in exchange for its life, a nervous-looking feline creature would nudge a smaller feline towards me. before i could object, it would escape, practically worried for its life. the smaller cat was an affectionate type, already rubbing its scent on my legs. "aren't you a cute one?," i murmured. to preserve this cat's life, i headed home. there was no other place to keep him aside from in the vault where we'd keep the treasure that we wanted to hide from raiders. "stay here, okay?"
gradually, i grew attached to this cat. i wanted to find more and more friends for him, whom i had named leo, namesake of his mane-like chest fur. my former assailants began to give me more and more of the small felines, who would proceed to be kept inside of the vault.
however, to my shock, i would eventually be forced to the servitude of our deity. mortified, i tried to fight the escort, who wouldn't listen to my pleas. i've been here for so long. i don't know what could have happened to them.
we were looking for some more food for our gradually growing clan. i didn't think that what i found would make me sick to my stomach, calling for the leader of our small band of dragons. it had been a while since we had needed to go to our stash of food that we kept in a nearby cave, and i had expected that the cold would have preserved our now little sustenance, preventing it from rotting. entering the cave, i was horrified to see what appeared to be what was previously hundreds of.. cats? left to rot. to stay alive, they had resorted to eating things outside of their diet, eventually leading to cannibalism among one another. bodies were strewn across the frigid rock floor, the bones visible under expanses of winter coat. one living creature was seen among the lifeless bodies, a larger cat, visible fear and desperation visible in his eyes. life among the horror that had swept over this formerly thriving little cave of what would almost grow to be our food, only stopped by a friend of mine exalted to the earthshaker. was this leo? i know that she would have wanted him to be safe. i was horrified at what had happened here, chanting in my head to announce that we needed to stop hoarding living creatures. it wasn't safe or moral, even for us.
based off the drama of the cat food items and the way that some of us hoard them, myself included :]
