It is a symbol commonly associated with the country both overseas and by New Zealanders themselves. This fern is known to grow to heights of 10m or more (though it occasionally takes a rare creeping form). The crown is dense, and the fronds tend to be about 4 m long and have a silver-white colouration on the undersides. This distinctive silver colouration has made them useful for night walking, - when bent over, (or laid upside down on the forest floor,) the undersides can illuminate one's path through the forest. The Silver Fern is one of New Zealand's most recognised, long-standing, and respected national symbols, It can be found in a wide range of areas, - from the coat of arms of New Zealand, to NZ army and sports team uniforms and on the NZ$1 coin. A silver fern flag is usually a white silver fern on a black background (or vice versa,) and they are often used as an unofficial national flag. It is an image to which all New Zealanders can relate and can be a powerful and emotional symbol of inspiration in times of need. First PC hatchlings - pity about the crackle, though. I'm going to have to save and invest in a few scrolls for that pair, before they'll be nesting again. The SD pair that hatched a few days ago are back on the nest again - with one egg! so fingers crossed that it turns out well. The only breeds I don't have are Bogs and Snaps, but if there's interest enough I'll try to get a pair together,

@DragonFlute they... actually don't look toooo bad grown up - sort of like moss on white stone, - they just arent what I'm aiming for. xD

Yup they are, though lord knows I don't have space for many more hatchlings atm. I need these ones to fly away first.

SD hatchling was another Legacy Fern, so now the noc/imp pair are on nest again, as are my fae/guardian pair. SD/PC pair will be next up once these ones hatch. I was planning on changing that SD to a spiral and getting a thyla scroll for the PC before breeding them again, but I cant coli or use fairgrounds for the foreseeable future, so that's gone out the window. (Stupid crawlingly slow internet!)
