Feels like only yesterday I was leaving you with this clan." Perdix stared at the large guardian before him. Ruckus grinned at the spiral— her and Kraken's reluctant guardian until he'd found a clan to take them into. Her tail curled further around the wire nest holding her two eggs. "It certainly has. Don't worry, I'm still a troublemaker." Kraken turned his head as the fathom hatchling tripped over his wings, tumbling through the sand with a gleeful laugh. "You still have Eos with you I see." Perdix growled, low and filled with suspicion still for Lakeisho's heir. Kraken hadn't been raised long with the Spire Council before its brutal fall, but he still held doubts over the impact it might've had. "The ever-hatchling is safer with me lookin' out for 'im." "He's got two playmates on the way." Kraken ignored Perdix's aloofness, used to it from their brief travels together when he was a hatchling himself. "...If you'd like to stay and see them. Maybe we'll tell them you're their gramps." "No thanks." Ironic, how these two ended up together. The son of the dangerous Spire Council's leader and heir to the company, and the daughter of the dragon who killed his older brother and his mother, amongst other high ranks, and caused the Spire Council's fall. Perdix hoped they were both different from their parents, and hoped their hatchlings a safe life too. "Will you tell them their lineage?" Perdix finally asked. "They should know. Things might be calm now, and out here far from the scene of the Council and Corps' downfalls, but they deserve to hear it from us rather than a stranger passing by or finding some old news about it." Ruckus spoke decidedly. "We hoped you could stay— or visit again sometime— to tell them the parts we weren't around to experience. Maybe when they're old enough we can take them to see the ruins." Kraken added. The bogsneak had always wanted to go back, the spiral recalled. Curious of what remained of his home and what had become of it since. Perdix didn't think it was a wise idea. He feared the younger dragon might learn of the experiments and continue in his father's wing-beats. He'd been nervous enough with Eos living with the two, as the cloned hatchling was living proof some of Lakeisho's experiments had been working. "I'm staying out of it... I do wish you two the best, but I will not be setting foot back there again." He turned his back to the pair, calling for Eos to join him. "We can't stay in one place. Not everyone in the Council died that night. They might still be after him." "Safe travels." Ruckus looked and sounded disappointed. "Farewell." Perdix nudged Eos for the edge of the camp. "...If we're ever in the area again, perhaps I'll stop by. Eos missed seeing ya."

Dragons can wear apparel. Waiting for a tailor makes it harder for me to be attached. Tailor is instead Architect, and can construct scenes! (the rest of the Tailor rules apply for coli/"marketplace" scenes)

As with my Emperorlocke rules:

1. Any guardian in the group (who does not have a charge/wasn't breed changed to a guardian) can rng to find their Charge every 5 levels or be given one through lore means.

2. Guardians with a charge may die if they lose their charge or lives saving them.
If a charge loses a life the guardian may lose the life point instead of the charge.
If the charge dies the guardian might lose a life out of grief. Flip a coin.
Heads= Nothing happens
Tails= Grief overtakes them, they lose 1 life.

It was a trade route, easy to find necessities while staying on the move. The spiral supposed it was a bit more like migrating through the Shifting Expanse than actual wandering. Faceted eyes narrowed as the pair approached the clan's camp. Smoke was rising in the air and he could smell it as the breeze shifted towards them. Getting closer, the destruction left a path leading into the camp. Perdix froze in the middle of it all, pulling Eos closer to avoid the ever-hatching from wandering off. "What happened?" Suspicion immediately had him worried this was something to do with Eos. Someone who'd escaped the Spire Council had seen them in the area and this clan had been attacked because of it. Cyan eyes fell on two familiar scaled hides as Perdix hurriedly ushered Eos to an exit. The spiral paused again, staring at what remained of Kraken and Ruckus. Their excitement from his last visit when they'd shown him their growing family was forever gone now. He wondered what became of the poor hatchlings and couldn't bring himself to check the nesting area the two had died defending. Eos slipped from his grip and darted for the bodies, tearfully nudging at them. "Wake up!" He pulled the fathom back, shushing him. "Whoever did this could still be here. We need to go." On cue, as if from some literature or show, the sound of rubble moving reached him. Perdix turned with a low growl, lightning dancing between his claws as he prepared to attack. A guardian stepped into sight— he was young, barely old enough to be on his own, and fear reflected in his eyes. This youngling wasn't the attacker, no, he was a victim to this... and a familiar one at that with those scale colors and patterns. "You're Ruckus and Kraken's hatchling, aren't you?" He eased up, letting the sparks die out. A nod and the guardian slowly came closer. "I'm Barak. We... we were attacked by bounty hunters. My parents..." "I'm sorry." That did it. He and Eos had to leave. They probably shouldn't even stick to this route anymore— perhaps they shouldn't even stay in this flight at all. "I knew them, briefly." "You're uncle Perdix, right?" Hope sparked in Barak's eyes. "They told us about you. My brother, can you help me find him?" "I can't do that. Eos needs protecting and going after bounty hunters will put him in danger." "Oh, no, no! Thorin wasn't taken by them. He said he was leaving to make his own home— back where our parents grew up. Said it was our birthright to rule over the territory. I... was too scared to go with him... I don't know the way either but he seemed to think he could figure it out." A low snarl. "I am not setting foot in whatever is left of the Spire Council's territory." "Please." The desperation in that one word tore at Perdix's heart, but it was Eos' pleading stare that finally broke the spiral's resolve. This was an awful idea. Nothing good could come from returning to those ruins. "...Fine. I'll take you there. After that I'm gone." [rule] Thorin stared at the remains of a once large building before him. It was a lab, among other things, but it looked more like a citadel. This had been where his parents were born— or at least his father. Still, the stories he'd heard growing up had spurred him to one day visit this place. "It's all mine now..." He was certain that this was where he belonged in life. Thorin would rebuild this place and make an empire of his own out of it. Barak didn't know what he was missing, but hey, now he didn't need to share. The guardian wandered the halls, sometimes back tracking when he'd hit a dead end filled with rubble. Now and then bones were scattered about the floor and he tried not to think about how they'd once belonged to other dragons. "Could do with a lot of cleaning." Thorin commented dryly to ease his nerves. Muscles tensed as he heard voices around the corner. A growl rumbled deep in his chest. Was someone else trying to make a living here? Not on his watch! He'd already seen his birth clan destroyed, he wasn't going to lose this place before he could even start on repairs. "Hey!" He stormed around the corner, glaring at not one but two intruders. "What do you think you're doing in my home?" The fathom let out a squeak of alarm and ducked behind her smaller companion. "Sorry! We thought—" "Varda!" The wildclaw hushed her companion before puffing up her chest in an attempt to appear fiercer. "No one owns this place. It's abandoned, the owner died... or something. We're allowed to explore." "The owner was my grandfather. This place belongs to me." He took another step forward, eyes narrowing. "Get out." "Whoa, whoa big guy, lighten up a bit." The smaller dragon kept talking. "I heard this place was haunted so I'm just looking around. That's what I do— explore haunted places. It's great entertainment, makes for some good stories I can sell." "I don't care." "Zuri, we should go." Varda spoke up again. Once more the bold wildclaw waved her friend off. "Nonesense, we can work something out, a deal perhaps? Let's see... this place is a real dump, I'd be bummed if this is what I woke up to everyday. How about this: you let me dig around a little, get some good evidence of the ghost rumors so I can make some quick treasure... and in return Varda and I will help make this place a little less depressing to earn our keep here?" "More like I'll be doing the cleaning." The fathom sighed. Thorin raised his head, watching the two carefully. It was an...interesting offer. Having help could certainly be useful right now. A grimace at the idea of either of these two actually being of help; he was doubtful of that. Clearly he could easily chase them off if they became annoyances though. "I have to act tough if I'm going to be in charge of this place." Thorin stood proudly and nodded. "I suppose that will suffice... for now. My name is Thorin, Emperor Thorin of the, uh, Valcorian Empire." "Oh, dude, nooo. I would not use the title of Emperor right now." Zuri shook her head with a snicker, ignoring the snarl that hissed out from between Thorin's teeth. "I mean, haven't you heard about that one in Light? Talk about not reading a room." Varda tugged the wildclaw back. "I don't think you're reading the room either Zuri..." Thorin debated a moment on what to do about this situation. The wildclaw held no respect for him but at least Varda was trying to reign her in. This didn't feel like it was going to go well. "Your friend is smart, Ghost-hunter. But if you must feel the need to request I change my title... Supreme Leader Thorin will suffice." Longer, wordier than he'd wanted, but it sounded better than the boring title of 'king' and his grandfather had been the Supreme Council Leader so... It made some sense to take the mantle up for himself in a way. Things would go fine... hopefully. He was going to need more than these two in order to build the Valcorian Empire he'd came up with.

My parents..."

"I'm sorry." That did it. He and Eos had to leave. They probably shouldn't even stick to this route anymore— perhaps they shouldn't even stay in this flight at all. "I knew them, briefly."

"You're uncle Perdix, right?" Hope sparked in Barak's eyes. "They told us about you. My brother, can you help me find him?"

"I can't do that. Eos needs protecting and going after bounty hunters will put him in danger."

"Oh, no, no! Thorin wasn't taken by them. He said he was leaving to make his own home— back where our parents grew up. Said it was our birthright to rule over the territory. I... was too scared to go with him... I don't know the way either but he seemed to think he could figure it out."

A low snarl. "I am not setting foot in whatever is left of the Spire Council's territory."

"Please."

The desperation in that one word tore at Perdix's heart, but it was Eos' pleading stare that finally broke the spiral's resolve. This was an awful idea. Nothing good could come from returning to those ruins.

"...Fine. I'll take you there. After that I'm gone."

Thorin stared at the remains of a once large building before him.

"What do you think you're doing in my home?"

The fathom let out a squeak of alarm and ducked behind her smaller companion. "Sorry! We thought—"

"Varda!" The wildclaw hushed her companion before puffing up her chest in an attempt to appear fiercer. "No one owns this place. It's abandoned, the owner died... or something. We're allowed to explore."

"The owner was my grandfather. This place belongs to me." He took another step forward, eyes narrowing. "Get out."

"Whoa, whoa big guy, lighten up a bit." The smaller dragon kept talking. "I heard this place was haunted so I'm just looking around. That's what I do— explore haunted places. It's great entertainment, makes for some good stories I can sell."

"I don't care."

"Zuri, we should go." Varda spoke up again.

Once more the bold wildclaw waved her friend off. "Nonesense, we can work something out, a deal perhaps? Let's see... this place is a real dump, I'd be bummed if this is what I woke up to everyday. How about this: you let me dig around a little, get some good evidence of the ghost rumors so I can make some quick treasure... and in return Varda and I will help make this place a little less depressing to earn our keep here?"

"More like I'll be doing the cleaning." The fathom sighed.

"I suppose that will suffice... for now. My name is Thorin, Emperor Thorin of the, uh, Valcorian Empire."

"Oh, dude, nooo. I would not use the title of Emperor right now." Zuri shook her head with a snicker, ignoring the snarl that hissed out from between Thorin's teeth. "I mean, haven't you heard about that one in Light? Talk about not reading a room."

Varda tugged the wildclaw back. "I don't think you're reading the room either Zuri..."

Thorin debated a moment on what to do about this situation. The wildclaw held no respect for him but at least Varda was trying to reign her in. This didn't feel like it was going to go well. "Your friend is smart, Ghost-hunter. But if you must feel the need to request I change my title... Supreme Leader Thorin will suffice."

Longer, wordier than he'd wanted, but it sounded better than the boring title of 'king' and his grandfather had been the Supreme Council Leader so... It made some sense to take the mantle up for himself in a way.

Things would go fine... hopefully. He was going to need more than these two in order to build the Valcorian Empire he'd came up with.

The guardian frowned, watching the injured dragons with annoyance. If they'd stuck together, perhaps things would've been fine. A huff of air escaped and he motioned for the two to follow. "That's enough for today, come on. We're headed back to the main level. If you're lucky, maybe you'll find some medical supplies."
