Dolls and figurines
And earrings, all sorts of things

There's bookshelves full of plants
And totems carved from wood
Strange inventions from every element
A true hoard of everything imaginable
A sight to behold

Flesh is better when it's young
Meat tender, muscles soft
Sweet from food and loving care
Sheltered but vulnerable

Come little children,
Follow me into the shrieking wilds
Like a pied piper to a pack of rats
A siren song so sweet

Like a shadow, like a bad penny
I follow, waiting for the right time
When your defenses are lowered
And your body tired
I'll strike

Leave no cradle unguarded
Leave no window unlocked
Can you really be sure that the child is yours?
You'll find out soon enough

All you know is pain
And suffering
Like Prometheus and his eagles
Taken apart again and again,
For gods know how long

You've been beaten and broken
Bruised and battered -
For what purpose?
Who would be as cruel as this?

So pry open the door,
Break the locks, unlatch the chains
And hope - you understand
That this is kindness
Not another cruelty.

Broken things can be fixed
And time does heal wounds
You'll have scars, yes
And it won't be easy
But scars are signs of healing

One day you'll be alright

Wastelands, badlands
Red dust and rolling hills
A land of fire and ash
Valleys of sand
Destruction, desolation

High up on a hill
Lies the burning bush
Fire flowers flicker
Like ashes and ember
They only grow where fire burns
A figure of smoke wreathed light

A cycle of death and rebirth
Wrapped up in a struggle
Old as time and space
Fight fire with fire
And rise again
Like a phoenix from a bed of ash

This is a big, big world
But I've always been bigger
Steady on my feet once I get my bearings
I land upright all the time

I know the ways of birds
The weight of a feather
The turn of a wing
How hollow bones help flight

A treat here, encouragement there
You'd be amazed at how smart a songbird is
Or a parrot, a dire vulture or a roc
Be it sweet songs, happy antics

Who said cats and birds can't be friends?
Is there anything as soft and perfect,
As a sun warmed cat
Purring engine
Pleased smile,
A penchant for boxes
And mischief
