Diffused Dither is fantastic imo but I feel like it probably shouldn't make this Ice obbie's eyes purple lol
Thank you for the report @DeathbyPixelz
What you're seeing here is the inherent limitations of a dither style.
Dithering is recreating an image with an intentionally restricted color pallet by visually mixing pixels to produce various in-between shades.
In this case, your dragon has been recreated using only 8 colors in the blue/purple range. The dither code tried its best to match the eye color with the pallet it had, so that's why the ice eyes came out purple.
If dither used (for example) 32 colors, the eyes would likely get their own shade. However the dither effect would look more boring since there would be less pixel blending.
I hope I explained that well enough :)

The following item has been added to the
Fixed Issues section of the first post.
Sixteen Bit effect renders low opacity pixels at full opacity. This makes some glowing style genes and apparel look odd. This effect will no longer sample low opacity pixels. Older forum posts will take time to catch up.
The following issues have been added to the
Work in Progress section of the first post.
- Dither effect is not working on some hardware that supports other effects.
- boot_dragon(green) effect crops dragon silhouettes in unusual ways. See: hatchling bogsneak tongue.
- Sixteen Bit effect colors differ significantly from a dragon's actual colors.

thank you for squashing that bug! one small addendum - it appears a similar issue is happening for pastel pulse wrt the transparency/opacity of the glow effect, at least when tested on the same dragon as before; theres also something odd in the treatment of the firefly that's over the rump vs the glow behind the mane for dearly departed, but i have no copy of that one in my hoard to keep the live preview in the post.
This dragon is displaying an cosmetic effect.
What follows is the item description:
Like a pearlescent mist clinging to the morning... this item applies a soft pastel gradient that slowly rolls across just the body of one dragon. Like apparel, skins, and scenes, effects are purely cosmetic items that can be added and removed from dragons at any time.
Unnamed is displayed as a fallback image due to an error while loading Effect: Pastel Pulse effect.
This is a static effect.

Sorry 'bout the double post but I saw a post on Tumblr regarding Dithering.
That is very unusual. If you learn which dragon (or dragons) specifically caused this issue, it would be very helpful to know - along with any browser or hardware details.

That's my post!
I'm using firefox on a lenovo legion 5, and it's every dragon with this effect lol

I've tried chrome on desktop and my phone, as well as firefox nightly, this only seems to affect desktop firefox for whatever reason? I also tried clearing firefox's cache and it didn't seem to work.
I've always had issues with this pc and firefox displaying pixel art, they're always distorted, it's probably some setting I turned off trying to fix that T o T

Ah, okay. I was actually wondering if that's what it was but wasn't sure if it still considered intended. Sounds good ^ ^

Thank you for the phone info @rapono.
We want effects to be as compatible as possible, so we will look into it.
Am I correct to assume you don't have access to the equivalent of a developer console on any of your phone browsers?
If you're not familiar with it already, a developer console is a common browser feature that provides lots of helpful feedback regarding the web page you're viewing. It would be very useful to know if it's reporting any specific errors.

I think i know what you're talking about. No, unfortunately that doesn't appear to be an option for the mobile version, at least not that i could find.
Update: does appear to work on chrome on my windows 10 pc. only mobile is having issues.

diffused dither might be a software issue in some cases.
i tested it on an old windows 7 pc, with an outdated fork of firefox ESR: waterfox classic 2022.06 (64-bit)
every other effect seems to work as intended, except diffused dither. the console gives the following error:

i installed the latest version of firefox ESR directly from mozilla, and on that browser, on the exact same device, diffused dither does function.
i'm looking through both browsers' about:config to see if this is an issue of the old waterfox fork not being able to handle diffused dither on a basic level, or if there's a flag preventing it.

Thank you @

I have a copy of what I need, so you're free to delete the console readout portion of your post.
Based on the output you sent, your Web Console is probably on the "Inspector" tab, correct? Please locate the tab labeled "Console" (it's probably the next tab over), select that, and then reload the page for a new printout of logs.
Also, I can confirm that Quirks Mode should be fine.

The extra browser info is extremely helpful.
You're right that it
could be a setting, although we don't know for sure. You may want to check all the settings I mentioned in this post:
