Dusk and Dawn stood at their balcony overlooking the little village below them. Dragons, big and small, inhabited the beautiful green forest Dusk and Dawn now call home. The sight of all of these dragons brought a mile wide smile to Dusk’s face. This wasn’t an ordinary clan, per se, its origins started as a refuge for its leaders, Dusk and Dawn, who now keep it in order, along with Midnight, the clan’s deputy.
Just a few years ago, drought and famine filled the land, causing dragons, like Dusk, to leave their homes to find better chances for survival. The famine struck Dusk’s clan harshly, leaving the dragons starved and desperate. Without a goodbye, Dusk and her Familiar, Sea Thrift, left without looking back, despite the struggles that lied in front of them, whereas for Dawn left her home for adventure. Among her journey, Dawn met Midnight, and together they decided to travel together. Months went by, while the three embarked on their journey to find the perfect place to settle, until one day, Dawn and Midnight came across a beautiful, secluded, vibrant part of the forest. Light flooded in from above, and the shape all in all was one big, perfectly round circle.

That night, Dusk and Sea Thrift had also wandered into the little secluded part of the forest, it was almost like Dusk had been called there. Cautiously, but confidently, Dusk wandered deeper into the forest, finally making it where Dawn and Midnight had situated themselves. Dusk allowed a gasp from her lips as she took in the natural beauty of the wooded area around her.

“That was my reaction too,” Dawn said as she approached Dusk, who jumped after hearing her voice. “I’m Dawn, and this is my friend Midnight,” she said turning her head in the direction of her friend. Dusk looked at Dawn and smiled as she turned her head to her little friend. “This is Sea Thrift, and I am Dusk.” Dawn returned the smile and along she said, “you can stay here with us if you want, there seems to be everything here!”
Dusk looked around and she couldn’t complain, this was the most astonishing place she had ever seen. “I’d like that,” Dusk said, thus starting the Lunar Falls..

_ L ight filled the room Dusk, Dawn, Midnight, and Mabel were standing in. It was the kind of light that wasn’t too bright, but the kind that you would see in mid-morning during spring. Dusk looked at Dawn with her bold, yellow eyes, and walked outside. Outside there lay a perfect colony of dragons, dragons that were dear to Dusk’s heart. Dawn emerged from the house behind Dusk, soon followed by Midnight and Mabel. Dawn put a loving wing around Dusk and smiled at the crowd below. Soon, nostalgia took over Dusk, reminding her how this all started...

______ The rain came down so hard it felt like bullets to the back, Dusk thought as she recalled the first memory after leaving home. Not too long before she had left, food and water became scarce, quickly dwindling by the second. Without looking back, Dusk and her familiar Sea Thrift took off, despite the struggles that stood in front of them. Some days, the wind blew so harshly it knocked the two down to their feet, or the rain poured so hard it drenched them to the bone. Despite this, they kept going, and after two and a half months of venturing, the two came across a beautiful forest, full of majestically tall trees, lusciously green grass, and vibrant coloured flowers. From the thick trees, two dragons emerged, one calling herself Midnight, the other calling herself Dawn. “This is our home,” Dawn told Dusk, “But please stay, we have room for you.” Dusk looked at the mysterious dragon and grinned. “I am Dusk.”

Dusk shook her head and smiled at the group below. From time to time she wonders about what she did to deserve them, but deep down, she is truly blessed to have them.
