However, all the adventurers find themselves in increasingly bizarre situations with every new room. Some have begun to notice the range of magical and mechanical experiences that all somehow lead to the same place. Curiouser and curiouser. [Attic] [columns]You successfully decode the message and track down some Shimmering Pinecones. (Thank goodness for those amethysts…) After inserting the Shimmering Pinecones into a port on the side of the machine, a lever glows with a pale lavender glow. Pressing it makes the machine emit a high-pitched whine and spit out an amethyst labelled "Attic". Might as well take it.[nextcol]___[nextcol]As you float along the corridor, the depth of the dust mountains makes you feel a little grateful you don't have to walk in them. You float for what feels like forever (but is probably just a few slow minutes).[/columns] You find yourself in a circular room with many stacked boxes. The room almost seems hazy between the dim light and heavy dust in the air. Briefly, there was a faint sound coming from the right, like a tiny bell ringing. Eight (8) dragons searched to their right in the direction of the bell, and four (4) dragons checked the boxes to the left. [Slime Laboratory] [columns]Your fingers are nimble enough to swiftly exchange the precious gems; you now have a "Slime Laboratory" amethyst. You turn it over in your claws trying to figure out how to activate it. Whatever it is that you did, the gem lights up in a purple flash and you find yourself in another unfamiliar space. [nextcol]_[nextcol]The mountains of dust seem to grow the farther into the corridor you walk. Unfortunately, the dust hid a safety hazard: rotted floors. You are already composing a negative Yelp review as you fly through the air.[nextcol]_[nextcol]You successfully decode the message and track down some Shimmering Pinecones. (Thank goodness for those amethysts…) Once you have the code figured out, you notice there are other shapes in the door that you didn’t notice before. They looked like natural features of the wood, but on closer inspection they seem to be just the right size to hold those pinecones. Weird.[/columns] The floor is squishy. You feel a little off balance trying to walk on it. There's a spiral staircase on the furthest wall, curling up into the darkness. To your left there is a door, but it seems to be jammed shut. Twenty-two (22) dragons took the spiral staircase. Fifteen (15) dragons did weird things with jams and jellies. [Slime Dungeon] [columns]You throw the Even More Beautiful Boulder in the general direction of the open door. It doesn’t do much for the tingly feeling, and when you miss your target by a large margin, an explosion of energy throws you back and down![nextcol]_[nextcol]Seems that the scales were wired to some sort of alarm system - a trapdoor opens under your feet when you try to swap out the amethyst. You land quite uncomfortably in the middle of a hallway.[nextcol]_[nextcol]Something went wrong. Enormous bolts lock down the door all at once. With no way through, you continue down the hallway.[nextcol]_[nextcol]Strange graffiti? In my dungeon? It's a trap! Moving on…[/columns] The floors of the corridor you find yourself in slope rather sharply down, yet open into a huge room with gated cages. Most of the cages are empty, all except one. And the door is open. Fortunately, the brown furry creature is sleeping comfortably. Nine (9) dragons took up arms to face the beast. Meanwhile, three (3) dragons felt it was wiser to hurry past before the creature woke up. ----- Below you will find the collection of in-character choices offered by adventurers. ----- Searching the attic.
[columns][nextcol]Belladonna grins as she sees the pinecones work and the machine gives out a new amethyst as it warps her to her new location she looks around. hearing the small sound of bells she turns to the right to investigate. Although she feared walking into another trap she also did not wish to be sneaked up upon. He tries not to close his itchy eyes all the way when he gets to the next room, dust in the air may mean something happened here - the Shadowbinder coming through, with any luck, - and Linden needs as many senses working as possible now that his nose clogged up. So going for the chime it is, he readies a healing spell just in case and wishes he had taken some candles after all.

[columns][nextcol]Yuuri can already feel his nostrils prickling, how tears gather around his eyes as he determinedly circles around the stifling space. He peers at the numerous boxes, no two being the exact same in terms of color or size. There didn't appear to be an additional exit to this room, so perhaps he could turn- His crests perk at the faint tinkling, Yuuri twisting around to zero in on a stack that partially hid what seems to be the largest box in the room. It is broad, smooth, and- once he swipes a bit of dust away -may have once held a shiny lilac hue. Hmm. He wonders if there could be something of use hiding within…

[columns][nextcol]Kermilda scans the attic, distraught from the musty air and searching for an escape. She takes note of the curious jingling from the right side of the room; the lack of a draft points to no sign of a coincidence. Perhaps another creature is sharing the room with her?

[columns][nextcol]Dusk frowned as he looked around, holding the Shimmering Pinecones in his hand. Alright, he had them, so what was he supposed to do with them? Flexing his wings, he turned and contemplated the machine making the amethysts. Perhaps he was supposed to do something with it...? Walking up to it, he walked around, stopping when he found what appeared to be a hole in the machine to possibly insert something in them. Glancing at the Pinecones, he shrugged before placing them inside the hole; he could always use the other Pinecones he still had if this wasn't it, though he hoped he didn't have to. Thankfully, the machine whirred, and he blinked when an Amethyst was spat out. Peering closely - he didn't touch it yet; didn't want to touch it as he didn't know where it led - he saw the word 'Attic' written on it. 'Attic'? Which 'Attic', and where? He stared at it, conflicted and bemused, before reaching out and grabbing the precious stone in his claws. Immediately, he found himself in what he could definitely call an 'Attic'; though he still would have liked to know where. Huffing, he scanned at the seemingly random pile of boxes. Frustrated, he was about to just look for a way out when a sound caught his ear. Turning, he stared at the boxes to the right, and with a bit of trepidation - he lost his armor earlier from the strange magic, after all - he slowly approached them, prepared to fight if need be.

[columns][nextcol]Lieja drifts down the hallway, pushing off things as she goes to increase her momentum. She touches one of the mountainous dust piles with a claw, then draws back as the floor beneath it immediately caves in. The warrior winces, glad for once of the infuriating golden glitter. She finally touches down in a large room, filled nearly equally with stacks of boxes and the ever-present dust. Luckily, the floor seems to be sturdier here, though Lieja walks as lightly as she can, unwilling to cause more cave-ins. A bell-like chime startles her. It seems to have come from the direction of some boxes on the right. Never one to turn down something interesting, Lieja heads over curiously, though her claws are readied all the same.
Climbing the stairs.
[columns][nextcol]Kaho groaned and huffed as he got up off the floor... again. This place sucked. He wrinkled his nose as the thought of unsticking a door with jam came to his mind. What a ridiculous notion. He went to try the stairs.

[columns][nextcol]Roxy cringed the moment his feet landed onto the slimy floor. he could feel his shivers all the way up to the top of his antennas and all the way down to the tip of his tail. He noticed the closed door, but decided against opening it. "Who knows where all this slime is coming from…"Roxy muttered to himself. "For all I know, I could be opening the gates to slimy hell by opening that door... And that's the last thing I want." Roxy decided that he would take the stairs upwards to get away from the slime.

[columns][nextcol]Latheilen looked at the jammed door for a few seconds. Hum... I don't really want to try to open this... even with jam - I don't want to waste Galaxys' delicious jam ! If only I had a Barbarian party member… She sighed. Yup, definitely lacks a barbarian. Or any party member in fact. Maybe I'll have more luck upstairs. And she took the stairs, watching for her steps with all this goo, humming a little tone.

[columns][nextcol]Butcher sticks his tongue out at the equally sticky door. "Looks difficult," he grumbles. He makes a few halfhearted attempts to unjam it by bashing his head on it, but it doesn't give. With a shrug, he turns and totters up the stairs, weaving a little bit dizzily back and forth.

[columns][nextcol]Lune ignored the door, focused on the staircase. She wondered if it was the same staircase she'd attempted to go down, but decided to take it anyways. Maybe this time she would have better luck. As she wobbled slightly to the first stair, her tail whipped back and forth slightly. Some other adventurer in her village might have enjoyed this a bit more... She walked around the room and found a spiral staircase that she decided to ascend

Seems silly to try unjamming a door with jam - that'd only make it more jammed! Let's see what's at the top of the staircase…

[columns][nextcol]Kaleth plods into the room, but upon feeling the floor, he takes wing and hovers in place. He tries the door but since it's jammed, he decides to take the spiral staircase up instead. Glancing around he sees some boxes? to the right. Flitting over to them he checks them out before climbing the stairs. Yuck!

[columns][nextcol]Idalyn picks up the dropped pinecone and sees the slots in the door for the first time. Curious, she tries different ways to put the pinecone into the slot until it slides in. "Aha!" She feels around the door to place the other pinecones and on a fifth one sliding into place the door opens. She pushes into the next room and then quickly pulls the cones back out of the door before it closes. Stashing these back into her backpack that she pulls up over her shoulder she looks around the room. Door to her left looks odd, the spiral staircase in front of her is dark. There seems to be tables in front to her right. She quickly moves over to check those and inspects though for a few minutes. With a frown she realizes that there is nothing she can find in this area for now, so gathers her things tight around her before moving up the spiral staircase slowly and listening for anything she needs to be aware of. So far her Light spell is holding, so it casts a faint glow upwards above her so she can see where the next few steps are.

[columns][nextcol]The floor squished under Coppice's feet as she walked, throwing her off balance. She looked around the room, her eyes falling on a staircase and a door. The door was jammed shut, and no matter how hard she shoved it wouldn't budge. Instead she decided to take the stairs up, not wanting to stand on the squishy floor any longer than she had to.

[columns] [nextcol]Honeycrisp took in his new surroundings, making a disgusted face at the texture of the floor. They should really clean this up. A Pearlcatcher such as I can barely walk in this place, and I'm certainly not going to use up all my strength flying. He glanced at the door that seemed to be jammed shut, but an even more disgusted look crossed his face and he took the stairs.

As the door swung open, Ashen stuck her head through into the room to take a look around. She blinked in surprise. The room seemed to be covered in some sort of... slime? In the flickering candlelight, it was hard to make out exactly what it might be. She directed one of the candles down towards the floor and it sank into the slime with a wet sound, but otherwise nothing seemed to happen. A careful test with one front paw confirmed that the slime did not seem to have any immediate ill effects. Unfolding her wings half-way for balance, Ashen slowly made her way across the squishy floor. On the other side of the room, she gave the door a try, but since it seemed to be stuck, she decided to follow the winding staircase upwards instead.

[columns][nextcol]The dust underfoot was so thick as to be almost soft underfoot. Xolotl lifted a forepaw to see a coating of white on its underside. Looking behind him, he saw that he had left a clearly visible trail of disturbed dust behind him, as well. I guess there’s no hiding where I have been. He stepped forward and the wooden floor simply fell apart under his weight. Really? Again? Will this place allow me to stay on me feet for so much as ten minutes? At least the landing below was soft. The skydancer made his way unsteadily to his feet, then spread them out wide to avoid losing his footing again on the squishy floor. His balance wasn’t so bad, but Xolotl simply wasn’t agile enough to catch himself should he slip. Once again had to choose between a door and a stairway. He decides to go with his previous strategy of exploring all open spaces before trying to open up closed ones. Not that that had gone well for him so far, but if he was destined to fall over at every possible opportunity he might as well get it over with. He wound carefully up the spiral staircase.

[columns][nextcol]“Is it even possible to unjam a door with jam?” Ajisai asked herself as she turned towards the staircase. She was in no mood to stay in this gross place and took what seemed to be the easiest route.
Unjamming doors...with jam.
[columns][nextcol]Teensy was giving her The Eye. She grimaced under his gaze. Stared down by her own familiar? How embarrasing. Soyonzur couldn't blame him though. She'd just made him fall through the floor of the dust covered room. She, at least, had wings, not that they'd done much to slow down her surprise fall. Glancing at the stairs up and the door to the left, Soy finally decided it was time she stopped relying on her luck, as it hadn't worked out for her so well. Though she loathed to dig into the food she had gathered for the clan, said food would be of no use at all if she didn't get out of here in one piece. Smearing some of the jellies into the jammed door might just work, right?

[columns][nextcol] Crystalline managed to slow his fall with his wings, landing gracefully as he coughed on the dust that had fallen with him. He shook as much dust off him as possible and looked around the new room: a door to the left, and a staircase to the right. Crys snorted. He'd seen how well taking the staircase had gone last time, and he wasn't about to make that mistake again if he could help it, so he trotted over to the door. It appeared to be jammed, and it wouldn't budge no matter how hard he pushed it. Crys looked around the room in frustration -- surely there'd be something to help him out? His eyes caught on a small pile of jams. Crys raised his eyebrows, but shrugged. "Guess I could probably unjam the door with jams. Probably. This place is weird enough it might work." Scooping up the jams, he smeared them against the hinges of the door in hopes to unstick them.

[columns][nextcol]The door acually accepted the Pinecorns, after rubbing all five against every nook and cranny of that thing, it acually burst open, much to the surprise of everyone after hearing the giant frog yell to feed the door. With a jump, he and the family entered the room, which is still covered in unfroggy slime. Inspecting the strange things, they found a staircase up and a shut jammed door. "Why should be *croak* go up again when we just came from there?" wonders the big guy and inspected the door with claw, eye and tongue. Tasting the door, he seemed to have found the problem. "This door needs mucus." he proclaimed, so he and his family started rubbing thier backs against the door, hoping to unjam the door with a healthy amount of wonderful frog mucus.

Confused but intrigued, I take out a jar of jam from my lunch earlier. Apricot flavoured. It's the superior flavour to strawberry. Strawberry jam is far too sickly sweet. Wait, you're getting distracted thinking about food! Time to unstick the door.

[columns][nextcol] Kellmite grinned as he slotted the pinecones into their places. The door swung open, and he bounded into the slimy room. Eada hesitated before following. There weren't any obvious ways to cross the room without touching the squishy-substance that covered the floor, so she reluctantly entered. Eada tried the door. “Jammed.” “Think jam'll help?” “What?” She turned to see Kellmite holding up a small jam-pot. “There was a stall selling these cheaply, so I picked some up.” “I'm not sure why that would- unless it works like a lubricant.” Eada thought for a moment and gave a small shrug. There was no harm in letting her sibling try his idea. She watched Kellmite unpack the little jars. The contents of some seemed more fluid than others, but one jar in particular caught her attention. It looked suspiciously like enchanted remains. “Is that even a jam?” “It's a preserve, right?” “Was anyone actually putting that on their food?” “Dunno. I don't like watching folks eat.” Eada couldn't stop herself from giving a small groan. Though a rural lifestyle acclimatised one to separating useful plants from dangerous ones, apparently it made judging culinary creations difficult. Hardly surprising when some of them were difficult to recognise as food in the first place.

[columns][nextcol]TFortuna pressed her foot into the floor, disliking the squishy texture, and decided to avoid stepping on this floor as much as possible. She looked around the room from the doorway and considered her options: stairs leading up, or a door which seemed to be in dire straits. "No sense in going up when I have already gone down," she muttered, and made a large leap over the floor to land in front of the door. She pushed on it, confirming its stubborn unmoving state. Yep, it needed a little R&R. But she didn't have any oil! However... she did have something just as good! She pulled out a jar of jelly leftover from her roadside lunch, pulled the lid off, and smeared the substance all over the door's hinges. Eyeing her slightly messy handiwork, she wondered briefly whether jam had some greater meaning in the rivers of time. Then she tried the door.

[columns][nextcol]Thinking back, I haven’t yet explained how I was able to open the door just now! Well, that poor Magic Card – who gave its life so I could precede my journey – did actually show me a picture of some Shimmering Pinecones. So, when I got that part of the code figured out, I also notice some rather odd shapes in the door I just hadn’t notice before. First, they looked like natural features of the wood, but when I inspected them more closely I was sure, they just had the right size to hold some of those pinecone I had stocked for Trickmurk Circus! And here we are!~ In a rather squishy-floored, decently sized room. Everything felt a little wobbly and unsteady as I walked around. After inspecting the room for a bit, I had the option to use the spiral staircase on the furthest wall – but, I was already feeling seasick! Who would use some spirally coiled winding stairs in a moment like this?! – or the a rather OK-looking door on my left. It seemed to be jammed shut, but I luckily recalled having packed jar of Electric Stingers jam from back home. While those jellyfish had indeed a nasty and particularly painful sting to them, their jelly-fied jam form was very delicious; and made a perfect lubricate for that chocked door.

[columns][nextcol]Calypso wasn't the stupidest of dragons, nor was he the cleverest, so when the door swung open he was partially surprised. Another thing that surprised him was the sight of a dragon that looked like a frog (or was it a frog that looked like a dragon?) rubbing themself against a door, along with several frogs doing the exact same thing. [[Yuubi’s dragon Gecko]] "What the . ." He blinked a couple times to make sure he wasn't going insane. Nope, they were definitely rubbing the door. "Uh, hello?" They ignored him. "What are you doing?" They kept ignoring him. He thought for a moment. Maybe throwing something at them would get their attention. Using the small amethyst, he grabbed some jellies straight from Ange's claws and threw them at the dragon-frog-thing and its friends.

[columns][nextcol]Pleased at having opened the door, Kuutamo looked around the room. There was a staircase ahead and a door on the left. He went up to the door and turned the knob, but couldn't get the door to open. He weighed his options. The door is jammed, but I'd rather not head upstairs just yet...I wonder if anything I brought might be of use? He looked through his bag, accidentally getting some residue from his Darketide Jellyfish lunch on his claw. Looking around like a misbehaving hatchling, he wiped the residue off on the door hinge. It's not like it could hurt...and maybe it will help?

[columns][nextcol]Vespera slipped the pinecones into the slots in the door and stepped back, wincing a little as the entry opened. She forced herself to keep from closing her eyes, however. She raised her claws, hoping to shield herself from anything that would come at her and prepared a blinding spell just in case. The hinges squeaked and the door hit the wall behind it, but nothing happened. It seemed like an ordinary room, but when Vespera ventured inside, the floor was squishy. It made it difficult to keep her balance, but she managed. In front of her was a spiral staircase. No way was she venturing up that thing. After all, tidbits from the books she had read said spiral stairs were made so that the ascending party would be at a disadvantage. Not that she was sure of the exact mechanics of it, but she would rather not risk it. She glanced around to find a door to her left and slipped and slid her way over towards it. Dragons squared off against creatures and codes while others searched rooms and hallways. However, all the adventurers find themselves in increasingly bizarre situations with every new room. Some have begun to notice the range of magical and mechanical experiences that all somehow lead to the same place. Curiouser and curiouser.
[Attic]
ui1PTEH.png
You successfully decode the message and track down some Shimmering Pinecones. (Thank goodness for those amethysts…) After inserting the Shimmering Pinecones into a port on the side of the machine, a lever glows with a pale lavender glow. Pressing it makes the machine emit a high-pitched whine and spit out an amethyst labelled "Attic". Might as well take it. ___ As you float along the corridor, the depth of the dust mountains makes you feel a little grateful you don't have to walk in them. You float for what feels like forever (but is probably just a few slow minutes).

You find yourself in a circular room with many stacked boxes. The room almost seems hazy between the dim light and heavy dust in the air. Briefly, there was a faint sound coming from the right, like a tiny bell ringing.

Eight (8) dragons searched to their right in the direction of the bell, and four (4) dragons checked the boxes to the left.

[Slime Laboratory]
yoxMEwW.png
Your fingers are nimble enough to swiftly exchange the precious gems; you now have a "Slime Laboratory" amethyst. You turn it over in your claws trying to figure out how to activate it. Whatever it is that you did, the gem lights up in a purple flash and you find yourself in another unfamiliar space. _ The mountains of dust seem to grow the farther into the corridor you walk. Unfortunately, the dust hid a safety hazard: rotted floors. You are already composing a negative Yelp review as you fly through the air. _ You successfully decode the message and track down some Shimmering Pinecones. (Thank goodness for those amethysts…) Once you have the code figured out, you notice there are other shapes in the door that you didn’t notice before. They looked like natural features of the wood, but on closer inspection they seem to be just the right size to hold those pinecones. Weird.

The floor is squishy.

[Slime Dungeon]
XrherpU.png
You throw the Even More Beautiful Boulder in the general direction of the open door. It doesn’t do much for the tingly feeling, and when you miss your target by a large margin, an explosion of energy throws you back and down! _ Seems that the scales were wired to some sort of alarm system - a trapdoor opens under your feet when you try to swap out the amethyst. You land quite uncomfortably in the middle of a hallway. _ Something went wrong. Enormous bolts lock down the door all at once. With no way through, you continue down the hallway. _ Strange graffiti? In my dungeon? It's a trap! Moving on…

The floors of the corridor you find yourself in slope rather sharply down, yet open into a huge room with gated cages. Most of the cages are empty, all except one. And the door is open. Fortunately, the brown furry creature is sleeping comfortably.

Nine (9) dragons took up arms to face the beast. Meanwhile, three (3) dragons felt it was wiser to hurry past before the creature woke up.

Below you will find the collection of in-character choices offered by adventurers.

He peers at the numerous boxes, no two being the exact same in terms of color or size. There didn't appear to be an additional exit to this room, so perhaps he could turn-

His crests perk at the faint tinkling, Yuuri twisting around to zero in on a stack that partially hid what seems to be the largest box in the room. It is broad, smooth, and- once he swipes a bit of dust away -may have once held a shiny lilac hue.

Hmm.

He wonders if there could be something of use hiding within…

31108249.png Dusk frowned as he looked around, holding the Shimmering Pinecones in his hand.

She pushes into the next room and then quickly pulls the cones back out of the door before it closes. Door to her left looks odd, the spiral staircase in front of her is dark. There seems to be tables in front to her right. She quickly moves over to check those and inspects though for a few minutes.

He'd seen how well taking the staircase had gone last time, and he wasn't about to make that mistake again if he could help it, so he trotted over to the door. It appeared to be jammed, and it wouldn't budge no matter how hard he pushed it. Crys looked around the room in frustration -- surely there'd be something to help him out? His eyes caught on a small pile of jams. Crys raised his eyebrows, but shrugged. "Guess I could probably unjam the door with jams. Probably. This place is weird enough it might work."
Scooping up the jams, he smeared them against the hinges of the door in hopes to unstick them.

There weren't any obvious ways to cross the room without touching the squishy-substance that covered the floor, so she reluctantly entered.

Eada tried the door.
“Jammed.”
“Think jam'll help?”
“What?” She turned to see Kellmite holding up a small jam-pot.
“There was a stall selling these cheaply, so I picked some up.”
“I'm not sure why that would- unless it works like a lubricant.” Eada thought for a moment and gave a small shrug. There was no harm in letting her sibling try his idea. She watched Kellmite unpack the little jars. The contents of some seemed more fluid than others, but one jar in particular caught her attention. It looked suspiciously like enchanted remains.
“Is that even a jam?”
“It's a preserve, right?”
“Was anyone actually putting that on their food?”
“Dunno. I don't like watching folks eat.”
Eada couldn't stop herself from giving a small groan. Though a rural lifestyle acclimatised one to separating useful plants from dangerous ones, apparently it made judging culinary creations difficult. Hardly surprising when some of them were difficult to recognise as food in the first place.

30045934.png TFortuna pressed her foot into the floor, disliking the squishy texture, and decided to avoid stepping on this floor as much as possible.

Of course it was jammed shut. But, if she just had something a little bit slippery with which to lubricate the hinges. Perhaps jelly? She had some left over from lunch. It was worth a try, if nothing else.
