After reading through this thread, I have to agree with Laced/Edged. I don't think I've seen a combo that makes them work.

Laced and Koi is one of my favorite gene combinations:

- mosaic/breakup obliterate the details of a dragon and I can't stand them. I think I probably hate them more than any other gene. doesn't help they debuted with gaolers, my least favorite ancient. I am curious if anyone has a dragon with it that they like it on.

Mosaic and Breakup grew on me after topcoat released, but I've always loved berry mosaic

I think it has the best potential on more naturally colored Gaos, though I've seen many variations that I personally love. I think the F pose does it better, the mouth part looks a little strange on the M pose to me, but it's not bad

If you don't mind me asking, what color combo is that Veilspun omg??

I can't figure out any way to make Pufferfish work.

pro tip: to get scry links from scry images, change the dgen/preview/dragon? to scrying/predict? to quickly jump into the scrying workshop!!!!

Mistral, Rockbreaker, and the little floaty disks on Brightshine. Pretty much for the same reason I don't like Firefly. They technically don't touch the dragon, how are they genetic???
I used to be a certified Scales hater (still kind of am), but I found my one exception:

Haha, yeah, those genes are a stretch for sure, but I do love rockbreaker when it matches nicely! Maybe it's like pearlcatchers with their pearls.

I have yet not to find at least one exception for the genes I really dislike. Keel and Topcoat are two examples that I found an exception for right in this thread. XD

Here to represent some other impossible genes that have gotten listed since my last post! But only dragons I haven't already listed :P

I do wonder if G1 culture has an effect on how much players struggle to use certain genes? Like, I'm convinced you can make any gene work but I also usually start with a certain concept or goal in mind and work my way backwards from there. For example if I really wanted to find a good scry for, I dunno Pufferfish, I would start with a Basic/Basic grey tone Undertide and scry all of the Pufferfish colours, find one I think is especially cool, and then find other colours and genes and poses to match it.

Oh my word, I NEED those cryastal dragons! Beautiful gene combo! Any plans to breed them in the future?
I think G1 culture does effect things, though for how much is probably different for most individuals. If someone doesn't care for G1s, I don't think it would effect them much. 90% of my dragons are G1s but I don't collect like others do. A lot of my G1s were bargin finds of the AH at cheap, cheap prices. Like <20g cheap. I just look for dragons with interesting color combos and find a gene plan that works with them. No set plan usually. Random XYZs with surprising results are what keep me playing and collecting dragons at this point. I love just sitting and sorting through the cheap G1s on the AH and scrying anything that catches my eye.
Like this guy:

I almost passed him by and I imagine plenty of others did too. He's not terrible colorwise, but not especially exciting either. But then you fiddle and realise you can do THIS:

I do not like Ghost, but this is one of my few exceptions for this gene. I don't know why, but the colors just work for me. And getting that added surprise pop of red to match the eyes was super satisfying!
