@Decorative Dragons Highlights & Showcase
we're entering the parts of the challenge that don't come with a finite number of options, so statistics are going to be a little bit more vague than Sunday's from now on, but there's still some things to be said!
for instance, for scrying inspiration, I've divided them into some genral categories: we had cicadas (1),other creatures (3), other nature sounds (9), musicians and instruments (6), and abstract concepts such as sound waves themselves or childhood memories (7). some inspirations were double counted. (puns and references went in 'abstract concepts', and thank you for them!)
for dressing, we had: pipe flute (6), chimes (5), lute (2), lyre/harp (3), wind (2), creatures (3/4), brass cornet (1), and both the general music of nature and one instance of wing segments being used to represent cricket legs, which of course make their own music! what a wonderful variety of noisemaking options!
in a few places I've remembered to group like concepts together, but honestly I'm just relieved to have this ready to post, so it's being left inconsistent where it's inconsistent. still some great creations to look at!
I listened to
FairValentine's scry inspiration, an album called Installing Symbiotopia 2.0.1 by Bathroom Plants, while compiling this, and I highly recommend it! It was nature-y and calming, with some great unusual instrumentation :) Track 6 might be my favorite, but we'll see when I'm done lol! (update: yeah I think 6 wins for me, but overall it was a really great experience!)

Edenello's Dusthide scry and evocative writing!
When I hear cicadas, I think of the ones that would scream in the trees by my grandparent's house in Texas. Every summer in my childhood before they moved, I would spend as much time there as possible because I loved swimming and they had a pool. Cicadas are very associated with water for me because of that, and I tried to reflect that here. Hearing their screams still brings me back to the moments of standing at the edge of the diving board, under a beautiful peach tree, staring into the water and listening to the world around me before taking a deep breath and taking another dive.
Ackie's scry was contrastingly simple, and very well coordinated! I feel like we don't often see basic genes used in scrying challenges, but sometimes they're just right!

Bailysis for truly understanding the nature of the game with a bogsneak scry I'm not going to display because Hypnotic secondary can cause eyestrain for people. I loved the gene combo but more than that I loved the description which is fully what I'm going for here:
"Plus, it gave me an excuse to think about crocodilians, which I love, and to scry a bogsneak, which I love."
(tbh the whole post was great)
Golden - I loved the themed names (even though one of them caused me to listen to the entire Phantom of the Opera soundtrack instead of whatever else I had been planning to listen to lol)
went and looked at the inspiration for
Rattification's scry (I am a sucker for fashion photography) and, yeah, that's a wonderful scry interpretation! I also really liked the simplicity and color matching in his outfit for the day!
shout out to
jbapple's rock moth caterpillar scry for the puns (and I also wish some of the apparel were subdivided. hopefully they'll keep doing what they did with the augments sets in not being afraid to break them up into specific bits)
NerdMom also did a pun scry, but in softer colors :)

extinction's story continuation between the scry hatchling and the adult who now has extra instruments to carry on with their music
Ajgreelyfan3 scried a sheet music dragon that I couldn't not feature
abzoro's part was a knock-it-out-the-park home run for me, and it was hard to only select one image to feature. in the end it had to be the scry, but I urge you to check out the outfits as well!
Cicadas emit genuinely one of the most irritating, ear-grating noises, especially when they get into the hundreds. They're just a but too much until you get used to them and then you realize how nice they can end up sounding. That's what this scry is: messy, loud, until you realize how good it works together.
I enjoyed all of
Draugwen's work, but I'm featuring the scry representing "the music of a murky lake" because it made me like Slime and Sludge, which is a rare occurence for me!
charliesneeze also had a similar concept, also with a quite appealing scry!
I designed this dragon based on the idea of sitting around a murky pond in the later hours of the night in summer, listening to crickets chirp while fire flies blink in the distance.
Foreva001's outfit commentary is a great instance of abstract thinking. in context, yeah, the wing segments absolutely count!
I designed this outfit to resemble a cricket because of how they chirp by rubbing their wings. I didn't include any normal musical instruments per say- I think having the wing segments count as my instrument
OnceWorried had another instance of a post that's a little too long to just completely copy here, but with great evocative creative writing and lovely process explanation for an impactful scry!

tigressRising provided us with some cool animal facts inspiring her scry and outfit, and a creative use of the Enchanted Raven Necklace as apparently they count as songbirds??? wow
Polty used the Mistral tertiary in their scry and that's just so creative I couldn't not show everyone!
One of my favorite nature sounds is simply listening to the wind whistle through the leaves of trees and to the wood gently creaking as it sways. I chose to make a Wind dragon with the Mistral gene to help depict that, and tried to make a Banescale that looks like one of my favorite trees: Alder.

I'm not really familiar with them after the first 2 generations but I really liked them as prompt interpretations, so they're probably even cooler if you have the extra knowledge :) [also, dang, they need to give us a black moustache item! it's such a classic!]
