A wave of confusion hits you as you open your eyes. Below you is a misty, liquid surface.Where am I? What am I?
Blinking sleepily, you look around and spot eleven other beings. They seem equally confused--some pinching themselves as if checking if it was a dream, some experimenting with their new form.
There seems to be a distant hum coming from somewhere. Turning your head around, you spot a circle of runes. A winged being sits in the middle of the circle. They turn their head to you and wave, beckoning you to join them.
“Hello, little one. I am Storm, the creator of this universe. I know you have many questions to ask. Feel free to do so...”
“What is this place? What am I? What are tho-”
“One question at a time, my dear. You are a wisp living in this universe. Universes are bubbles of reality that can be created by beings like me. They are formed according to the creator’s imagination, so every universe is different. Bringing a universe into existence is no easy thing. The details are too complicated for a normal wisp to understand, but in short, these runes played a huge part in this. Their power is mainly depleted when the universe was created, but they are still capable of giving out small amounts of Qi for wisps like you..”
“Qi?”
“It is a form of energy that is needed to sustain the form of wisps. Apart from that, it gives the wisp some sort of power, depending on which rune it is. However, it depletes in one day, so you’d need to replenish your Qi by touching another rune every day.”
You nod blankly, half-understanding their words. They smile and turn to where the eleven other wisps are.
“Oh, all of you are awake. Let us begin.”
She beckons the others here, and not long after that, the twelve of you are standing before the circle of runes.
You close your eyes, feeling the hum emanating from the runes. Your heart seems to thrum along with one of them.
Letting your heart guide you, you find the rune. You close your eyes as you place your hand on it.
