@gemkid ((yeah ofc!))

Restless leaned in to try and pick up on Andradite and Fire Opal's conversation, but they were speaking too softly.

He frowned to himself, but turned and watched Cello.

Light and Cix were fast asleep, at least, and wouldn't interfere with his scouting efforts.

Cello stood, alert, having seen something on the horizon. Andradite, on the other hand, heard it before she saw it. A distant screech rang out across the bamboo reeds of the Windswept Plateau.

Cello turned to Andradite, and spoke softly, making odd gestures with her claws. Though she was older, she was nowhere near as adept at proper speech as Fire Opal, and so she used a modified form of sign language to communicate.

After a few moments, Andradite nodded, and gathered her siblings, all of whom were young Fae with similar markings. The group of four set out, to survey just beyond the clan's territory. One flew in each cardinal direction.

Cello began to lap around the lair, ensuring that everyone was safe.

Restless licked one of his lower eyes and watched the proceedings with interest.

Screeches weren't uncommon in the Wasteland, but he figured they were far rarer in the laid-back Wind lands.

How strange, how different their cultures were.

He watched the Faes leave, keeping an eye on Cello.

Cello continued with her rounds, fully aware that Restless was not asleep. She didn't think anything of it, but gave a small nod of acknowledgment as she passed him. The maroon stones that jutted from her feathered hide seemed to glow against her otherwise purple hue.

She heard a sudden, small voice call out to her in desperation. Nymph flailed frantically into the lair, her wings beating fast as ever.

"Cello, quick! There is danger! Harpies to the northeast!" Her crest frantically twitched, expressing a quiet panic.

The lavender Coatl was suddenly more alert. She hadn't any time to waste. She awakened Elaine, and filled her in on the most recent development, before following Nymph to regroup with the rest of the Fae, and with Fire Opal.

Restless didn't respond to her nod, only staring, unblinking.

He did blink when Nymph fluttered in and the very subtle beginnings of a sneer formed on his face.

He hadn't seen harpies in his time in the Wasteland, but he'd dealt with them a few times before following Continuum and the Gladar. Nasty creatures they were, especially their Talona.

Restless glanced at Cix and Light, contemplating on whether to wake them up and make them panic or let them sleep.

Elaine took up guard near the front of the lair, alert. Her violet wings were cautiously spread. It wasn't long before she began to pace, stressed.

An hour passed. Two hours. Three. The sun began to rise, and six silhouettes formed on the horizon. Two shimmering Coatls, and four sibling Fae. Immediately, Fire Opal collapsed onto the floor of the lair, bloodied.

"What happened?" Elaine asked, bending down and softly nudging Fire Opal's blood-stained snout.

"Harpies.. They outnumbered us. We tried to be reasonable with them, but they were violent. Elaine... they will not hold off for long."

The Skydancer nodded, and, with Cello's assistance, carried the injured Coatl to her nest. She called Osiris over to help with her wounds, along with Cello and the Fae's.

Territory disputes were an ugly thing, and harpies were ruthless creatures. No good would come of this, she was sure.

He decided to leave them alone. Light would only glare and Cix would snap at him. It would be a waste of energy and resources.

Restless cleaned the other eye, watching with rapt attention as the others reentered.

They looked badly injured.

"You don't seem to be good fighters," he commented.

Fire Opal snarled. "We were outnumbered. On any other occasion, we would being great fighters." She was clearly offended.

Osiris peeked at Restless out of the corner of his eye. "Best not to upset her even more, Sunshine. She's a formidable fighter, though she may not look it at the moment." He began to wrap the Coatl's wounds, and soon moved on the the less-injured Cello, and then Nymph, and so-on.

((Sorry I took so long, I made myself some food and was really hungry. >w<))

@gemkid ((no prob! it's like 12 am in my timezone))

"Harpies," he repeated, somewhat in a mocking tone.

Nevertheless, Restless did lay his head back down. He did continue to stare, though, still not blinking.

"Harpies," he said, softer.

The injured dragons curled around each other to rest, while Elaine paced nervously. She knew a harpy attack was imminent. Sugilite awoke, and approached her.

"Elaine... We need to attack them first. We have no other choice." She spoke softly, but above a whisper.

Elaine was silent. She knew it had to be done, but she wasn't prepared to wage a war with a race that does nearly nothing but fight.

"I need time to think." Was all she said in reply.
