In the darkest hours of the Night of the Nocturne, the Shadowbinder's children flooded the realm, touching every corner of Sornieth that they could. Her most precious one though had a gift specifically for a royal family. The Shadowbinder had been wronged by a family long ago, one who thought they could get away. Since the family had long since locked itself within their kingdom, the great Shadowbinder could not reach them. She tracked the family the best that she could, until one day, the perfect opportunity fell into her lap. A young and beautiful Spiral by the name of Narcissa was a selfish, spoiled, rotten child. She was raised in an Ice Clan with many members of her royal family. Well aware of her status, she showed no love or care for anyone. Thus, the dark prince set upon her this curse - "You will have a hundred hatchlings and every one of them shall not be yours. For you show no love to anyone but yourself, why should your own creations love you? I will rip them away from you, piece by piece. You will not love a mate. The first, obviously, is that she has to be biologically female. The second is that she must [i]have never been bred before now.[/i] That's it; anything else goes! She can be from your clan already, from the Auction House, have any breed / color / gene combination, be immediately RTB or not -- the sky is the limit. The one thing I recommend without a doubt is that she'd be a dragon you'd permanently keep, because you're going to have her in your hands for quite some time. If you find that you're tiring of your matriarch's look, feel free to scatterscroll her, breed change her, or alter her genes as much as you'd like. The only thing you cannot do is replace her with any other dragoness after the challenge begins. [b]2.[/b] Select the first mate for your matriarch. You may retrieve him over the Auction House, borrow a stud, or pick a permanent resident of your clan -- literally the only requirement for him is that he's biologically male and thus can produce offspring with her. Note how this step says "first" mate. This is because [u]your matriarch cannot breed with the same dragon twice across the duration of this challenge.[/u] [b]3.[/b] Breed them once they're both RTB and you have sufficient space! Make a note of how many children they've had and keep it. Maintaining count is key. I'd also recommend making a note of who the mate was, so that you never accidentally "double-dip." [b]4.[/b] When the hatchlings are born, you cannot just immediately exalt them or sell them over the Auction House. On the contrary, [u]you must ensure every hatchling gets a long-term home.[/u] This could be anything from becoming someone else's permanent dragon to being bred at least once in someone else's lair. Either way, they need to be kept by someone for a while before being exalted or exalt-trained, if ever. If you want, you may keep any hatchlings you get as long-term residents of your own clan. If you end up selling someone a hatchling and they change their mind and either resell or exalt it, then you are not held accountable for it; after all, the matter at that point would have been out of your hands. However, it might be wise to not sell that person another hatchling for the duration of the challenge. [b]5.[/b] Repeat the process from finding a new mate to sending the hatchlings off to find long-term homes until all 100+ hatchlings have found a place they belong! [b]Hatchlings[/b] [u]Beauty[/u] - Narcissa's and Caelum's only hatchling. She was Caelum's pride and joy until she was asked to serve the Icewarden. Her mother named her for her good breeding and not being born a mirror, like her father. [u]Beau[/u] - The first born in Darius' and Narcissa's clutch. Not the handsomest of the two, but Narcissa adored his good looks anyway. She was devastated when he went off to serve the Icewarden, his father could have cared less. [u]Amora[/u] - Narcissa's favorite. She spoiled her and loved her, showering her with praise and telling her of her beauty. Unfortunately, in the middle of the night, she went missing. Narcissa has no idea what happen to her, but she was crushed. [u]Jamilla[/u] - Her firstborn with Kip, a fluttering ball of energy that just couldn't calm down. Kip adored and cherished his little girl and Narcissa admired her. She however was sent away to serve the Icewarden, as her mother knew if she didn't send her child away, she would be taken from her. [u]Adonis[/u] - The handsomest out of Kip and Narcissa's clutch. He was the middle born and fiercely protective of his mother. He was ripped away from her soon after he turned off age. It torn at his mother's heart. She's not sure where he is, she still cries over her lost children. [u]Tayten[/u] - After seeing what happened with his brother and sister, Tayten left without a word. He figured he would be doing his mother a favor, but only ceased to tear at her heart even more. [u]Lynne[/u] - Quiet and a bit off, this was the first born of Leafclaw and Narcissa's clutch. Her daughter seemed distant, mystified. Leafclaw sobbed when his baby girl disappeared in the middle of the night, but Narcissa just wondered. [u]Elilan[/u] - Narcissa was starstruck by her only boy in her clutch with Leafclaw and so was Leafclaw! Constantly smiling and laughing, he was a joy to their small family. When he came of age, Narcissa explained what must be done. With a heavy heart, he went to the Icewarden. [u]Mei[/u] - Dazzled by her beautiful eyes, the narcissist side of Narcissa still lingered. This beauty was quiet and dainty, the smallest of the hatchlings! But she was polite and mindful. She listened to stories from Morrigan and Dovetail about lands far away. Once she was old enough, she travelled to those lands, bidding her parents farewell forever.
