like Pokemon's silkly fur, her trainer had picked her up and already apologizing for her actions. Frankie hesitated, receiving mixed cues with the trainer's outfit and voice. She then shrugged and smiled at the other trainer and laughed.

"Oh, it's no trouble at all, really!" She said with a laugh. "My aunt had a Glameow, and they can be very curious sometimes. Plus, it's so nice to see a Pokemon native to Sinnoh here in Alola... Are you from around there?" Frankie asked.

While it is possible that the trainer lives somewhere with its own population or traded for the Glameow, she couldn't help but hope that she'd meet someone from Sinnoh and feel a little closer to home.

Faust blinked a couple of times, surprised that this person had carried on a conversation with him so...easily.

"Ah, yes they are quite cute," he murmered, rubbing Belle behind the ear affectionately. Nudging his hand, she purred happily while he continued to stroke her soft coat, curious wide eyes still staring at the small snorunt.

"But no, I'm uh...not from around there. Sorry," the boy replied, trying to keep his talking to a minimum as he was highly embarrassed by his current state. But before he could hide his eyesight behind a set of sideswept bangs, an overly-excited quilava came running towards the both of them, catching Faust just underneath the ankles before continuing its hyper rampage. Taken completely by surprise, the trainer stumbled backwards into a wall, hitting his head on the solid material with a large thump that sounded worse than it actually was. He had horrible balance anyway - the very definition of a frail child who never got involved in sports. So it was possible that his own clumsiness might have contributed to the accident.

Belle, immediatly distressed by her trainer's condition, leapt out of his arms with her whiskers twitching anxiously and hair raised. Her icy blue eyes locked onto the mischievious fire-type, the glameow let out a low hiss as a warning not to come near, obviously irritated by its erratic behavior.

"It's alright - I'm alright," Faust sighed, placing a hand on his pokemon's head as the other rubbed the back of his own in discomfort. Brushing off his sun dress and fixing the sleeves, the trainer stood up and dealt with his appearnace, attention immediatly drawn to the other two trainers observing him and the girl.

"I take it that pokemon belongs to one of you?" he questioned, tone a bit louder than before but holding no malice.

Whilst listening to the short trainer who would come to be known as Nil, Hina was concerned that someone would get rid of such an amazing pokemon... She would be concerned if any pokemon was 'got rid' of. It was nice to see that this trainer had a soft spot for pokemon once loved by others.

The conversation was cut short by a booming voice in an exceptionally pretty sundress. The topic however was not about the clothes they wore but about a particular fire type pokemon scampering about their feet. "Shion?" Hina looked between where her pokemon was and her pokemon's last known location being the collection of bags and stuff still spread across one of the tables. The little fire type had began to run around in circles getting more excited, literally winding itself up. Uh-oh. It wasn't called the Volcano pokemon for nothing.

"Shion return." She called over to the fire type, somewhat embarrassed. She couldn't fathom would have happened had she allowed her pokemon to spout lava all over the pokemon centre. "I'm sorry did she burn something of yours?"
