Clan Entelecheia
Two subclans: the Scholars and the Dryads
Clan Entelecheia is a clan divided. One half of the clan lives in the Sunbeam Ruins, the other in the Viridian Labyrinth. The Sunbeam Ruins subclan is known as the Scholars, the Viridian Labyrinth subclan as the Dryads.
The two subclans are united under one leader, Saiph, who tries to hold everything together. However, they are so culturally distinct that frequent skirmishes emerge between the two groups. The Scholars emphasize knowledge and self-realization, while the Dryads favor magic and naturalism. Now, the Dryads are threatening to separate. The only force left holding them together is Saiph, whom both groups admire and respect.
But how did it get like this?
Clan Entelecheia was originally Clan Draken, an Earth clan who resided in Dragonhome. They were an ancient and peaceful group of dragons, but they faced many trials and eventually ceased to exist. The only record of their existence was kept by a Light Sprite named Saturn, who had once lived amongst Clan Draken and bonded with its dragons. Saturn kept these records in an abandoned library in the Sunbeam Ruins.
It was over a year since the records had been stored in the library when Saiph stumbled across Saturn's scrolls. She was so deeply moved by the stories of Clan Draken that she decided to found a clan in its honor. She kept a tradition of the old clan: all dragons were named after stars.
Initially, the new clan- Clan Entelecheia- consisted only of Scholars. However, a dragon named Arrakis who resided in the Viridian Labyrinth asked if he may join the clan while persisting to live in the Nature territory. He proposed that he would collect research in the Viridian Labyrinth which could then be used by the Scholars. Saiph hesitantly accepted him into their ranks.
Quickly, Arrakis gained a following of admirers in the Viridian Labyrinth. He had clearly become the leader of a group of dragons. When Saiph prodded him, Arrakis explained that he was still loyal to her and to the Clan- and would convince his followers to also pledge their loyalty.
And so they did. But a pledge is different than true loyalty, and the Viridian Labyrinth group- which quickly came to be known as the Dryads- payed little regard to their new Clan. Though they quickly came to know and love Saiph, their leader, they felt very separate from the Scholars. They began to express their dissatisfaction with the Clan, and with Arrakis for what they felt to be a forced decision.
This uncomfortable relationship between the Scholars and the Dryads persists today, with the Dryads angry at Arrakis yet admiring of Saiph. As for how the group will fare, only time will tell...
