>> Through the thorns
Shifting uncomfortably, the small Skydancer gazed at the suspiciously clear path ahead. It seemed... too clear, but they didn't really know their path back either. They glanced at the thorns. They could squeeze through, right? They were just a small hatchling.
Bracing themselves, the small Skydancer turned toward the largest opening in the thorns and eyed them threateningly. Those plants wouldn't dare stand in the way of them! ... They blushed at their own encouragement but plunged into the menacing plants nonetheless.
They whimpered, wincing at the stinging pain that the thorns induced as they opened their tender flesh with their sharp edges.
Wiggling and squirming, they continued onward with increasing difficultly, until the thorns loosened leaving them some room to rest without getting jabbed. It was a good thing they weren't claustrophobic though, the thorns encased them from all sides... with no noticeable exit spot.
They sat there, gazing around. It was all bramble, only the ground underneath them wasn't a thorn covered plant, but it was just hard, bare dirt.
They were about to loose all hope until a bobbing blue purple, spectral flame made it's way through the brambles and danced right next to them. A fox like face poked it's way through soon after. It was hard to see the colors, but it looked purple and redish brown with amber eyes.
The soft glowing of other spectral flames seemed to come from within the brambles, adding just a bit more light to the area and the fox creature.
They stared at each other for a moment before the creature spoke. "What is a dragon like you doing in a place like this?" It seemed confused about a bit more than just a lost hatchling, but the small Skydancer didn't know what it was. "Do you... Do you need help?" The question seemed to be more of a hesitant afterthought.
