In anticipation for all the dark blues and purples, I wanted to do something a bit different, but still relevant to the concept of shadow. This is based off the dappled shadows created on the forest floor. I might tweak this a bit, but I think it stands well on its own now. I... may have gotten a little carried away with this. No regrets, though!
"Prankster Posse"
You meet a Snapper in the woods, but it's too dark to see him clearly. The constant squirming of his body makes you uneasy. As you back away slowly, the chunky dragon suddently lights up with tens of tiny glowing spots. Something's definitely wrong, you think to yourself. Then the realization hits: they're not just any lights. They're eyes.
EDIT: Might as well note that the original shadow layer is still perfectly intact, and the extra shadows are on a separate layer below it. As a slightly paranoid person, I just want to make sure I don't get accidentally disqualified or anything. :B

Your luck is terrible tonight! That was the fifth time in a row you lost to the quietly snickering Wildclaw. How was it even possible? As you clutch your head with your claws, you happen to catch a glimpse of something swirling between the dragon's fingers. A single card, an ace of diamonds, suddendly pops out of the shadows hiding under her. "Another game, perhaps?" she asks. You take one, sad look at your empty coin purse and shake your head.
EDIT #3: Edited the Wildclaw's wing cards a bit~
