Welcome to Nature's Real Life Scavenger Hunt!

I'm Charliex8 and I'll be your host for this (hopefully) fantastic event!

The idea is to get you out and about, noticing and enjoying the wonders of Nature! This year's Greenskeeper Gathering theme is Endangered Plants and Animals. The wildlife closer to home may not be endangered, but it's still very important to be aware and protect what we already have. You never know what species will need help in the future...

I understand that not everyone is able to get outside so I have included a wide range of challenges to suit everyone! While most require a visit to the outside world, there are many indoor tasks to take part in! So come on in and take a look around!

White Backed Vulture

The White Backed Vulture comes from Africa and is Critically Endangered. Vultures are the best known scavengers around, soaring the skies looking for carrion. The vulture can find it's food from a mile or more away using it's excellent sense of sight and smell! Unfortunately this beautiful bird is struggling in the wild due to habitat loss and pesticide use. Vultures may be gross, but they are a vital part of the ecosystem, cleaning up rotting flesh from the landscape and preventing disease from spreading. Without vultures, diseases like rabies and anthrax would be greatly accelerated so it is of great importance that these amazing animals be protected.

How to Play

This is going to work a lot like a real scavenger hunt. I give you a list of items to search for but instead of collecting the items, you take a photograph of them! All entries will need to include a piece of paper with your username on, to ensure no one grabs any off the internet. This will be rather bothersome but this is not a photography contest. I highly recommend using bold lettering on your paper. It doesn't matter if your photo is a blurry mess or far away as long as I can see the item. You might want to point your item out to me if it's far away or easy to miss.

If there's anything you don't understand please ping me!

There are three categories in this scavenger hunt:

The Hunt is On! - This list contains naturey items you might find while out and about.

Activity Quests - This is a list of activities for you to try. Some are outdoor activities and some can be done inside.

Creative Challenges - These challenges require a bit of creativity! Most can be done inside though it's encouraged you go outside if you can.

Completing an activity will reward you points to enter in the raffle. Prizes can be seen a few posts below.

This is a beautiful picture but my username is nowhere to be seen so I can't accept this entry. You are encouraged to stay and take better pictures like I did here though. And you are very welcome to share them in the thread if you are extra pleased with them.

Please use this form to enter! You should use this form for each individual entry however you may use the same post for them all. I will try to keep up with all entries so please ping me if you make any changes to your original post so I can keep the spreadsheet up to date and make sure your entries count.

Upload your photos to your favourite image sharing website (I like imgur best) And share a link to your photo in this thread. Try to avoid posting big images in this thread to stop things getting too laggy, but you are welcome to post small images (similar size to my examples) as long as I can click to see your fullsized photo.

Rules

All entries must be in by 28th May 23:45 FR Time. Any post edited after this time will be disqualified

This event is open to all flights, including Nature

All entries must be your own work. Any entries I suspect as being stolen will be disqualified

You may only use a photo in one challenge even if it can be entered into multiple challenges. For example a photo featuring a bird and clouds can only be entered in either the bird challenge or cloud challenge. Not both

All photographic entries must include a piece of paper with your username in. Photoshopping or manipulating photos is not allowed. Cropping is allowed as long as your username is still visible

All Writing and drawing entries must be signed with your username

Ticket drawing will hopefully start a day or two after the finish date

As sole runner of this event, I have the right to decline any entry that isn't appropriate or does not follow the rules. Rules may be added If things don't go to plan or I missed anything

No Pets or Zoos allowed unless otherwise stated

Stay safe while hunting for these items. Ask permission where needed and be careful when outside. The world can be a dangerous place

The Hunt is On!

1. Tree - 10 points

Trees are amazing! So much oxygen for us! Take a picture of any tree you fancy. Maybe try to find an interesting angle. All trees are unique!

To earn points for this challenge just try to find a geocache! Take a picture of your phone or GPS showing how close you got to finding it. Get within 40 meters to earn your points!

What was the weather like? Can't get out on a walk? Try making up a short story about what your walk would be like.

Writing Challenge! No pictures required. Your story must include the following words - Grass, Bee, Tree, Wildlife, Nature . Stories should be a least 8 sentences long. Please don't make it too long.

27. Draw a Flower - 20 points

No artistic skill is needed! Just try your best! Find a flower either outside or even the internet, and try your best to draw it. Your drawing must be coloured or shaded but can be drawn in any medium. Digital, pencil, pen, paint...

28. Draw an Animal - 20 points

No artistic skill is needed! Just try your best! Any animal or insect counts! Even pets are allowed in this one! Your drawing must be coloured or shaded but can be drawn in any medium. Digital, pencil, pen, paint...

29. Make a Bird Feeder - 20 points

If feeding wild birds is a problem where you live, why not try making a butterfly feeder instead? There's a few idea's on how to make one over here

Rocks, shells, fallen leaves, twigs, and feathers are great materials to use for crafting!
