Fresh wounds cut into the grey flesh of the creature, where oily black, tar like blood leaked out and smeared against her shining scales. Glancing up at the sun, the Pearlcatcher grunted and continued to limp their way through the expanse. Many thoughts ran through her head as each painstaking step brought her further into the unknown. 'One second earlier and I would have had that egg! Damn Guardians, always so vigilant..can't ever tell when they're going to come back to their nests.' She scolded herself and mumbled, assuring herself that if she had been more careful she would have had the Lightning egg in her claws at this moment. However, she knew she couldn't change the past and decided it was best to find shelter before night fall and tend to her wounds before she bled out too much. She didn't feel she was in any real danger, but then again if she happened upon an aggressive dragon then surely she would have to flee, there was no way she would be able to live through another fight like this. So far all she had seen was small plants, sweeping plateaus and maybe some small dessert mice here and there. She was assured that if there was life out there, it must have been much farther out then where she was, but oh how wrong she was. Squinting her eyes, she tried to make out several figures in the distance that seemed blurred in the heat. They looked almost like structures, could it be possible that a clan of Dragons was living out here? She knew it was best to try and avoid this clan and try to make her way around it as best she could. Of course, the way she was bleeding all over the rough sand covered ground beneath her, it was very possible that the dragons there could have already caught her scent. Trudging onward, she found a large wind polished chunk of sandstone that lay in several small shrubs fairly close to the place where a clan may or may not be. Crawling up onto it's smooth surface, she slumped over it and collapsed in a heap on its white exterior. She was exhausted, and decided that this is where she was going to lay now. Each breath becoming deeper as she scanned the area around her, hoping her presence would remain unnoticed.

Sure she would be scolded and sentenced to some worst task to grave away her precious time at but Morrigan had spent most of the day scavenging. Her satchels filled to the brim of shiny items she would add to her ever growing hoard and a few broke bottles that gleamed with treasure in them. Thankfully, the matriarch allowed each dragon their own personal allowance. Sweat had gathered on her brow, as she vigilantly dung, her once shiny gauntlets now covered in a fine layer of dust. She could hear the patrol team faintly in the distance, probably wondering where she was. After she had lied about hearing something and gone off to check but really skip out of her duties. This wasn't the first time this had happened, the dragoness had a long list of skipping out of assigned duties, a few lies here and there. Nothing too harmful, sure she had been threatened time after time but really they were hollow. It's not like the clan would really throw her out, especially with her advanced magic. They'd be foolish if not blind to even consider it. She was very confident in her position in the clan. Finally, after digging for her so fare, she heard a bang as her gauntlet collided with something shiny and after a little bit of wriggling, the rock came loose. Morrigan examined it closely, some sort of ore as she stuffed in her already overflowing bag. Content with her findings, the skydancer shook, dust flying everywhere as the prepared to return back. It wasn't until a faint scent of dragon mixed with blood reached her nose did she stop. Her head turned form where the scent was coming from. She pondered, whether to leave it or find the source of the smell, curiosity got the best of her and soon she found herself carefully avoiding rocks and shrubs, following that faint scent of dragon. After walking for awhile, she squinted her eyes, managing to make out a collapsed dragon. Upon getting closer, she could see it was a pearlcatcher, badly wounded. She slightly tilted her head, giving the slumped form a small poke with her foot before leaning it a bit closer.

Ghost had begun to close her eyes when she felt the claw of a long foot prod her in the side. She looked up and saw a tall Skydancer staring down at her, a brown Wolf pelt draped over the Dragonesses back and head. Pressing her claws against the stone, she tried to lift herself up to tell the Dragon to go away or some sort of grumbled remark towards the Skydancer. Instead, however, her arms shook slightly and she barely lifted herself up before collapsing back onto the rock. She wasn't used to the Heat pf the Shifting Expanse, as this was one of her last places to explore on her map. The heat along with her injuries were making the Pearlcatcher much less intimidating in her weakened state.

Lifting up her head, her long whiskers twitched and she bared her sharp teeth at the intruder who dare disturb her near death like state.

"Go away, and hey, it's rude to poke others. Keep your dusty feet off me."

She managed to grumble and lay her head back on the stone, refusing to take her eyes off of the Dragon before her. There was something eerie and interesting about the eyes that stared back beneath the beasts pelt. Her ear twitched and she could hear the sound other other dragons somewhat close by. She figured it was some kind of scout or group of scouts, probably gathering items around their clan or something of the sort. Ghost had been so out of touch with Clan life that she had nearly forgotten what happened in clans. She new there was normally leaders, well, of course there had to be for the group of dragons to be called a 'clan'.

She sometimes mused the idea of joining a clan, thinking life would be much easier that way. She could work under a leader and perhaps even become an archivist, which was somewhat of a hatchling dream for her growing up. Of course, she had ending up growing up and cutting hatchlings dreams short by crushing the eggs before they had even hatched. There went her dream right out the window, no clan would be foolish enough to allow her access if they knew what she was or what she did. She was too far gone, finding herself more akin to the Shade then any other dragon she met. She could feel the darkness that pulsed through her veins, it was the very thing that drove her to continue her studies, delving deeper and deeper into dark and taboo magics.

She blinked, not backing away from the pearlcatcher. She didn't even seem that intimidating more like a hopeless cause and a dead one at that if the both of them stayed out in the sun for much longer. Even Morrigan had her limits when she ventured out into the scorching desert that was the Shifting Expanse. She pondered her options as to what to do with the dragon. Those marks looked deep and fatal but it made the skydancer wonder on how she got them. She didn't want to bring some sort of wanted criminal back to her clan.

She figured the morning patrol would be back by now, after all nothing really came out here in the desert, so thankfully the clan never really needed to worry about threats like other imposing dragons that would want to conquer this territory for their own. She knew that they would probably send out another scout dragon to look for her. It was the same old routine but it was funny when the patrol leader's face got redder than her scales before Teresa would bail her out. Amusing every time to her.

She knew she would have to act quick, before anybody else got here. Crouching down to the fall pearlcatcher.

"So you aren't dead after all." she said, slightly smirking. "Listen up. I can take you back to my clan and have you patched up or leave you rotting out here to catch heat stroke. It's your choice, buddy."

To be frank, it didn't really matter to her whether the dragon lived or died. Morrigan didn't feel empathy as much as others, she isn't malicious either, but it can't be said she's nice, neutrality in all situations is more desirable to her. Plus, she didn't really look forward to carrying the dragon back, especially since it was such a long way black to the clan.

Rolling her eyes slightly, Ghost thought about her options. She knew that shelter must have been very far away at this point and that even if she did manage to find shelter she would also have to tend to her wounds and somehow find food to keep her alive and well through the night. She figured the only logical way out of this was to go with this Dragon back to their clan, at least this was the only way she would at least survive the night. She knew it was quite dangerous and to tread lightly around clan dragons, she had no idea if her name had spread or even if her deplorable crimes would ever be brought to light. She figured it was best to assume the worst but in this situation it was life or death and she decided she would choose life for the time being.

"Listen...You take me back to your clan and I get back to feeling normal and I can reward you for your...kindness."

She could feel poison in her voice as she spoke, her tongue clicking against her sharp teeth as she decided it was best to try and be kind in this situation for her own safety. This dragon could easily leave her out here to die, she really didn't want that. Right now her life was on the line and the only way to save herself was to suck it up and at least show this Skydancer some gratitude for offering to help her though it pained Ghost to do so.

"I see you're a collector of sorts..."

Ghost remarked, noticing the bags and dirt on the gold gauntlets the Skydancer wore. She was hoping to perhaps gain a bit of trust with promises of trinkets and treasures, unsure of what this dragon held dear.

"I have some trinkets and such that I can part with if you could help me, its the least I could do to repay you for saving my life."

She flicked her tongue and wrapped her long tail around the rock she lay on, looking up at the Skydancer trying to pry some kind of sympathy from the dragoness that stood before her.

Her tail flicked back and forth, considering the pearlcatcher's honey coated words that offered even more trinkets. She narrowed her eyes, something felt a bit off about this dragon. She hummed, thinking before finally speaking to the dragon.

"Nice deal you've offered, seems like we get what we both want."

She continued to ponder, a small voice in the back of her head, what probably what last remained of her shredded humanity called for her to leave the dragon, don't trust her no matter what. She easily squashed the idea, the offer of more shiny items to add to her hoard sounded more appealing. Tracing a small shape in the sand with one claw, she returned her stare to the dragon.

'Fine, I'll get you healed and you give me more trinkets to add to my hoard. We have a deal." she hissed out, smiling wickedly.

She stood up, brushing off dirt and dust off her apparel. She shook again, making a mental note to scrub her armor later. Sympathy didn't come easy to her, more like a shred of pity for the pearlcatcher came to mind but how could she feel really anything for someone who hadn't even earned her trust yet. Mainly the only reason why she was doing this was because she got something out of it in return. It wasn't the "do it out of the kindness of her heart." It was more she would want to gain something.

"So." she said, looking down at the dragon. "Have any idea on how we're gonna get you on my back and back to my clan."

(Apologies for the late reply, serious irl stuff came up)

Ghost grumbled as the Skydancer agreed to take her back to her clan to heal her, she reached back and licked her shoulder, trying to scratch an old wound out of habit and then turned to the Dragoness that stood before her as she asked how they were going to get back to her clan.

"Well.."

She looked around as if the answer was just waiting in the space around them, of course that was a foolish thought and more so something she did as she was beginning to feel uneasy around this Dragoness. The way she spoke and carried herself was quite familiar to Ghost, but that was never a good sign. Blinking, the Pearlcatcher thought for a moment and then stretched her arms beneath her, forcing herself to sit up with a groan.

"I suppose if you carried me, why, you do look quite strong..I'm sure you can manage."

She tapped her claws on the smooth sandstone beneath her, looking up at the Skydancer, her eyes began to trace the outline of her back and shoulders. She was fairly certain that if she could at least stand on her hind legs for a moment she would be able to pull herself onto her back. However, her back legs still felt shaky and unstable, she was unsure how long she would be able to hold herself up on her own. Despite her wounds, she still had full confidence that she could manage to stand up, but she was unsure of for how long though. Looking down at the rock, she wrapped her long tail around its base and pushed herself so she was standing upright. She motioned for the Skydancer to come closer, trying to keep her balance.

"Come here and I can climb onto your back, would that be alright with you?"

Still holding herself upright, Ghost flinched and gritted her teeth, the Guardian she fought had dealt quite a bit of damage and with every passing moment her wounds throbbed and burned.

@Heathens (( no worries, I totally understand ))

The skydancer's expression slightly soured. She didn't particularly look forward to carrying the pearlcatcher through the hot desert especially since she revolted physical touch and that the dragon was filthy with blood . The thought of it sending light shiver through her. She huffed but was willing to deal with it in order to get her half of the deal.

"Fine." she muttered.

She got lowered herself to all four limbs, motioning with her tail for the pearlcatcher to get on. This wasn't going to be fun at all. Even more that she was starting to sweat through her wolf pelt and armor. Morrigan didn't look forward to the journey ahead since the walk back the clan was a rather long one. She had expected there might've been a dragon coming to fetch her back to the lair, with her having been gone longer than usual and out farther, past the border where the clan's territory ended.

This was dangerous territory out here, unclaimed and crawling with rogue and outcast dragons who were itching for a fight. Espeically out in this heat, where it made one unbearably irritated and their temper rise. She wanted to get back to the clan as fast as her legs would carry her.

"We need to hurry. I'd rather not encounter any others crawling around here she said, a slight edge to her voice. "Oh, since we're gonna be with each other for a while, what's your name? Mine's Morrigan.

((Thank you!))

'So that dragons name was Morrigan.' Ghost thought to herself, she wasn't one for remembering names and so every name she was told seemed new and unfamiliar to her.

"Morrigan, huh?"

She felt the name roll easily off her black tongue as she climbed onto Morrigans back. Pulling herself up onto the pelt, Ghost then settled between the Skydancers great wings, carefully wrapping her lithe tail around herself. She inhaled and breathed in the dragons scent, it was very earthy, somewhat reminiscent to the smell after the land was pelted with rain. She wondered if she should tell Morrigan her true name, then deeming it safe enough for her, she opened her mouth to speak.

"My name is Ghost, it's a pleasure to meet you, Morrigan."

She found it easy to fake kindness towards the dragon, especally since she knew she was getting something out of it. She figured once she was all healed up she could toss a couple of her gemstones she kept for rituals her way. Most has served their purpose in one way or another and according to Ghost had 'been drained of their magical properties anyways'. Though, they were still quite pretty to look at so she figured the Skydancer wouldn't mind.

"So tell me, does your clan often welcome outsiders or...?"

She dreaded the thought of happening upon a clan that was wary of outsiders and more often then not territorial. Ghost found it far easier to abuse others inert kindness and generosity rather then trying to earn it. There had been times when even her honeyed words failed her despite her best efforts. Looking up at the Skydancer, she squinted, her Shadow roots making her recoil slightly in the bright light of the afternoon sun. Ghost stretched her arms before her and then crossed them over each other and shook her mane slightly, trying to dispel any dust and dirt that had collected from the wind.

Ghost stretched her arms before her and then crossed them over each other and shook her mane slightly, trying to dispel any dust and dirt that had collected from the wind.
@Heathens (( so sorry i haven't responded i've been so busy this week and out of town as well ))

The skydancer hadn't ever seen hide nor heard about this pearlcatcher. So the name "Ghost" didn't ring any bells to her. But, she did wonder at how the dragon had gotten those nasty wounds on her body. Maybe she was a thief and got caught or just had a nasty run in with the wrong sort of dragon. She just didn't want anybody recognizing the dragon she was bringing in, for all she knew the pearlcatcher was something worse than your average thief and that was a whole other mess she didn't wanna get dragged into.

"Nice to meet you too." she muttered. It's easy to pretend to be nice to the dragon, fake that she wants to help her and get her bargain of the deal as quick as she could. She did ponder about what the pearlcatcher was willing to offer as the skydancer was quite a collector and didn't like to be mistaken for a fool. She knew a real one from a fake one. She was expecting something quite good out of this deal especially since she had agreed to help the wounded dragon out of what little kindness was left in her heart.

"My clan doesn't accept visitors often, since we are not a place where a dragon crosses too often. But we're always willing to accept dragons with hospitality"

She flashes the pearlcatcher a razor sharp smile. Of course, theres a bit of a hidden meaning behind those words. The clan she dwells with hides all sorts of secrets. Deep, dark ones that no dragon would want to know.
