Flight Rising Discussion

So, I'm lowkey considering switching- and if I do switch, it'll be later this year. However, I don't view Arcane as a permanent settlement. The community is great but, sigh. I got too into the dominance overhaul and when things started going bad in terms as listening to each other, I wasn't too into it.

Due to Arcane, I want a family community, one to joke around with! And one that can whip straight into shape when they wanna push for dominance. I'm not interested in any other pushes other than conquest and profit... I don't know if other flights have other ones, haha.

I want to join a flight that has a profit push at least once every other month? Once every month preferred, and have recent standings in first/second place during a conquest!

Dominance is a huge part of FlightRising for me! Though I'm not hardcore, and I certainly don't have hundreds of exalts, I do enjoy communities that I see work as hard as me (probably with higher outcomes than I do), and then enjoying the results. I believe that surrounding myself with people who exalt many dragons will result in higher things for me as well!


I think I'm most highly interested in the Lightning flight, so I would love if many.. sparks (?) would tell me about how their dominance set up works, and also a little bit about forums? I'd also mainly like to know who, or how many, people run dominance? And how organized it is?

From Arcane I know that for how disorganized we are, we pull together really nice! So I think it'd be awesome to hear from a flight that's mostly organized!

I'm also super interested in ice, wind, and light.

However! I find all of the flights really interesting and may be intrigued to learn more about other flights. ANYWAY.

Just switched to Lightning from Arcane, and I love it here. Arcane was dear to my heart, but I really do fit into Lightning quite well.

Dom: As far as I know, Lightning generally pushes like, once a month. There are plans, apparently, to redo the main dominance thread to make it more organized - we only have one big one atm for convenience and organization, which is extremely organized with links but may need to be touched up in the future (although I think it's fine, but I'm a new member so I can't say for sure).

There are leaders for 9 dom subsections, mainly regarding raffles, spreadsheets, general questions, etc.


Forums: The forms are generally really active. We have large science threads among lots of other random topic threads.

Hello! Ice flighter here! I hope I can give you some insight into Ice flight with this. If you have any other questions, I'd be happy to answer.

As far as dom goes, we have many various programs related to it.
Warden's Special Forces - Trains dragons to level 20-25 for exaltation in future dom battles.
Snow Bank - Runs while we profit push. Helps fund lair expansions and raises funds for future conquest pushes.
We've also been starting to do some extra things around reg windows to hopefully get newer members interested in dominance.

Arch used to be our main "dom organizer." She still very much is, but recently some of our other members have also taken on a more active role in dominance organization so that we can do more things when it comes to dom, and hopefully become better at dominance in the process.

We're very big on organization here. We have a tag system set up in our forums so that people can more easily browse the forums and find what type of thread they're looking for. Our forums are a bit slower than average for our flight size, but there's something here for everyone. We love having fun and joking around, but we know when to serious about things like dom.

I'm part of the Lightning dominance team, so I can talk about dom. We're currently like about to remake the main dominance thread (we remade our directory like last week) and we're going through some changes and trying to be more organised and such after I ran a survey after the nature vs lightning battle to see what we needed to do as a flight to improve and become like super great at dominance again, because we've sort of slipped from our perch

we need more dedicated pushers, I'll be honest - we're trying to get a lot of none dominance people into it via like lots of different ways, I mean, last conquest push we paid users to raid the auction house and exalt in the last few hours!

we're reworking teams, have a super organised spreadsheet for all pushes (a lot of people commented that is was very useful in our last conquest push in the anonymous survey, which will now actually be run by me every conquest push)

other things we have - we have a lair expansion program, a bank in which users can sign up to pay weekly tax (completely optional!), a 50/50 raffle (half money raised goes to dominance bank, half to a daily winner), leveling service for people unable to train their own exalting dragons, a bunch of guides to different dom team builds, a renting service to rent level 25 dragons, an exalt canon challenge, an anonymous suggestion box (besides survey thread), a battlestone bank, soup kitchen and a gene support group

we're also quite a useful and helpful community - we love to talk science and have some science threads and some gaming threads (we like to play games) and are generally just helpful and supportive as a group of people. I also recently started a big lightning lore discussion project thread thing, and we're working on some cool subspecies!

we have an irc, a skype chat and a steam group - and our dominance team meets mostly weekly to talk about what we need to do to improve and using the survey and suggestion box we listen to everything that is said to help improve dominance for everyone - and yes, we push once a month, though any chance we can see at a victory...

@HolliKyo I can vouch for Ice and Wind.

Ice goes hardcore. It's really one of the only things you'll ever see in the forum threads. Yes there is a strong sense of community, and yes everyone loves off topic discussions, but Ice has a huge thing that everyone possible should participate in dom pushes.

As for Wind, we're a huge flight and it's extremely hard to get organized (this week, for example, I believe we didn't push Beastclans from first until closer to the end of the night). Most of our forums are off topic goofy things. Yes the flight loves corgis, no the entire forum is not infested with them. Dom participation is encouraged but not pressured in the slightest.

Despite our reputation, Wind is rather organized. The council keeps things in shape and , even though we're a big flight, we still hold our own on the dom boards. Plus the community is responsive, kind, and overall great!

@gootarts I'll miss so much more than just the emojipede ;u;. I know you understand. Arcane always, and still does, feel like my true home. I woud love to go back in time and just never get involved with the Letter From Plague, and never get into this Slack. I would've found Czar and still meet you, Arietta, and many other members. However, the Slack chat has really stressed me out to the point of crying and getting overly upset and I really don't want that ;~; Because Arcane and FlightRising are fun and I want to remember it as such. I've tried taking a break, but I feel a duty to come back online. A lot of the people on Slack don't like me for hypocritical reasons and that makes me a little angry. Seeing certain people passively target me as soon as I get online is not something I want. For the longest time I thought it was normal. But it's not. I talked to my friends in Lightning and Wind. It's not normal. At all. But thank you, Goo, for making this post a little bit lighter ;u;
