Clan of the Radiant Star is a large clan of dragons that originally started off in the Starfall Isles, slowly made its way up to doing experiments at the Observatory with the Arcanist, and eventually moved over to claim a large stretch of territory in the Sunbeam Ruins. After all, with a large enough group of arcane-wielding dragons, experiments can be done anywhere, and light-flight territory is known for having a lot of dragons focused on sharing and discovering non-magical research, too.

Interestingly enough, the clan had no name until it chose to move territories. A name was decided upon that unified both Arcane and Light elements, and was spread so that dragons could know where to find the relocated clan should they seek it out.

The clan itself is highly varied in the types of dragons it's attracted. Some (although admittedly not many) are still with the clan from its arcane days, while others have traveled to the Sunbeam Ruins to either join in research or scholarly pursuits, or just because the territory was convenient for them to settle in.

- - -

Some time later the clan now resides on a floating island said to move above the Windswept Plateau. The reasons for the move in territories is unknown, but it is said the freedom of the wind allows for a different type of magic casting. The researchers of the clan haven't stopped, and everyone else has spacious - if a bit secluded - land on which to live.

Stars in general feature heavily in clan lore and importance (given that the clan has arcane origins). The banners are usually imbued with magic, and the rich golden tapestries are lustrous with an inner glow. Radiant Star is currently situated in the Windswept Plateau - or, more specifically, located above on its own flying island. Typically the island floats within the Twisting Crescendo, making its whereabouts at any given point unknown. The island houses anywhere near one hundred "permanent" dragons and dozens growing hatchlings at any point, and any merchants or visitors who come upon it are welcomed with open arms.

The island itself seems dragon-built, and is an amalgam of all of the clan's disparate goals. That said, the island is more wilderness than settlement.

A docking area allows both individual dragons and any who arrive in airships or other vehicles to safely land and be sheltered from the general storm. A highly decorated official building allows for emissary meetings to take place, and the Brass Sprocket is a favored inn for travelers to relax in. Slightly further out is the clan's marketplace, with both open-air stalls and individual shops for those dragons interested in trading. Of note is the fact that, although the island has its own giant lake and other water sources, the clan's voracious fish eaters often find themselves in need of more fish, which recurring traders take advantage of. (Although, of course, nets to catch the schools of flying fish in the Crescendo are employed when wind conditions permit.)

Another favorite of both visiting dragons and clan dragons alike are the large botanical grounds. Beautiful walkways, crystalline pools, and exotic wildlife are just some of the things that visitors can experience.

Beyond the public-facing area and the gardens are homes for the dragons who choose to live in such comfort, as well as a well-maintained library of scholarly knowledge and research facilities insulated against the outside world - for those dragons around still inclined to research. Beyond these buildings is the giant lake, and beyond the lake is wilderness and mountains. Some dragons make their home here and rarely take place in the more social clan activities.

Despite being located in the Crescendo, the island itself remains fairly calm, although when winds truly pick up, the effects can be felt by all and dragons will often keep to themselves indoors. Dragons with specific knowledge in protection runes will notice their glimmer in the air, and if one were to land on the jutting underside of the island, they would notice even more magic energy, presumably keeping the island afloat.

» FACTION: THE HIGH COURT «
__________________
Given Radiant Star's sprawling territory and diverse inhabitants, the clan actually runs somewhat differently than many other clans that have a strict hierarchy. While there are a few dragons who others look to for leadership, there are no clear founders - just leaders of various factions who typically pursue their own interests.

Many visitors to the clan, however, do expect a more traditional hierarchical structure - and often ask to see the leader(s) of the clan. A group of dragons, now known as the High Court, seized upon this opportunity to present themselves as the ambassadors and leaders of the clan. Apparently "fake it 'til you make it" works in politics, too, because the clan now has a group of "nobles" that do nothing all day but play political games and host clan guests.

A group of nobles needs a suitable living space, and the High Court resides in a majestic old castle. Everything one would expect to see when encountering vast wealth can be found here - the clan banners glowing with alluring warmth, precious jewels adorning imposing statues... Certainly, guests can expect to be put up in incredible rooms and shown amazing hospitality.

The dragons in the High Court do have a reputation for being self-serving and somewhat conniving, but they rarely ever bother with such boring gossip. That said, some of the clan's factions do have power over the High Court and occasional internal clashes happen. Take for example the Heavensent, who typically boast incredible combat prowess and are more than capable of intimidating the High Court into doing what they say. For the most part, though, they are too busy furthering their own goals to worry about a bunch of lazy do-nothings holding parties in castles.

» FACTION: THE HEAVENSENT «
__________________
One of Radiant Star's most prominent factions is the Heavensent. The Heavensent consists of dragons who have devoted their lives to eradicating the Shade in all its forms - wherever and however it may appear.

Most of the Heavensent is highly proficient in combat, whether that be physical skill or magical. Many of its members spend their time flying across Sornieth, rooting out evil as they go. That said, there are a few "support" members who do not fight, but spend time on clan grounds researching or providing morale for the rest. Research is important, as the Heavensent often bring back artifacts of magical nature that they find (or have reclaimed) on their travels. Of course, on occasion, these artifacts end up in the hands of some of the more opportunistic dragons in the rest of the clan.

Each of the Heavensent looks radiant - most of their scales glow with a heavenly light. It is unclear whether they were always like this or whether centuries spent fighting Shade has somehow transformed them - transcended them, as it were. This gives them a mythical status even within their own clan, and they mostly keep to themselves - their base being a very tall tower found on clan grounds.

» FACTION: THE ARCANE MAGI «
__________________
The Arcane Magi isn't really a unified faction so much as a moniker used to describe some of the clan's more magically-inclined dragons (especially those who work with arcane energies). The Arcane Magi need be neither arcaneborn nor actual full-blown mages as such. Dragons that fall into this category, though, are either highly proficient in magic or focus on all sorts of experiments, harkening back to Radiant Star's stint at the Observatory. Their interest in furthering magical knowledge is really what ties these dragons together.

Much like almost anything else arcane, though, those who deal with arcane energies are rarely as they seem on the surface. If any dragons harbor interesting eldritch secrets, it would be the Arcane Magi.

Perhaps the two most well-known dragons in this faction (and around the clan in general) are Arcanus and Seda. Although neither is arcaneborn, both look like they were created to fit perfectly in the Starfall Isles. They are incredibly strong warriors and are the ones who usually take on risky missions and battles and bring back various war trophies for the clan.
