Roleplay

Tell stories and roleplay in the world of Flight Rising.
TOPIC | F.E.V.R.- Shadow's Symphony
1 2 3
(Hello everyone, this is the RP that I gave a preview of a few days ago via interest check. Since a couple people liked it, here it is! Aside from possible formatting in the future, it's finished and now open to post!)

Backstory/Plot

As the world's technology progressed, it was inevitable that once everything became automized or advanced, people would expand and take land. It's sad, yes, but people with power more often than not abuse it and take advantage of resources. Now it seems you can really go anywhere in nature without traveling to one of the few places considered "nature safe" or to a zoo, maybe a park way into the city. Most of these, however, take too much money to keep doing over and over. So how do you entertain kids, pass the time in general with new scenery?

Enter the Full-Experience Virtual Reality, or FEVR, system. Normally said as "fever," the FEVR system is as its name suggests. It's a virtual reality system which allows a complete sensory experience. Turning on a game while hooked up with one of these headsets on your head is the equivalent of transporting your whole self into a whole new world. Of course, you can't feel death or too much pain, that would just be bad for business!

It's been a couple years, and now it seems everyone has their own system and loves it. The system's developer, after seeing this, began selling development kits for the surprisingly easy-to-develop-for system. Turns out the way they designed the system was to make it easy for those who make games, no matter how simple, to add to those available to the system. One can make anything from a single-player pet-owning simulation game to a fully fleshed out MMORPG complete with full customization for both weapons and characters so not a single person will ever look close to another unless it's on purpose!

As said before, it seems like everyone has a system. You're no different in that sense. You may not have as much experience on it as some, but you still play regardless. One day, when you check the main FEVR site, you find that you've been invited via messages to be part of a "first group." Of course you're surprised, this is a high honor to most FEVR players. It means that in some way, be it a raffle or some other selection, a developer or some developers have invited you and some others have been chosen to join them as the first to play their game, after having ironed out all bugs possible of course. While many people can say they beta tested, only a select few can say they played with the developer!

Whether it be out of excitement, curiosity, or whatever reason, you accept. A few minutes pass before the developer is able to contact you again, but by the signature at the bottom of this message, it seems that there are two developers. They give you the game to download, when to expect further briefing before logging in, and a chatroom to join and meet your group mates while you wait, should you choose to.

Rules/Guidelines

1) All site rules apply
2) No Godmodding or Mary-Sues/Gary-Stus As many may know, they can take the fun out of things. If the game gives you power, it's over enemies and NPCs, not eachother or big bosses. Even if you're a higher level or have higher stats/bigger buffs, there should still be at least one weakness a lower level character may use and one shouldn't have a way to one-hit just about everything in your path.
3) There can be characters with other, smaller games to mess with during downtime in this main one Please refrain from causing confusion amongst others and make sure others know you are in these games though, and do try to be in the next 'session' for the sake of continuing things!
4) You may have up to 3 characters if you believe you can handle them all
5) Small paragraph per post minimum and semi-literacy preferred Which is to say a few sentences minimum and no chatspeak outside of chatroom talking. A few misspellings and small grammar mistakes are fine, I've probably made a few throughout this, but please try to stay understandable.
6) If you have to be inactive for a while or want to drop out, please make a post saying how your character left the group This is in case someone might scroll past a simple "I'm going for a while/I'm leaving, it was a nice run, bye" and get confused as to why someone hasn't posted in a while.
7) Keep things PG-13 Violence is inevitable in some games, whether blood is involved or not, but don't overdo the description of it. Romance of any orientation (MxF, MxM, FxF, etc.) is allowed, just keep it clean.

The roleplay will last as long as the game is going or until the RP is long enough and people want some change. If this gets popular enough, I may do another with a different game!

Game Specs
Name: Shadow's Symphony

Genre: MMORPG with fantasy elements

Description: In the land of Teretel, all was once peaceful. Children would play, people would celebrate and sing, all was peaceful, it didn't matter where you lived. You could be in a small forest tribe making instruments of wood and leaves to play or a grand city watching people race on the back of beasts. It was harmony. Something, however, shook the land and turned everyone's lives upside down. It was time for a new ruler to take the capital. At first, this new ruler seemed kind, charming, and caring. Some believed a spirit corrupted him, as he began to become tyrannical. The people chose to revolt, and it was revealed the man was, in truth, an evil being long thought to be sealed away.
Years have passed, and ever since the events of that year darkness has begun to spread. Creatures once friendly have become aggressive. A lot of people, even those once believed quite powerful, have hidden themselves away in caves and underground believing it would be safer, that they could prosper there. Now, however, there are people under and aboveground who don't want to hide anymore. They're fed up at fearing everything, fed up with constantly having to dig further away as the influence of evil spreads. They want to fight.

Object of game: Make your way across the land, doing quests for others and exploring along the way, finding the many bosses and enemies to defeat, purging the evil from the land, and progressing to the capital to end this terror once and for all

Features: Real-time battle system (no time freeze around battle area), intelligent AI, complete customization of character (and most weapons' appearance), class/role system, skill/ability system, the ability to tame certain creatures, others are to be revealed through playing

(Character Lists and In-game statistics)
Teretel
There are four distinct regions within Teretel, each with small "subregions" in between them where they seem to almost blend into one another. The four regions are detailed below with short descriptions of their major cities (or what remains) and status in terms of corruption.

Frenord
The small, northwest region of Teretel is known for its cold climates. On the mountains towards the edge of Teretel's borders, snow almost permanently rests on rocky peaks and even in valleys, with little vegetation or civilization to break up the white and gray, while closer to other regions it gets noticeably warmer, lusher, and more welcoming. The terrain becomes more level near the southern edges of the region.
Status: Least Corrupt
Cities:
Forostlis- derived from a foreign language meaning "Frost City," it's a beautiful, if small, place in the mountains. As one of the few cities where darkness and evil has yet to reach, it has become a place of refuge for those brave enough to make their way through the perilous summits. Delicate ice sculptures decorate much of the city, and a majority of buildings are wood, stone, or a combination thereof. Berylwood- nestled at the base of the mountain ridge, this city used to be a mining hub for various gems to be in jewelry, originally a settlement which grew with trade. Now these gems are taken for the properties they have and use in potions by evils wanting to abuse this.

Erbia
This is the biggest region, and the region where the capital resides. It spans from the center down to the southeast and is characterized by prairies, plains, and fields with some patches of hills and forest. The southern edge is by the sea, leaving a beautiful coastline and beach once visited by many, now tainted by corrupt forces.
Status: Most Corrupt
Cities:
Skyreach- The capital of Teretel, once a large, bustling, and advanced city of joy placed in the midway point between the coast and the center, it's now teeming with evil and is heavily guarded by creatures inside and out. It's almost unrecognizable.

Magair- Once a great overseas trading hub built partially on the water from the beach, it has since been torn apart by amphibious and aquatic creatures and beasts which make up part of the evil plaguing the land. Nothing more than concrete ruins, scrap metals, and some small, dilapidated buildings remain with the tiny trinkets left behind by past citizens and scavengers. To think, the smell of flowers drifted through, now it just reeks of fishy monstrosities and rot.
Aerigh- made of wooden treehouses, this spot has been abandoned for years. Oddly enough, most houses still remain intact and some of the last inhabitants' belongings stay right where they were when people last lived there. It's as if they planned to be back soon. The whole place feels eerie.

Rosehill- while most rarely call it a city since it boasts so many farms and so little in the way of "city space", it counted from sheer population of its people. However, these people have since been driven out or killed and the farms were taken to supply the hordes of abominations and demons brought with the ruler.

Uringaku
The lush rainforests and forests of this region, spanning from the north and wrapping around the center of Teretel before ending in the east, were once the center of many tales of exploration into territories of many races and species calling these places home. This is because of their beauty, diversity, and supposed temples and caves full of treasure.
Status: Second Least Corrupt
Cities:
There are no cities in this region, as not many people chose to disturb the land anymore than what was necessary. There are, however, some small civilizations and villages left since the corruption that have been able to stay relatively safe.

Shaaqi
The last region is one to the west and southwest made up of deserts with minimal vegetation, if any outside of the one city. Its biggest claim to fame is a stretch of sands dubbed the Lengzu Desert, Lengzu being derived from a foreign language and meaning "Prism," and with good reason.
Status: Second Most Corrupt
Cities:
Yanchen- This city was originally built near the Lengzu Desert to make use of the solitude and the oasis it is built around. The buildings are mainly made of hardened sand bricks and are quite the sight to see. This was taken over, as it was found that the sacred temple of the city could be a valuable source of power.

(To mark the opening for this RP (finally), I have my own characters. The two developers!

SERENITY DAWN/FEATHER HALO
Real Life

Name: Serenity Dawn
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Appearance: Serenity is of about average height at 5'5", medium frame, and peach skin with a small bit of muscle due to exercising 30 minutes three days a week. A thick, messy cascade of copper-colored hair flows straight down to her shoulders, parted to her left and often kept behind her pierced ears. Her eyes are a pale blue color and always seem to either give a look of confidence or relaxation. The only pieces of jewelry she often wears are a pair of diamond studs in her ears, the yin half of a yin-yang couple's necklace, and a real gold but faux diamond ring on her left pinky. Covering a blue-green and black plaid T-shirt, she keeps on a long black jacket when going out that ends about halfway down light colored skinny jeans. Finishing off her look, she wears black, white flower-print converses.
Personality: She's often either quite laid-back or a bundle of energy, there's no in-between. In either case, she's usually direct, not one to dance around something, and judges others based on who they are, not what they appear to be at a glance. Because of this philosophy, she tends to observe before talking to someone. She has a lot of patience until push comes to shove, where she will take no nonsense and if something needs done, she will make sure it is done. She can become emotional, but only around those she can trust being so around, and not over little things.
Background: Growing up, Serenity was often pushed to make the best grades possible. While in early grades it was easy, school in those grades was more like play. During this time she began to play video games. Once she got into higher grades it became more difficult as she was put into multiple honors classes. By high school, she was so stressed she was about to break, but she couldn't change things without protest from her parents. Her self-esteem dropped dramatically, she felt she simply existed to just try to get the next A, and her few friends often tried to talk her into counseling. She could never trust the counselors though, so instead she turned to playing games to feel better, if only temporary. She eventually caved and talked to someone, and after a few talks, she began improving. She even did better in school, and it was easier to make the grades she wanted, and it was at this time she began taking game art and design classes. During her junior year, she met someone, fell for them, and has been happily together with them.
Other?: One of two developers of the game, loves cute and cool creatures, draws and sings often.

In-Game
Nickname: Feather Halo
Appearance: As Feather, her height, eye color, and skin tone stay the same. Her hair, however, lengthens down to her waist and becomes a fiery red. Her outfit consists of a sleeveless shirt that's black at the chest and white for the rest with a blue stripe going down the back to an opening where it splits in half. Over this, Feather has a cropped jacket that's white save for the sleeves from the elbow down, which are black with a blue cuff at the end. She wears white pants with black for patches at the top front and knees and a stripe down the sides, also ending in blue cuffs. She also has small feathered wings that are large enough to not seem cartoonish, but too small for full flight. She keeps on black boots that are almost like combat boots with their tread. Diamond studs, the yin necklace, and the ring still adorn her.
Class: Assassin
Starting Weapon: Kusarigama with a metallic blue chain and a steel spiked handle at one end
Most-Likely-to-Use Element: Fire
Other?: Can glide and hover shortly, will be starting at level one with everyone else for fairness

MATTHEW BRYANT/SCALES HORN
Real Life

Name: Matthew Bryant
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Appearance: Matthew stands tall at 6'4" and is quite skinny, but not weak since he exercises with Serenity. Curly, dark brown hair with a bit of an orangish tint covers the top of his head, just long enough to create a soft puff. Each of his eyes give a separate color, one a light blue and the other a light jade green, but both seem to give a look of apathy unless his mood changes to influence them. They also have faint dark circles around them due to staying up late yet waking up early. His outfits mostly consist of a zip-up hoodie that says "Never knows best" on the back, a simple white tee with one of those "regal" prints on the front, jeans that are tighter at the top but a little baggy at the bottom, black sneakers he found cheap, and the yang half of a yin-yang couple's necklace.
Personality: Usually one to joke around and shrug off insults, he's possibly the most laid back person one can meet. Push the wrong buttons, however, and he will get angry. He normally isn't very facially expressive, save for a small smile here and there, but his eyes can give him away. People often go to him for advice due to his ability to assess a situation, and when he gives this advice it often helps. He can be quite eloquent due to his tendency to read (often large) books.
Background: Matthew didn't have a very rough life starting out. He had friends, played video games, and did well enough in school. It all started in his middle school years. His father died during this time, and his mother turned to alcohol for a long while. Because of this, she would verbally abuse him, to the point he became numb to the kind of insults she screamed. He was still hurt though and he was depressed half of the time, but he never told what friends he had. They could see it in his eyes though. He tried talking to someone, and in his freshman year of high school was able to get his mother to stop drinking by sobering her up and letting her know just how badly it affected the both of them. Things returned to normal, and he felt much better, now teaching himself coding. Then he met Serenity in his junior year and within a couple of months fell for her. Ever since then, they've been together happily. Both have graduated school together.
Other?: The second of the two developers, likes to draw every now and then, but prefers to read, watch anime, write, and play video games. Likes small dogs, cute cats, wolves, and owls. Got Serenity to watch some anime and like it. Can be called Matt.

In-Game

Nickname: Scales Horn
Appearance: His appearance is based heavily on a samurai. His hair, height, and eyes stay the same. The clothing is also not quite as baggy, and he has red steel shoulder plates, a white tattered scarf, and a simply made mechanical arm. The outfit is black with a dark gray bottom and a white obi. Red, dragon-like wings, the same size as Serenity's, come form his back, slots in his clothing permitting them through. His necklace is still present around his neck.
Class: Berserker
Starting Weapon: A long katana made strong enough to handle a Berserker's use with white showing between the black weaving of the handle and a pale red ribbon wrapped close to the junction between blade and handle.
Most-Likely-to-Use Element: Ice
Other?: Chose Ice to balance out Serenity, can glide and hover shortly, also starting at level one.

I will probably replace the descriptions on appearance with pictures (self drawn) soon)
