TimberBeetle
Eclectic and Mischievous Entomologist

TimberBeetle wandered a little too far from her home lair, the Inevitably Unmannerly Mockingbird Paradise, and now she's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, she'd really appreciate it if you could just return her home, to 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, or to the Traveling Dragon Rest Hub. This is not necessary, but she would be very grateful!

This dragon is also a part of Arach's Traveling Dragon Challenges. Feel free to check in here! And If you've fallen in love, you are more than welcome to fully adopt her! If you do though, please let Arach know for her notes.

Inevitably Unmannerly Mockingbird Paradise - Arach

TimberBeetle has always been enamored with insects, beetles, bees, spiders, etc. That's also how she came by her name, when she hatched she became super focused on a passing beetle and almost wandered off. As it was her mother had to physically put her back in the nest several times before finally just bringing the beetle with her in a makeshift little basket. Now that she is grown she is determined to visit all the different regions and write a comprehensive catalogue of all the different insect varieties across them.

Starflower Grove - kiyooooo

The first clan that TimberBeetle arrived at was Starflower Grove. She was really excited, as she'd never been in a Light clan before! She couldn't wait to see all the lovely insects that she would encounter!

While here, the rest of the dragons were helpful, although not very knowledgeable.
The most help that she managed to get was from Hydrangea, the gardener, who pointed out some common bugs that he saw while gardening, although he didn't know all of their names. TimberBeetle wrote down a short description and sketch of each anyways - maybe she would meet someone who could tell her more about each!

Reedcleft Ascent - Ainlif

Timberbeetle's next stop was at the Reedcleft Ascent, in the Windsinger's Domain, where she stumbled upon an old cottage. It was owned by a couple of coatls, one of which had been a traveler herself. She stayed a while exchanging stories of their travels, but unfortunately, despite their extensive library, the two old ladies couldn't tell her much about insects. They did however gift her with a stunning pair of fake insect wings, which she accepted gratefully. Perhaps they'll help with approaching insects.

TimberBeatle has acquired a piece of apparel, she hopes to find more items that will help her with her research!

Tourmaline Archives - Zikul

Perhaps a Light Flight library would have given a more... factual... description of insects, but visiting the Starfall Isles still proved worthwhile. The Tourmaline Archives sported several specimen of both living and extinct varieties, suspended in amber. Even though the researches here mostly focused on the arcane properties of the little bugs, the description to go with each display proved fascinating.

In the Archives' gift shop, TimberBeetle found some matching apparel pieces to buy!

Roseveil Hollow - Hilldigarde

TimberBeetle's journey brought her to the shadowed glades of Roseveil Hollow, a place that felt alive in ways that were both strange and thrilling. Her arrival caught the attention of a quiet, wiry Tundra named Mosswyn, a forager and naturalist who shared her fascination with the Hollow's peculiar ecosystem. While he wasn't particularly interested in insects, Mosswyn had a sharp eye for detail and an impressive knack for identifying the perfect habitats for creatures.

Mosswyn mentioned that Veil’s End was home to peculiar beetles that mimicked the glimmering patterns of fireflies to avoid predators. She spent hours tracking the beetles, finally capturing their likeness in her journal and learning their behavior.

TimberBeetle left Roseveil Hollow with invaluable additions to her catalog. This trip had given her fresh inspiration for her travels and she was ready to explore other lands.

Clan of Slumber - sketchlord

When she came to the Crystalspine Reaches, TimberBeetle was distraught to see that bugs were a common delicacy in the Clan of Slumber, where smaller dragons like Fae and Spirals thrived. She felt rather out of place on a stroll through the village market, until she came across a booth populated by familiars and plants. There, Lichen and Ivy and Suriya were deep in discussion.

They welcomed TimberBeetle into their conversation, more than happy to have an audience to their knowledge. Lichen and Ivy nearly talked over each other when showing off their own journal of plant life in the local peaks and Focal Point. Meanwhile, Suriya displayed her own terrariums of pet bugs and regaled her guest with species behaviors, as well as the names and quirks of individuals. Then, the two dragons combined their talents to illustrate how each enclosure was a miniature ecosystem, with a stable foundation of flora and fauna working together so well that it hardly needed any maintenance -- just an occasional spritz of water.

In the end, our spunky Imperial left the Clan of Slumber with diligent notes about the interconnectivity between bugs and their environments, along with an informative souvenir.
