REDWOOD WARDEN Second Generation Pale Plated Variant Sometimes, at the end of their lives, the great Redwoods of the Sunbeam Ruins do something extraordinary. With what remains of their life energy, the trees form eggs to be kept safe and warm within the root structure. As the tree dies, the egg is pushed up between the roots to ‘sprout’ from the soil into a Redwood Warden. These dragons tend to the Redwoods, making sure they thrive. Their innate horticultural knowledge serves them well, but if they come across a tree that cannot be saved using natural means, they are able to revive it with their own specialized magic. This ability undoubtedly stems from their origins. The Wardens do not lay any claim to the forests of the Sunbeam Ruins and seek only to maintain them. More often than not the Wardens choose to roam far and wide through the forests instead of settling in one location. They have an excellent sense of direction, and if you ever find yourself lost in the woods, a Warden can help you find your way. They possess bark-like growths across their bodies, mimicking the texture of the trees they love and protect. Pale Plated Variant - Playful and lighthearted. Pale Wardens are very talkative and can be easily distracted. The bark on Plated Wardens is fairly thin and scaly, often layered in places. Lawful Good. loves reading and can be found with her nose in a book as often as she's seen organizing them. get her started and she can ramble on about a topic for hours. sketches in her free time, carries a sketchbook with her wherever she goes so she can capture inspiration. will always encourage others to chase creative pursuits.

lives in Byzmara's Forest District and helps maintain its trees. works in the city's main library; checks in/out resources, keeps track of records, makes sure everything's organized, and assists Ligaia in her archivist work where necessary.

her toad friend is named Bean, and her rattlesnake is Soba. when not chilling on Milano or her desk, they hang out in designated, magically-protected hideaways around the library to watch patrons, and if they catch someone doing something they shouldn't, Bean will give his ferocious war-cry and Soba will rattle her tail. as the library is typically a quiet place and Milano has sharp hearing, they work as effective alarms without unduly disturbing other patrons.

the Spirit of Earth that often accompanies her is called Oryx. he'll occasionally wander around the library to see what everyone's up to (and bring tissues and provide something to hug if someone's gotten to That Part of a novel), but for the most part he hangs out behind Milano's desk and awaits pets. as he likes being petted and Milano likes doing the petting, this works out for both of them.

Inverse - fascinated by his house and enjoys sketching it when she has the chance. Inverse noticed after a few instances of this and tweaked part of the house one day, being greatly amused when she sat down to sketch and kept looking back and forth between the house and her paper in confusion. it's since become a game between them to see how fast she can spot what he's changed each time she visits.

Cerys - partner in crime when it comes to sassing Nonpareil and being annoyed at whatever dumb thing he's said this time. will often loan her library materials when it comes to researching potions and the like. respects her skill and dedication to her craft.

Nonpareil - disapproves of his flirting and will bluntly tell him to "cut that crap out, you idiot, it's not working." slapped him in the face when he tried it badly on her shortly after meeting. these days, they somewhat tend to argue and snark at each other the way certain best friends do, which results in some teasing from the rest of the gang. he leaves cookies at her desk every so often though, and she 100% appreciates that from him. respects his pun mastery. loves using her knowledge to prove him wrong whenever he's said something stupid.

Mei Lin - BEST GIRL FRIEND. loves visiting her at her home in one of Light's redwood forests and will take nearly any opportunity to do so. will chatter with her for days.














Neutral Good. friendly, helpful, bit of a chatterbox, loves kids, really likes food. resides in the Sunbeam Ruins (one of the woodsy areas not directly mentioned on the map). archer, adventurer, works for some sort of guild where she can pick up jobs, fights bandits, rescues people in trouble sometimes getting herself into trouble in the process, etc.

Inverse - was a bit intimidated by him at first, but has warmed up to him considerably. she thinks his powers are cool and that his house is awesome. when allowed, she enjoys flying around inside, as the random staircases and areas with altered gravity provide an interesting challenge. (Legato and Nonpareil have a running bet on how long it'll be before she finally crashes into something.) she also enjoys using his house as a test of her skill with a bow - someone will place a target, and she'll have to figure out how to get an arrow to it through the warped gravity zones.

Cerys - admires her skill. often picks up certain plants and other materials for her when out on a job, as Cerys herself doesn't often leave the Labyrinth and wouldn't have access to different types of potions otherwise. she loves learning about Cerys's recipes when she can, and frequently asks questions about what different plants are used for and how they affect a brew. Cerys also teaches her about what plants are good to eat in general and swaps normal food recipes.

Legato - thinks he's nice, but other than that, ???

Milano - BEST GIRL FRIENDS. loves stopping by the library to talk to her, as well as inviting her to her home for a while. has done a couple adventuring/guild-y jobs for the library involving finding/retrieving texts.

Nonpareil - LOVES HIS FOOD and also his puns. knew full well what he was implying when trying to flirt, but she enjoyed messing with him by playing innocent. finds him a bit more tolerable now that he's not attempting it with her anymore.
