Deities and Demigods
Though all - or most - of Dragonkind revere the Eleven, there are still a number of other traditions, mostly varying by region. A particularly powerful spirit or elemental may be worshiped as a lesser god, and many clans revere their ancestors and past heroes as well.
Diamond Hides
Whispered stories tell of dragons born ordinary, who through dedication and proximity to the Earthshaker take on hides of shining diamond or shimmering opal. Some say there are many, while others contend there can be only one at a time, or that only those exalted to the Earthshaker's service can truly undergo the transformation. Whatever the truth is, gembond and similar afflictions are viewed not as a curse but as a sign of wisdom and transcendence.
Exalted Ones
Dragonhome's harsh environment and increasingly aggressive beastclans force Clan Menhir to remain small or risk exhausting their resources. It's not unusual for young dragons, once they are old enough to fend for themselves, to be sent to join other clans. Their survival skills make them an asset to most clans, and adaptable to nearly any climate.
Among those who remain, many undertake special training to strengthen body and mind, in hopes of being chosen to serve the Earthshaker directly. The clan views these preparations as a sacred duty, and only after completing their training and being blessed by the clan's spiritual leaders may a young dragon depart on his or her pilgrimage. They are permitted no weapons or armor, and only such food as they can find along the way.
While not all succeed, it is said that those who survive the journey are counted among the Earthshaker's most stalwart soldiers. These Exalted Ones are respected as if living ancestors, and though few return to the clan, even a short visit is considered a great honor for all present.
Immortal Tricksters
While old age claims a few dragons, most fall to battle or illness long before, or make the long journey to the Earthshaker's side instead. But there are some few, the stories say, who found a way to outsmart Death herself. A game of cards, a winning smile, a gamble gone just right - the details vary from tale to tale. Perhaps some stories are just too good to end.
The Navigators
The coastal clans of Northern Dragonhome worship not only their own ancestors, but a collective group of ancient explorers known as the Navigators. For fair winds, clear skies, a good catch and safe harbor, the Navigators are the first - and only- to hear their petitions. The Tidelord is respected, but his reach, it is felt, does not extend so far as the salty northern sea. Better to rely on those who knew it best in their own time.
The Twins And The Third Brother
A regional tale of Eastern Dragonhome: there was, one day, a gust of magic - and the next, a dragon-who-was-not-a-dragon-at-all appeared where once there had been nothing more than a dozing willow tree. Alone, he called out to his brother, who answered at once, and they set about planting their lair with trees and flowers, birds and beasts of all kinds. This was enough for them.
A second tale: The wind blew the magic north, and danced with the sea water for a time, and another emerged, with shining scales and a throat full of song. "Here I am, brothers!" he called out as he returned - on his own two wings, the wind having been exhausted by its efforts. So then there were three.
