In another time, in another universe, there is a different set of gods, some benevolent, some malevolent, some with moralities unknown. However, one thing can be agreed upon: the goddess called Theia is a destructive narcissist. Such a narcissist, in fact, that she decided to make a race that looked just like her and that was one of the strongest races ever created. Thus, the THEIANS were made, with feline features and strong ties to Theia’s fiery magic. However, they did not share her personality, and so, after a time, she abandoned them for new projects.
The Theians took to this in differing ways; some were relieved to be free of Theia’s constant attempts to make them more warlike; some were indifferent, and continued living as they had. But others still had appreciated Theia’s guidance, and grieved in her absence. Then, seeing that she would not return, they became desperate for a leader for their people to obey, in contrast to the many peaceful tribes that had formed. Thus, SPECTRUM was crafted.
And “Crafted” is the right word to use, for the desperate ones, who now referred to themselves as “The Cult Order of Creation”, tore their fellow people apart in search of the most “fitting” limbs and flesh, then stitched it all together before bringing the being to life with the strongest magical rituals and sacrifices they could possibly use. And it would not have worked, if the Cult had not attracted the attention of the Progenitor God, whose name will remain unknown. They saw the potential of this creation, and knew what was going to happen, and They personally blessed the birth of Spectrum, who came to life.
Spectrum was trained in leadership and magic, and because of the Progenitor God’s blessing, she improved at an exponential rate, and was almost ready to rise to lead the Theians. But then, a terrifying force took a hold of one of the magical Dragonstaves, one third of the Progenitor God’s power- once a simple human girl, warped by the overwhelming power, now a relentless force of destruction, hunting gods and mortals alike. Sensing the large amount of power Spectrum held, this girl tracked the world down and confronted Spectrum and the Cult.
The resulting battle was long and arduous, but ultimately Spectrum had strategy where the girl, Jessie, did not, and she stabilized Jessie. However, the Cult had been nearly destroyed in the fight, its leaders dead and its members either dead or injured severely. Spectrum had no home to return to, and neither did Jessie; so they created one. A special dimensional plane taking the form of an island base, where they could do as they pleased.
All was good. All was well.
And then NIGHTMARE happened.
Nightmare was a demonic being created by one of the gods that survived Jessie’s rampage, and had gotten her hands on the other Dragonstaff. As had happened with Jessie, Nightmare lost control of the power, but instead of attempting omnicide, since she was already evil, she just accidentally and permanently altered the fabric of reality. Whoops. The power shockwave hit many different universes, including this one... and that’s where the Stitched come in.

Spectrum originally didn’t exist in this universe. But when the shockwave hit, the memories of the Cult Order of Creation were implanted into some dragon’s heads. These dragons connected with each other and reformed the Cult, marking themselves with the stitches Spectrum bears as a mark of her creation.

Now, the Cult is still weak. It is focused on gaining members to unite Sornieth under Spectrum’s rule. They’re conveniently ignoring that Spectrum’s not that interested in ruling a whole world.
The members of the Cult have a unique connection to another set of gods from a different dimension, due to the machinations of Nightmare. The regular members tend to be very serious and spiritual in nature, and wholeheartedly believe in the divinity of Spectrum, their figurehead. The Cult's current goal is to raise Spectrum to full godhood, and plan to do the same with other dragons in the future. Really, the whole cult is about deconstructing the concept of divinity for the purpose of having a leader they believe in. Most of the members are dragons who feel forsaken by the Eleven, and who joined to regain a sense of universal and existential purpose that they lost. Most, if not all, are connected quite deeply to magic, which is what allowed them to receive the signal.
Inverted Stitched are the ones who received the signs, but who could not handle them. Some were already marked by darkness, while others willingly turned to it in an attempt to comprehend the magic signal. They seem to sometimes not exist in this realm, flickering in and out of shadows, with only their telltale stitches binding them to reality. The Cult would like them tracked down and registered, for if the darkness can be purged from them, they can become useful members.
