In the predawn dark, when the sky was at its deepest blue, most of the inhabitants of the Starfall Isles were asleep. Of those few who were awake, the majority gazed to the stars, curiosity calling them. But one family's eyes were not to the sky, and instead were focused on a single egg upon the ground. The infant within hadn't stirred, hadn't come out of her shell as the others had under the protective embrace of the starry night. Her parents fretted and worried. The sky began to brighten slowly, but surely, a deep mulberry color overtaking the sky. Finally, as the great star that lit their days emerged over the horizon, and the first rays touched the small egg within the nest, she emerged. She was small, and fragile, but colored like the great day star itself. She was named Solraya, in honor of the great star itself, that the Arcanist might grant her the blessings needed to allow her to grow into a strong, healthy, and happy dragon. In time, her small frame would catch up to her siblings, and she would prove capable and strong. She was the sun, freshly risen over the mountains, bringing warmth to all those around her.[/columns]

[columns]As Solraya grew into a young dragon, her parents noted a certain sense of bravado in their daughter. Where her siblings were content as scholars of the stars, Solraya instead felt a draw to exploration, to go out and see the world. And so, as soon as she was able, she set out on her own. It did not take long for her to realize if she was going to survive on her own, she would need to train to handle the wilds. And so, she found herself three mentors. Sahuith, Alisifith, and Quevorith, three dragons that themselves looked suited to Starfall Isle's pink fields, yet were not all of Arcane origin.
Alisifith, the Spiral, was born and raised in the arcane fields, but had traveled widely, stating that a Scholar's Duty is not strictly to the books. She had seen all the skies Sornieth had to offer, dancing with her Windsisters across the bay and beyond. Quevorith was a flamboyant Wildclaw, born of Light. He shared his love of the day with Solraya, and helped shape her confidence, and her joy. Finally, Sahuith was a quiet, shadowy figure, a Nocturne who preferred to act over think. Still, Sahuith was brimming with a quiet, secretive wisdom that taught the day-loving Solraya to appreciate the night as the daughter of Arcane ought to.[nextcol][center][b][color=orange]LEAVING HOME[/color][/b]

By day, they would travel and encounter strange enemies, and by night they would gather around a fire and sing, dance, and talk story. Quevorith would wax poetical about the science of their day before bursting into theatrical song. Sahuith would quietly run gambling gammes and occasionally remark on the peacefulness of their evenings together. Alisifith would stargaze, and smile when Quevorith tried to teach her something new about the stars, as if she did not already know.
But, as joyous as her time with her mentors and friends were, Solraya truly was like the sun. She had worked hard, and while she was not yet as strong as the trio who had taken her in so kindly, she was ready to head off into the sunset on her own. So, one morning, after another night of quiet joy, she announced her intent to depart. She would never forget them, she promised, but it was time for her to move on.
That day, as they came to a fork in the road, Sahuith stopped her while Alisifith and Quevorith bickered over which route to take. The Nocturne waited silently with her, and the shadowy dragon's message was made clear. Now was the time to find her place in the world, just as Sahuith had found his place with Alisifith and Quevorith. It was time to find where she belonged, and to learn the peace of closing one's eyes in the darkness, and knowing she was home.[/columns]
