Soon, you come across what appears to be a settlement in the Reedcliff Ascent; a few of the cliffs were entirely cleared of bamboo and connected by carefully constructed bridges, the outermost cliffs having finely carved bamboo walls. Jutting above the wall, you spy various buildings of stone and bamboo, some with flags on their roofs, flapping in the breeze. As you approach what appears to be the entrance, you find an interesting symbol carved into the bamboo door and painted with brilliant oranges and reds. It resembles the Wind Flight symbol, but fractured by a single lightning bolt and surrounded by fluttering leaves. As you attempt to examine it more closely, the door swings open to reveal a grey and orange Guardian, who offers you a smile.
"Ah, a visitor! A pleasure to meet you. I am Nantis, King of the Galestorm Flyers, perhaps you would like to come in? The Platforms will be docking soon."

Origins

Nantis entered into the world alone, as his mother had to abandon his nest when one of the tempests that wreaked havoc on the Shifting Expanse collapsed their lair. Though his siblings did not survive the extreme heat of the desert, Nantis was lucky enough to not roast inside his egg and hatched half buried by sand. His hatchlinghood was spent scavenging what little food could be found in the harsh landscape, but the nutrient depleated plants and small lizards were not enough to sustain a growing Guardian easily. Once he learned to fish in the nearby oasis, Nantis began to grow rapidly and soon set out to explore the desert in a passionate Search for his Charge.
It was not too terribly long before he discovered Elspeth--injured after a vicious battle with beastclans and separated from her hunting pack--and took her in as his charge, despite her protests. The stubborn Mirror dragon vehemently refused to stay in one place for long, so only a week after Nantis first bandaged her wounds, Elspeth tried to leave. Nantis, of course, followed her and once again convinced her to return to their makeshift home so he could rebandage her wounds, though she did so with a grain of salt. After nine long months of this on repeat, Nantis finally managed to convince Elspeth to stay with him, as their troubles had resulted in a strangely budding romance. The pair were not kindred spirits, but Elspeth’s need for company since being abandoned by her pack left a spot for Nantis in her heart. Nantis, as soft-hearted as he was, couldn’t help but see the strength of Elspeth as an inspiration. It seemed to be a mutual understanding that they would do something grand together, and it became clear they wanted to begin a clan.

The pair set out to begin a clan together, and soon located a suitable mesa to build their lair in and around. As they began to excavate the land to suit their needs, they discovered an ancient tunnel system leading to what could only be a magical prison. Not long after they began welcoming dragons into their clan, a Shade-Touched mage known as Geth attacked, apparently intent on destroying the prison beneath the ground. With the help of the clan, Nantis and Elspeth pushed the mage into the prison and locked it, sealing Geth away in hopes of keeping the world safe. They named their clan the Galestorm Flyers, calling it a home for dragons who knew not where they stood in the world. With Nantis as leader alongside Elspeth, the Flyers took to preventing Geth--who was later dubbed the Dark Queen--from escaping while thriving in the harsh Shifting Expanse.
Eventually, Nantis grew weary of their life. Though he was tired of the constant warring with the Dark Queen, he found the competative and production-focused lifestyle of the Lightning flight to weigh heavy on his soul. Though it took great finess and coaxing from both Elspeth and Serasorth--who had joined the romance between the King and Queen some time ago--Nantis eventually relented to chasing his dreams, for once. The Flyers packed their things and moved to the Windswept Plateau, where their lifestyle shifted from production to creation. Now free to enjoy the more artistic side of life, Nantis continues to lead the Flyers in their struggle against the Dark Queen.

Within the clan, Nantis is seen as a well-respected, kind, and dependable king. He is a regal figure, moving with grace and stability and speaking in measured paces. Nantis tends to be quite expressive with his dialogue and tone, which fosters strong relationships with his clanmates. He works to mediate arguments without bias, prefering to pursue justice by truth rather than justice by his thoughts. He offers his underlings a sense of friendship and a shoulder to lean on, though will fight tooth and claw to defend them without remorse. He has been known to call his clan his “secondary charge”, though he regards Elspeth as his primary one, much to her ire. Nantis' occasional hesitation has been known to cost the clan chances and resources that they could never recover, though Elspeth has helped offset this with her somewhat impulsive nature. Serasorth in turn offsets Elspeth’s tendency to leap to conclusions, ensuring Nantis has time to consider things without second guessing himself.

Contrary to Nantis’ regal nature in clanlife, he is soft and gentle as a husband, prefering to watch his wife and husband flourish in their own manner rather than taking control. He first fell for Elspeth because of her feisty nature and the spite that seemed to fuel her hunger for life, something the lonely Guardian had never experienced. The way she hungered for a life of her own with no one standing in her way inspired him, and conversations were never dull with her sharp wit. He regards Elspeth as his other soul, the side willing to shed the blood and tears necessary to improve their clan when he could not. Though Nantis cannot pinpoint when he fell for Serasorth, he knows it is the healer’s quiet support that caused the love to blossom. Having first been close friends with Serasorth, Nantis had always found himself gravitating towards the Imperial for various dilemas, and when Serasorth needed the favor returned he never questioned it. Somewhere along the way, the quiet conversations and gentle support turned to something more romantic, allowing Nantis to explore a side of his attraction he never realized. To Nantis, Serasorth is a symbol of hope, as the healer had conquered so many obstacles thrown in his path and still looked at life with a sense of wonder and love. Now, Nantis strives to guide Serasorth away from the fears and self-doubt brought about by the loss of Darkfury, hoping to show the Imperial exactly how brilliant he is.
