The Shimmering Springs:
The Shimmering Springs are home to a robust court of faeries and pixies. They can be somewhat mischievous, playing tricks on the area's dragons and stealing trinkets if they are offended. One good thing has come about due to the overabundance of fae in the area, however, and it’s how the area got its name! They have spread so much faerie and pixie dust over the years, that nearly everything has begun to shimmer - catching the light beautifully.
The addition of magical dust to the area’s water source, now deemed The Shimmering Springs, has caused the local creatures (dragons included) to have genetic mutations causing their skin, scales, or fur to shimmer in the sunlight! This effect is minimal due to how fine the dust is, but it gives them added beauty regardless. Dragons from the area are incredibly proud of their shimmering hide, and often seek partners with equally beautiful appearances to be mates.
The Nexus Coven:
The Nexus Coven is a mystical land full of sparkling crystals and never-dying flowers. Some attribute the eternal life of these flowers to the mystic aura that the Nexus and its crystals emit, while some believe it is due to the actions of individual dragons that live there. Regardless, the grounds are covered in plush, green grass and there are many beautiful flowers along the frequently traveled paths. The Nexus crystals shimmer a vibrant shade of purple and are intermingled with the flowers. The Nexus Coven is centralized around a clearing in the woods (much akin to a meadow) that surrounds a body of water that is surrounded by the crystals. Some say that this water can have healing properties, but nobody really knows for sure.
Dragons that come from the Nexus Coven are particularly gifted in the mystical arts. The area is named after not only the mystical nature of the land, but also the dragons that began inhabiting it who called themselves The Coven. These dragons settled in this land ages ago after searching far and wide for a natural habitat that was in sync with their natural abilities. They felt incredibly fortunate to have stumbled upon the Nexus. Now, any creature that proves worthy of wielding the land's mystical properties is welcome to make the Nexus Coven their home. Being from the Nexus Coven means that you are likely to have a greater affinity for magic. These dragons are often the greatest spell-weavers, but sometimes it takes a little while for their powers to manifest.
Oracle Keep:
Oracle Keep originally got its name in a rather dark way. Long ago a rather malevolent clan inhabited the area and held an Oracle captive for many years. During this time they used the Oracle to predict the outcomes of wars and grow their strength and numbers.
One day, the Oracle gave them news that they were soon to be defeated and their numbers would be decimated in an upcoming siege. The Clan leaders did not heed her warning, and instead assumed she was lying. She did not say who was to attack them, and they did not ask. The day finally came that they were to be assaulted and the clan went about its daily duties as usual. Upon nightfall, blazing meteors rained from the sky destroying the entire citadel, save for the Tower of the Oracle and a few members of the clan that managed to escape.
Nobody knows what happened to the Oracle, but it is said that she transcended and became one with the Gods. News travels quick and outcasts and survivors of the malevolent clan's attacks made their way to the broken citadel. Since then, a new clan has been forged in Oracle Keep and they have rebuilt it to be a flourishing and welcoming city for all. They pay reverence to the Oracle, as if she is the areas ultimate protector, with a celebration each month.
Hatchlings from Oracle Keep are always born with a Runic Gift and travel across the land to protect the innocent or spread knowledge using their special abilities.
Firegrove Fortress:
The inhabitants of Firegrove Fortress are some of Sornieth’s best metalsmiths. The fortress sits along the side of a magma flow from an active volcano. During peak eruption season, the clan makes use of the constantly molten rock to heat metals mined during the off-season to forge incredible armor and illustrious weapons. The veteran smiths work tirelessly while apprentices keep watch for blasts between lessons on the ways of metal.
Denizens of the Fortress have developed an unmatched resistance to heat and fire due to the harsh temperatures of their home. Eggs are nested in the heart of the volcano during the off-season to help the hatchlings develop their igneous-covered hide. Some hatchlings are even born with molten patches and thus need to be wary of coming into contact with dry brush and foliage, lest they begin a forest fire.

Isle Arcana:
Suspended in the air over Starwood Strand, near Focal Point, is a small island. Nobody knows how exactly it is suspended, but it is suspected that the innate magical energy of the land keeps it afloat. The inhabitants of Isle Arcana are incredibly gifted in the mystical arts as well, and each takes on a specialty. The Arcane dragons of this land tend to favor aura or chi manipulation and divination. However, if a dragon happens to be born with precognition, they are immediately taken to the School of the Elders. There, they’ll learn the ways of leadership and tradition in order to take a role within the Council of Elders, the protectors of Isle Arcana.
Mudwood Manor:
Mudwood Manor was built from the towering trees and rich earth that surrounds it causing it to blend nearly seamlessly into the verdant landscape. The dragons of Mudwood Manor, distinguished by their brown-toned scales adorned with patterns like the region's birds-of-prey, are often known for their exceptional musical talents. The estate's halls and gardens are perpetually filled with vibrant melodies, as the dragons harmonize with the songs of the forest. The serene environment of Mudwood Manor, with its harmonious blend of nature and music, nurtures these gifted dragons, making it a haven for those who cherish both the beauty of the wild and the art of song. The Manor's younger dragons that yearn for adventure often set out to explore and share their gifts with anyone who will listen.

Mistral Breezeway:
You’ve almost arrived - you can hear whistling and humming growing louder. The mountain is up ahead - it’s not the largest you’ve ever seen but it still has many peaks. Upon turning a bend, you see a town, full of bright colors and bustling denizens. The town seems to sit along the sides of two separate sections of the mountain, with a large breezeway connecting the two peaks. It’s obvious how the town got its name.
Twice a year the town of Mistral Breezeway holds an enormous music and dance festival to welcome guests from all across the land to experience the festivities and jubilee of the Wind Domain. The town gets decorated, the dragons all dance and sing endlessly, and everyone has a great time. At the end of the festival the town’s natives send off their guests with one final performance. They line up along the large central breezeway and jump off the edge folding their wings to glide at just the right time, in a way to make just the right notes with the wind. This beautiful song has been passed down from generation to generation; learning a part in it is considered an honorable right-of-passage within the community.
Felkeep Fortress:
At the tip of a peninsula on the edge of Sornieth, rests a portal to an unknown land from which no dragon has ever returned. There, the land is poisoned and black - turning away even the most savage beastclans. Felkeep Fortress stands as a bastion protecting the realm; its inhabitants are charged with keeping the evil of the portal contained. Unfortunately, over time members of the garrison have suffered ill-effects from proximity to the energies of this other world. Outsiders believe the portal is a manifestation of the shade, but those from Felkeep know it is something much, much worse.
Nightgrove:
Throughout a dense and dark forest in the Shrieking Wilds, glittering lights can be seen flickering through the trees in all directions. Once per rotation of the moon, a group of dragons weave the elements of nature, lightning, and wind together to create powerful protection spells to indoctrinate their young into the Druids of Nightgrove. On this night, the magic imbues the land with a subtle glow. Throughout the following weeks those delicate flickering lights slowly fade as the aftereffects of the spells wane.
Young dragons often emerge from the forest wide-eyed and bewildered, but with a strong desire to seek those who need protection. Most never manage to find their way back to the grove, but the imagery of the forest never fades from their mind.
The few dragons who return to Nightgrove have no recollection of how they get there. They simply awake in the forest with a driving need to perform the ritual.
Tanglewood Glade:
Tanglewood Glade is the origin of some of Sornieth’s most Druidic dragons, it is said. The landscape lends itself to those who can fit in, as the trees and plants are said to be animated. What an ordinary, or unappreciative dragon or creature may see as an ever-changing and entrapping forest, those who are one with nature see a welcoming and peaceful environment. The trees are said to actually be Ents (otherwise known as Treants or Treefolk) and the tangling vines are supposedly snakes. Tanglewood Glade received its name from travelers who would find themselves unable to sense direction in the forest. Only those who are respectful of nature may see the forest in its truest form.
Those who the forest deems worthy may see friendly Ents moving about and joining the trees in shading other inhabitants from the sun or sheltering them from rain They may also see the snakes dancing among the trees and singing with the wind. The forest’s creatures are incredibly kind and live in harmony - except when threatened. Those whom the Guardians of the Forest deem worthy enough can make it to the Glade in the center of the forest. What is there is a secret - but many believe it is the home of the Guardians (who are believed to be direct descendants of the Gladekeeper herself) and that one can learn powerful nature magic if they are worthy enough.

Elderrock Forest:
Elderrock Forest is similar to your average forest. There are plants and animals...but there is also a really, really large rock. Some say the rock has been there since the Second Age - that it has survived the test of time. One thing is certain - it has been there longer than any of the inhabitants of Elderrock Forest can remember. Elderrock, as it has been lovingly named, is large and black, almost like an enormous chunk of hematite - and perhaps it is!
Many of the areas dragons have developed exceptional sense of smell and hearing in order to distinguish friend from foe in the dense forest, but much of the time the wildlife and dragonkind live harmoniously. The beastclans and dragons have a sort of unspoken truce in this forest. Some attribute it to emanating energy from the rock, but nobody could know for sure.
Maplereach Meadow:
Maplereach Meadow seems as normal as any other place...except at night. The creatures here are brightly and pleasantly colored and if they weren’t vastly larger than the flowers of the meadow - they’d blend right in! Nobody knows why, but nearly all of the dragons of the area are pastel colored in nature. Some attribute it to the area having a sort of pull on the dragons that originally inhabited the area. One thing is certain - whatever magic the area wields rubs off on the dragons that live there.
As the sun sets and daylight fades - you can almost see the magic at work. Everything seems to glow - the dragon’s hides glow, the flower petals glow, even the water seems to glow! The areas creatures can be seen practicing their magic, for it is most powerful during this time. Many of the dragons take this time to learn new skills since they can be learned more easily. Many of the dragons specialize in protective magic, and this is thought to be an evolutionary skill due to their inability to hide at night.
Nobody knows for certain why these dragons glow, but some believe it to begin after consuming the flowers and wildlife of the area for a long enough period of time. There are stories of dragons developing a glow after moving to Maplereach Meadows, but most were simply born of parents from the area.
