Tales of The Valley of Descant Chimes
A Chronicle
A Chronicle
In the beginning, there was creation. Not long after, there was destruction.
Our world, the world of Sornieth, has been created, and, subsequently, destroyed, thrice. The magic that is our very life-blood is also our curse. Such powers always have their price, and more often than not, the price is the pride and thoughtlessness that leads to our downfall.
Our world, the world of Sornieth, has been created, and, subsequently, destroyed, thrice. The magic that is our very life-blood is also our curse. Such powers always have their price, and more often than not, the price is the pride and thoughtlessness that leads to our downfall.
The Gods have their flaws.
We know this, for we have been made in their image.
We know this, for we have been made in their image.
There is hope, however, for the gods, for Sornieth, and ultimately, ourselves.
We must learn from the mistakes of the past,
We must insure that our history is not forgotten.
We must insure that our history is not forgotten.
Windsinger, our patron god, realized this, and has entrusted us with our sacred task…
To record all of the events of Sornieth, so that they will not be forgotten.
To record all of the events of Sornieth, so that they will not be forgotten.
Not our biggest mistakes….
Or our smallest triumphs.
Or our smallest triumphs.
-Eupnea, The First Scribe
This is the first page of Metamorphosis of Sky, what is generally held as the root of The Bamboo Library, The journal of Eupnea, the Founder of The Descant Scribes. The long history of the Valley of The Descant Scribes starts within its fragile pages… But those tales can wait for another day, I think. Today, I will tell you of the Valley of Descant Chimes...
Nestled in their hidden valley, the Scribes of The Descant Chimes devote themselves to the transcription and study of voices brought to them through the wind, using the curious effects of the layout of the valley and their ancient wind chimes to translate. To the outside clans of wind dragons, the life of a Scribe sounds tedious and sedentary, but these Windsinger's children find that ensuring the secrets, the songs and stories, and the knowledge the wind brings from all across Sornieth are remembered are worth any price.
The Valley itself is currently nestled in the Reedcleft Ascent. It is a magical place, steeped in elemental energy. Through a complex blend of terrain engineering and divine intervention, the Valley of Descant Chimes is where all winds, weary from their travels, free themselves of their burdens… The Tales of Sornieth. The Scribes write down everything the winds bring them, dutifully archiving it in the massive bamboo stalk known as The Bamboo Library. The bamboo is each year growing ever higher, the collection in the library grows as much as the bamboo does. Surrounding the Library is Muted Basin, a large deep lake that has a strange energy all its own... Well, let's just say... the water encourages silence.
The groves of the Scribes are numerous and varied, each designed to attract certain winds carrying certain things. Not all of the valley is Scribes, however. There is also the village of Flourish. The current residents of Flourish are mostly Fae dragons, known as The Fae Players, a group of thespians and bards. The other dragons who live in Flourish lead calm, harmonious lives in their various trades... And are always warm to any visitors to the Valley. Any visitors are treated with the utmost respect, for as wondrous as the Valley is, it is kept secret from the outside world. The only way to find the valley is if the wind brings you...
Well, after all that, I believe introductions are in order! My name is AlchemyFox, and this is my Clan Lore. My clan is, in fact, a Lore clan, and I'm very excited to share it with you! Err... it's going to be a bit of a rough start, and I'm not sure how often I can get updating and making this thread pretty, but I'm going to try my best~
