What used to take several few lightyears now takes hundreds of them to reach the desired destination. As planets fall to the actions of their inhabitants, a scarce few have discovered a solution. Constant space roadtrip. Massive space-faring ships that house thousands now fly through the infinite reaches of the void, mobile planets carrying passengers on an infinite trip to an unknown and impercievable destination. Trees and flowers, vines and waterfalls deck the parks inside the ship's bulk. Quaint shops line the smooth, white streets and fountains are scattered in the main squares, where laughter and music echoes. One could never tell that this is a massive spaceship, unless they looked up at the clear reinforced glass roof, high above the fabricated streets, where stars and galaxies sparkle and flicker as the ship passes by. It's bright as day but outside lies constant darkness and the cold, cold grasp of oxygen devoid space. The crew don't dwell on that. They keep the ship running perfectly. Robots perform maintenance checks and repair tasks both inside and outside the ship's interior, police walk the streets to keep order and justice, and the president handles the finance on board. Inhabiting this ship are many different kinds of people, the meek and the murderous, the silent and the snobby. It is a perfect replica of the planets from which these people came, with all its flaws and imperfections, and all the joyful, blissful things people experience once in a life time. It is the same creature as you, as in, its fabricated skin and fancy clothes make it appear as a middle aged male human being, dressed for a rather fancy occasion. "[b]Welcome, passenger #4376, aboard the colony ship Desdeus, the last destination for eternity. We hope you can find yourself at home aboard this five-star cruiser, where luxury is our first and highest priority.[/b]" It walks beside you, through the hallway flashing with neon lights. As the first window passes by you see a massive, impossibly big metal body, tiny windows scaling its gargantuan side, resting on the take off struts. More hallways like your own are leading into its side. The space cruiser Desdeus' small neon lights glow like a bioluminescent creature in the deep of the night, the most revolutionary and expensive way to live in existence. The robot follows you through a doorway as it slides open and reveals the grandest sight you've ever seen. A white city of metal, a street lined with cherry blossom trees whose petals fall gently to the ground, amidst the busy chatter of people and the sound of a waterfall in the distance. This, is going to be one hell of a ride.[/size] [center]

Its existence is only known due to the constant agonizingly slow separation of star clusters seen above, previously seen closer together. Oracles and psychics and astronomers have found employment aboard the space cruiser, to create prophecies, predict the futures of the passengers and to interpret the signs of the reported sounds echoing from the piping and through the walls. Some alien in kind, some familiar to humans, being mixed together can cause unwarranted side effects. On one particular occasion, kerosene and an alien form of fuel was mixed together by accident during the fueling process. The mixture caused strange puddles of sentient slick to swarm out of the fuel tank and wander around the restricted areas of the ship. Galaxies, like blotches of paint dropped onto the black paper, like crystals reflecting light in the darkest of caves, appear in the void as rare and pure glimpses of the beauty that this cold space can create. But for people alone to carry it out, it would be impossible with the sheer size of the gargantuan vessel. So the major robotics corporation on Desdeus has created its own form of repairman, the repair droid. Sturdy, steadfast and solely dedicated to their jobs fixing the ship, these droids are rarely seen in public areas, performing maintenance under the city decks and outside the ship's hull. And the reason why is obvious. On a dull grey space cruiser with a pure white interior, any colour outside the flashing neon billboards, is welcome, especially when the colours are so soft and calming. The petals of the cherry blossom trees fall like snow across the paths lined with small neon lights as the fabricated wind blows through. Their pretty pink petals add a splash of life to the ship. Wind chimes have been attached to most of the trees, light tinkling noises sound at the shopfronts and around the tables at cafes and restaurants, creating a calming and relaxing sound amongst the chattering voices. The pilot died many years ago. The ship Desdeus is simply a body for the new pilot to control at its own will. Be glad that the beast treasures the beings that reside in its stomach. They line the streets, lie strung through the branches of the sakura trees like fairy lights, light up billboards with flashy advertisements, even the holograms are bright neon blue. But every year the inhabitants come together to celebrate the day that the ship Desdeus was created, in a day called the Neon Festival. The lights on board are dimmed, people walk around wearing clothes illuminated by the blues and pinks of the president's banner, it is a night of parties and laughter. Everyone looks forward to the Neon Festival, the greatest time of all, a celebration of the city around them and the safety that they've been granted in space.
